Ninja Captain Alex: Genre Favorites Blogfest

So here is the chance for me too share four of my favorite things in a world wide event from Alex Cavanaugh 7th Blogfest named "Genre Favorites Blogfest, September 17, 2012". Rules are simple "List your favorite genre of: Movie, Music, Books and a guilty pleasure genre from any of the three categories!

So I thought why not cover things in this year of "2012" instead of some of my life altering memories and less scaring you all on what might fascinate my brain.

So my choices for the 2012:

MOVIE [ACTION-ADVENTURE]: The Avengers... I find it difficult to see films anymore that do not just throw me into a state of forgetting I am in a theater. I find that I was completely taken away into the world where Joss Whedon is king and his servants went by the name of Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawk-eye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Captain America. I might be alone on this one, but some of you must agree?

MUSIC [OLD SCHOOL-MODERN TWIST]: Rob Zombie [2012] Mondo Sex Head... I don't like regular music anymore there is really nothing grabbing my attention, but I don't look for music anymore. I just have so much now, this release from Rob Zombie just is remixed versions of old stuff... maybe that is why I like it.

BOOKS [COMIC]: Smallville - Season 11 [Comic Book Series]... Smallville [tv series] ended on a high note for me, it brought what you wanted to see to life. It also made it so you wanted to know more, someone had the right idea to bring it to life in a comic book form... a continuation of the story that so needed it... yes I am a nerd and a fan.

MUSIC [SCORE MUSIC]: Intrada's "The Shadow" [2Cd] Expanded score... I loved this film in the nineties and the score was and still one of my favorites today. When I found out that this was coming out, I knew I needed it in my collection.

I think I have a very simple set of things, maybe you all agree with my choices... it's wonderful that we have things we love and that is why we are here. Thank you for stopping by and for Alex for making magic again.

  1. Unique twist on the blogfest! The Avengers - is there any other choice? And is that woman in Zombie's latest video? Crap, I need to catch it.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest, Jeremy!
And I'm sure your brain wouldn't scare me...

  2. Avengers rocked. Out on DVD today. Yay.

Great choices. Off to investigate the Zombies.

  3. Really enjoyed The Avengers too. I love getting lost in movies and the worlds that are created :)

    ReplyDelete
  4. Still haven't seen Avengers. I know I suck! :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Now I have something to look forward too -- still would love to know the brain -- just saying, might be a good thing for the Zombie Apocalypse.

  6. Some great choices for favorites! Can't wait for Green Arrow to start this fall!

  7. I find it interesting that you were a SMALLVILLE fan. I liked that show. I finally saw AVENGERS, and was not disappointed.

  8. I would've figured you'd put a twist on things. My wife and I usually go for the Action/Adventure genre--she doesn't like movies with too much talking.

  11. We're currently gearing up to decorate my son's bedroom with an Avengers theme. He found a 6 foot square poster on Ebay!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yay for The Avengers! Love that movie, though there was no romance there lol

    ReplyDelete
  13. I like your take and twist on it. It was hard narrowing it down to the most favorites, yours are great!

  14. Hey Jeremy! I STILL haven't seen The Avengers, which I need to rectify. Hopefully it will come to the dollar theater soon. Cool blog--I'm a new follower.

  15. I used to read and collect comic books. I don't do that much anymore. Did you like Watchmen? And are you excited about the CW's attempt at a Wonder Woman series? I think they are gonna follow the successful "Smallville" formula.

  16. Hey, Jeremy,

No, haven't seen Avengers either, but will, and I will keep an open mind to more metal-type music.

  17. Superman is a long time hero of mine, too. (my older daughter worked as an extra -background work- on several of the Smallville TV series which were filmed here in Vancouver).

I like comic book hero movies, hubs does too!

  18. I wish I had my comic books. I collected some great ones as a kid. I could probably buy a couple new cars with them. Sigh.

  23. Interesting choices. I love movie scores, probably not the same you as you, but a great score takes me back to a great movie just listening to it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Very cool picks. Would you believe that I haven't seen The Avengers yet? I know...my bad.

  31. Love Joss Whedon. Believe it or not... I haven't seen the Avengers yet. Shocked I know. I hadn't seen Captain America and I wanted to see all of them before I saw it. So, now I have to wait for it to come out on DVD. Sad, I know.

  32. Avengers? Yes. Great choice with The Shadow. An underrated, but stylish film Jeremy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I suspect I'm a lot older than you are...my super-hero phase peaked during the late 40s and early 50s when I read Superman comics. :D

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think action/adventure is my second fave because I'm with you on wanting to forget when I go the movies. Great movies and great books can do that.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I like how you did your post for the blogfest! Great idea! Two of my brothers collect comics, and when we were younger, I'd read them in secret so they wouldn't get mad at me for touching their comics! :D

  53. Loved how your choices mixed together with comic fantasy even making the music favorite!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I haven't seen the Avengers. Maybe when it comes out on video. It's much cheaper that way. :)

  59. Hi, Jeremy. Cool list. As a comic book guy myself these seem to be the days to be alive, don't they? After years of getting some of our favorite characters all wrong, it seems that they are really getting them right. I grew up with Marvel Comics and still have them.
    Thanks for sharing.
