While their snarkiness isolates Frank and Lindsay from the other guest, the weekend's events conspire to repeatedly force the unlikely pair together. Sony Music: "YELLOWSTONE" (ORIGINAL TELEVISION SERIES) MUSIC BY COMPOSER BRIAN TYLER

Sony Music proudly announces the release of YELLOWSTONE (Original Television Series Soundtrack) with music by BRIAN TYLER (The Avengers, Furious 7, Iron Man 3), available now.

As one of the top 10 highest-grossing film composers of all time, Brian Tyler has an impressive resume that includes The Avengers, Furious 7, Truth, Iron Man 3 and more, and is credited with scoring 3 out of 10 of the highest-grossing films of all time in global box office sales. On his musical contribution to Yellowstone, Brian Tyler says, “It has been incredible working with amazing director Taylor Sheridan on this project. His artistic vision encouraged an unbounded approach to composition. The visual canvas and thematic narrative of Yellowstone inspired me to create music that is intimate, tragic, and impressionistic in ways I have never before thought possible. I worked with so many phenomenal musicians from around the world ranging from the London Philharmonia Orchestra to superb soloists on viola, cello, and fiddle to capture the human soul behind the story. I strove for composing music that would support the complexity of the story and its characters. The tone of the music needed to reflect melancholy, joy, regret, intensity, revenge, love, tragedy, and beauty all at the same time. The music echoes tones throughout by use of thematic melody that feels it is at the heart of an epic yet intimate saga, while at times creating atmosphere that pushes the boundary of where music and sound converge. Taylor created a magnificent world and music was a central part of his overall vision to give Yellowstone a unique identity. It was a true challenge, and one that I am eternally grateful to be a part of.”

Making its debut on Paramount Network this past June, “Yellowstone” chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Costner), who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States.  Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.

Brian Tyler is a composer and conductor of over 80 films and was named Film Composer of the Year at the 2014 Cue Awards. Tyler composed music for blockbuster hits Avengers: Age of Ultron, Furious 7, Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, conducting the London Philharmonic, the Philharmonia of London and the Hollywood Studio Symphony for those films. He also scored Eagle Eye for producer Steven Spielberg as well as the recent Fate of the Furious, which had the biggest global box office opening of all time. Tyler was nominated for a 2014 BAFTA Award and was inducted into the music branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2010.

Milan Records: "Heartthrob Chassis - Arrhythmia"

Arrhythmia is the latest release from Heartthrob Chassis, the Detroit-based glam garage rock band headed by Margaret Dollrod, former songwriter and member of the sensational Demolition Doll Rods. It's out September 21st on Milan Records as a part of the Nicolas Winding Refn Presents series.

In a previous lifetime Margaret was the driving force behind the Demolition Doll Rods, a legendary three-piece whose primal, primitive sound—not to mention sartorial splendor (or lack thereof: hubcap brassieres, anyone?)—was beloved not only by a legion of rabid fans, it kick-started a garage-rock revival, inspiring countless bands, among them the White Stripes. The Doll Rods toured with the Cramps, Iggy Pop, Andre Williams, and Jon Spencer’s Blues Explosion (Spencer coproduced the Doll Rods’ classic debut album Tasty), and counted among their admirers such underground legends as Sky Saxon and Hasil Adkins.

After touring various countries solo like a gypsy the past few years, Margaret has returned to that sound she does best—two guitars and drums, all dressed up with that special cherry on top, Marge's deep, sexy man-voice. Heartthrob Chassis is the name of this outfit. On guitar we have the dashing, debonair Ben Van Camp. "He's not just an Angel, he's an Earth Friend that can play all the instruments," explains Margaret. Pounding the skins is Kate Gowman. Says Marge, "When a beautifully sweet Long-Legged Creature looks you in the Eye and says 'We could play together,' you just might want to give it a try!"

Margaret led her band by the hand, deep down into the plush, pulsating recesses of her Detroit basement to make a record. The result is called Arrhythmia, and it's a doozy. How does Margaret describe this hot new sound?  "The fortunate finds of this Life Divine has let music do her thing. Vibrating and pulsing through a Melodic Mayhem, where anthems and curiosity breath deeply and heavily into the tones of Fun...directly into the Madness of the Dream."

It is perhaps fate that the Danish outlaw himself, director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, The Neon Demon, Only God Forgives), has been enchanted with the work of Margaret Dollrod since her time with Demolition Doll Rods. A longtime student of underground counterculture, Refn has thrown his full weight behind the release of Arrhythmia, and will be pushing the album in conjunction with the release of byNWR, a streaming and culture platform curated by Refn. The filmmaker was so knocked out by Margaret's life story he decided to let her tell it herself in an epic story on his website—and he not only had Heartthrob Chassis filmed performing a set in her basement for the site (in 3D, no less), he had to bring you their first album personally. byNWR will feature Arrhythmia and articles by and about Margaret Dollrod heavily in the run-up to the album’s release in September.

Sony Classical: "OPERATION FINALE" Music by Alexandre Desplat

Sony Classical releases OPERATION FINALE (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) with original music by Academy Award® winner Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel). The soundtrack will be available for streaming, download and on CD August 24, 2018.  Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures (MGM) will distribute Operation Finale theatrically on August 29, 2018.

MGM’s razor-sharp thriller, Operation Finale, brings to life one of the most daring covert operations in modern history. Starring Golden Globe® winner Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Ex Machina) and Academy Award® winner Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler’s List), and the film vividly captures the ingenious and brilliantly executed mission to capture Adolf Eichmann, one of the chief architects of the Holocaust.

Fifteen years after the end of World War II, acting on irrefutable evidence, a top-secret team of Israeli agents travel to Argentina where Eichmann (Kingsley) has been in hiding together with his family under the alias “Ricardo Klement” and execute an extremely dangerous abduction. In attempting to sneak him out of Argentina to stand trial in Israel while being pursued by the country’s right-wing forces, agent Peter Malkin (Isaac) is forced to engage Eichmann in an intense and gripping game of cat-and-mouse with life-and-death stakes.

Operation Finale is directed by Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Twilight Saga: New Moon) from a screenplay by Matthew Orton. Oscar Isaac is also a producer, along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger under their Automatik company and Jason Spire’s Inspire Entertainment.

Alexandre Desplat says about the soundtrack: “Writing a score for the abduction of Adolf Eichmann has been a tremendous challenge. Chris and I tried to bring the audience into the mind of the Mossad squad, struggling to succeed in one of the most famous chases of a Nazi official; a criminal with no regrets or remorse whatsoever, hidden in Argentina. Organizing the train transports of Jews throughout Europe and supervising their systematic killings in villages or forests were some of Eichmann’s tasks. The music I composed tries to modestly capture these elements of tragedy and madness. A group of 10 percussionists leads the London Symphony Orchestra into a Mephistophelian dance.”

VOID RECORDINGS: "MORE MUSIC FROM THE FURTHER" Music by Composer Joseph Bishara

Void Recordings presents the debut release on vinyl and digital download, MORE MUSIC FROM THE FURTHER on August 18. The album features original music by composer Joseph Bishara (Insidious 1-4, The Conjuring 1&2).

More Music From the Further is a collection of 27 unreleased and developmental score pieces from the first three Insidious films. Composer and creature performer Joseph Bishara delves into the raw takes, pre-scores and unreleased sequences written to sonically define the world of Insidious.

The colors of each film emerge through the body of work with an avant-garde composition style influenced by classical, early goth and industrial music as well as Tangerine Dream and John Carpenter’s works. Noted multi-talented rebel of the horror film score, Bishara employs "gut-wrenching string dissonance, haunting electronic sounds and sudden crescendos" (ASCAP.com) in his use of strings and percussion to create effects designed to evoke "maximum shock effect" in the listener.

The original Insidious garnered Bishara the Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Score on the film.  He went on to compose music for its sequels Insidious Chapter 2, Insidious Chapter 3 and Insidious: The Last Key. MORE MUSIC FROM THE FURTHER is from this dark astral realm of horror.

Beyond his work on Insidious films, Joseph has been both composer and creature performer in The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2 and Annabelle. Formerly guitarist and keyboardist from the LA industrial music scene, Bishara segued to soundtrack work on Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Heavy Metal 2000, and John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars. Bishara’s credits also span from rap to hardcore to film as a music producer. His music production work includes the soundtrack for the cult musical film Repo! The Genetic Opera and its successor The Devil’s Carnival, as well programming and remix contributions for artists such as Tech N9ne, Marilyn Manson, Rasputina, Danzig, Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails.

Intrada: "RAVENWOLF TOWERS" [2016] Music by Richard Band

Intrada's latest release by composer Richard Band features his score to the 2016 webseries Ravenwolf Towers. In this series produced by Charles Band and released through Full Moon, most of the characters, save the two leads, had been introduced in previous Full Moon films, many of which had been scored by Band. As a result, he was able to leverage previous themes and motifs for these characters, while creating new themes for the characters of Jake and Mary. Romantically sad and beautiful, it captured the mysterious and uncertain destiny of their relationship, where of course the viewer knows more than the characters. The score portrays a sense of dignity for the old Towers, with an inherent sense of the enigmas that lie within. It's Richard Band doing what Richard Band does best, and who couldn't use a healthy dose of that in the few weeks leading up to October and Halloween festivities.

The legendary Ravenwolf Towers, once home to Hollywood's elite, has fallen on hard times. Jake, the new assistant manager, slowly discovers that concealed among the Tower's dark corridors, decrepit interiors and locked rooms are many terrifying secrets: guests who disappear without a trace, mad doctors, degenerate monstrosities, inbred horrors, and an alluringly beautiful, mysterious woman. Damsel in distress? Or most terrifying resident?

Tor Books: "Stygian": A Dark-Hunter Novel - Dark-Hunter Novels (Volume 22) - Sherrilyn Kenyon

Born before man recorded time, I lived for thousands of years believing myself to be something I’m not... Someone I’m not.

Lied to and betrayed by gods, Daimons and Dark-Hunters, I’ve struggled to find my way in a world where I’ve been cursed since the moment I was prematurely ripped from my mother and planted into the womb of an innocent woman who thought me her son.  Trained as a slayer and predator, I learned to fit in and stay low. To become a tool for evil. Until I was sent to kill the one woman I couldn’t. My hesitation cost her her life.  Or so I thought. In an act of betrayal that makes all the others pale in comparison, I’ve learned that this world is an illusion and that my Phoebe still lives.

Now I will have to travel into the very pits of Hades to try and save her, even as everyone around me attempts to steal what little soul I have left. There’s only one person at my back and I’m not sure I can trust her either, for she was born of an enemy race. Yet sometimes the road to redemption is one that singes us to our very core. And if I fail to find the answers I need to save Phoebe, more than just my wife will die.

We will lose the world. Both human and Daimon.

Tor Books: "Ball Lightning" Cixin Liu (Translated by Joel Martinsen)

When Chen’s parents are incinerated before his eyes by a blast of ball lightning, he devotes his life to cracking the secret of this mysterious natural phenomenon. His search takes him to stormy mountaintops, an experimental military weapons lab, and an old Soviet science station.

The more he learns, the more he comes to realize that ball lightning is just the tip of an entirely new frontier. While Chen’s quest for answers gives purpose to his lonely life, it also pits him against soldiers and scientists with motives of their own: a beautiful army major with an obsession with dangerous weaponry, and a physicist who has no place for ethical considerations in his single-minded pursuit of knowledge.

CIXIN LIU is a prolific and popular science fiction writer in the People's Republic of China. Liu is a winner of the Hugo Award and a multiple winner of the Galaxy Award (the Chinese Hugo) and the Xing Yun Award (the Chinese Nebula). He lives with his family in Yangquan, Shanxi.

Kino Lorber: "A Film by Tony Zierra: FILM WORKER" on DVD

It’s a rare person who would give up fame and fortune to toil in obscurity for someone else’s creative vision. Yet, that’s exactly what Leon Vitali did after his acclaimed performance as Lord Bullingdon in Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon. The young actor surrendered his thriving career to become Kubrick’s loyal right-hand man. For more than two decades, Leon played a crucial role behind-the-scenes helping Kubrick make and maintain his legendary body of work. The complex, interdependent relationship between Leon and Kubrick was founded on devotion, sacrifice and the grueling, joyful reality of the creative process. By entering their unique world we come to understand how the mundane gives rise to the magnificent as timeless cinema is brought to life at its most practical and profound level.

As Kubrick aficionados we were well aware of Leon Vitali: assistant to the director. We admired his great performances in Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut and we knew he had been a key member of Kubrick’s inner circle for many years. When we finally met Leon through our work on another related project, we were struck by his kindness, humility and the fascinating scope of his story. Here was a man who had been a successful actor at a young age, but had given up his high-profile, glamorous life to work tirelessly behind-the-scenes for Kubrick. What compelled him to make such an unusual, self-sacrificing choice? Filmworker explores the bittersweet consequences of Leon’s life-changing decision, and the fierce exhilaration of working closely with one of the most brilliant yet demanding artists in cinema history.

MVD Entertainment Group: "BLOODY SPEAR AT MOUNT FUJI" (1955) [Blu-ray]

Praised by Japanese film critics and much admired by his contemporaries Akira Kurosawa and Yasujirô Ozu, Tomu Uchida nonetheless remains a little-known in the west. His 1955 masterpiece Bloody Spear at Mount Fuji is an excellent entry point for the newcomer. Set during the Edo period, Bloody Spear at Mount Fuji is a tragicomic road movie of sorts, following a samurai, his two servants - including spear-carrier Genpachi (Chiezô Kataoka) - and the various people they meet on their journey, including a policeman in pursuit of a thief, a young child and a woman who is to be sold into prostitution.

Winner of a prestigious Blue Ribbon Award for supporting actor - and Kurosawa regular - Daisuke Katô, Bloody Spear at Mount Fuji is a film deserving of much wider international recognition.

MVD Entertainment Group: "THE DAY OF THE JACKAL" (1973) [Blu-ray]

In 1971, Frederick Forsythe shot to bestseller status with his debut novel, The Day of the Jackal - taut, utterly plausible, almost documentarian in its realism and attention to detail. Two years later, director Fred Zinnemann (High Noon) turned a gripping novel into a nail-biting cinematic experience. August 1962: the latest attempt on the life of French President Charles de Gaulle by the far-right paramilitary organization, the OAS, ends in chaos, with its architect-in-chief dead at the hands of a firing squad. Demoralized and on the verge of bankruptcy, the OAS leaders meet in secret to plan their next move. In a last desperate attempt to eliminate de Gaulle, they opt to employ the services of a hired assassin from outside the fold. Enter the Jackal (Edward Fox, Gandhi): charismatic, calculating, cold as ice.

As the Jackal closes in on his target, a race against the clock ensues to identify and put a stop to a killer whose identity, whereabouts and modus operandi are completely unknown. Co-starring a plethora of talent from both sides of the Channel, including Michael Lonsdale (Munich), Derek Jacobi (The Odessa File) and Cyril Cusack (1984) and featuring striking cinematography by Jean Tournier (Moonraker), The Day of the Jackal remains one of the greatest political thrillers of all time.

MVD Entertainment Group: "THE HIRED HAND" (1971) [Blu-ray]

Having been at the forefront of America's here-and-now with Easy Rider and the counterculture movies of Roger Corman, Peter Fonda retreated to the past and the American West for his directorial debut, The Hired Hand. Fonda plays Harry, a man who deserted his wife and child to explore the wide-open plains with his best friend Archie (Warren Oates). "Tired of the life" he decides to finally return home in order to rekindle his marriage and reacquaint himself with his daughter.

Scripted by Alan Sharp (Ulzana's Raid, Night Moves), shot by Vilmos Zsigmond (Blow Out, The Long Goodbye) and with a standout score by folk musician Bruce Langhorne, The Hired Hand is a beautiful, elegiac picture that ranks alongside The Outlaw Josey Wales and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid as one of the finest Westerns the seventies had to offer.

MVD Entertainment Group: "TIDELAND" (2005) [Blu-ray]

For his tenth feature, Terry Gilliam (Time Bandits, Twelve Monkeys) adapted Mitch Cullin's celebrated cult novel Tideland, a work he once described as "Alice in Wonderland meets Psycho through the eyes of Amélie." To escape her unhappy life in a remote part of Texas, nine-year-old Jeliza-Rose dreams up an elaborate fantasy world. But the reality of having junkie parents - played by Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski) and Jennifer Tilly (Bound) - and the influence of her eccentric neighbours begins to encroach, turning her daydreams ever darker.

A rich slice of Southern Gothic blurring whimsical fantasy with unsettling reality, Tideland is among Gilliam's most personal works - indeed, with its shifts between the amusing and the macabre, expressive camerawork and striking special effects, the film could be the very definition of Gilliamesque!

Caldera Records: "NOT AFRAID, NOT AFRAID" Music by Gabriel Yared

Caldera Records is proud to present the original score for the motion picture “Not Afraid, Not Afraid” from 2001, directed by Annette Carducci, featuring music by Gabriel Yared.

It is a dramedy about a highly dysfunctional family, and a woman who must learn to become a better person when facing death. Paula is an attractive and smart psychologist whose series of self-help parenting guides are a big hit. Unfortunately, her own family life is quite catastrophic as her relationship with her own children and the husband she is divorced from is practically non-existent. When she gets convinced that she is suffering from cancer, Paula decides to solve at least some of her problems, but an attempt at reconciling her differences with her grown-up children Sarah and Matthew leads to more grievance and quarrels. Unfortunately, the film was never released in theatres, and therefore did not reach a wide audience. Even after the production company re-edited the movie, it decided against distributing it.

For Gabriel Yared, “Not Afraid, Not Afraid” was a smaller, personal project that he still associates with pleasant memories, regardless of the film’s afterlife. For the recording, Gabriel Yared assembled the Modigliani Quartet, augmented by clarinettist Paul Meyer (now a well-known conductor), and famous jazz harmonica player Jean-Jacques Milteau. The score is built around a main theme that’s deceptively simple, as a piano motive receives some folksy undertones by the harmonica. The main theme is written for Tom and his constant optimism, which is then transferred to multiple instruments, including the guitar. There’s an inherent sweetness to the score whenever it focuses on the heart and soul of the story, providing a joyful accompaniment even when things don’t look so bright. The 25th CD-release of Caldera Records features a detailed booklet-text by Gergely Hubai and elegant artwork by Luis Miguel Rojas. The CD was produced by Stephan Eicke and John Elborg. [http://caldera-records.com/]

Been enjoying the score "Not Afraid, Not Afraid" by composer Gabriel Yared... It's subtle, filled with charm and a little perky at times. It has a great sense of being as a score, I am also sure could stand on it's own from the film.

WaterTower Music: "THE MEG" Music by Harry Gregson-Williams

WaterTower Music has announced today’s release of the soundtrack to the science fiction action thriller “The Meg,” directed by Jon Turteltaub (the “National Treasure” movies), which will be released in theaters August 10, 2018. The soundtrack features music from the film composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (“The Town,” the “Equalizer” films, the “Shrek” franchise), and will be released on August 3rd, one week before the film is in theaters.

Harry Gregson-Williams is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after composers, whose scores span the spectrum of high-profile projects from action to drama to animation – each infused with the emotional punch and atmospheric intensity that mark his distinctive musical style.  The Golden Globe- and Grammy Award-nominated composer offers, “For ‘The Meg,’ I set out to create a memorable recognizable sonic motif which follows the mystery of the great Megalodon—something robust in nature, which acted as a kind of warning call and instilled an immediate sense of fear and suspense when signaled.  In search of this sound, I stumbled upon the conch as an instrument of musical focus.  Its call was both distinctive and ancient, and I felt it offered a voice to the vast terror of a concealed underwater world.

“Working with Jon Turteltaub has been one of the most enjoyable collaborative experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a part of,” Gregson-Williams continued.  “He would arrive at my studio bringing with him the unbridled optimism and unique humor that only Jon possesses.  He regularly took the time to remind me that the film should always feel fun, exciting, and anticipatory, and encouraged me to direct that positive energy into the music at each step of the process.  In the end, I hope I was able to achieve an edge-of-your-seat score that helps the audience to immerse themselves in this dynamic feature film that Jon so masterfully created.”

Intrada "NATE AND HAYES" [2Cd] Music by TREVOR JONES

Intrada presents an absolute gem this week, a dramatically expanded edition of Trevor Jones’ magnificent, sweeping score for for the 1983 Paramount film Nate and Hayes. Throughout film history, there has been a wealth of great and legendary film scores for swashbucklers, pirate adventures and other dramas set upon the sea, and Nate and Hayes has a solid place among them. The well-produced, previous issue necessitated a heavily truncated 40-minute program, presenting only half the score. This new Intrada 2-CD presentation offers all the music Jones recorded in London. Since the score’s running time is just short of 80 minutes (not including alternates and additional music from the sessions), this presentation features the full film score on CD 1 and presents all the extra material on a second, shorter “bonus” CD.  Jones’ score for Nate and Hayes is an intoxicating blend of adventure, romance and skullduggery. Painted on a vast canvas it is held together structurally by a number of recurring themes subtly varied by the composer throughout the film. For those who admire his score to The Dark Crystal, Nate and Hayes scored just one year later shares many of the same sensibilities of the earlier score, making them excellent companions.

In the film, Captain Bully Hayes (Tommy Lee Jones) is illegally selling arms to South Pacific islanders when the deal goes bad and he and his men must fight off a tribe of female warriors. Hayes escapes, but falls into the hands of his erstwhile friend—but now archenemy— Ben Pease (Max Phipps). Awaiting execution in a Spanish prison, Hayes tells his story to an intrepid reporter, starting with Hayes transporting a spunky English girl, Sophie (Jenny Seagrove) and Nate Williamson (Michael O’Keefe), to a remote island where they are to be married by Nate’s missionary uncle. Pease and his crew interrupt the ceremony, murdering the uncle, kidnapping Sophie and carrying the natives off to slavery.  Nate and Hayes (both of whom are now in love with Sophie) arrive in the nick of time and rescue her.

Lakeshore Records: "PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH" Music by Fabio Frizzi

Lakeshore Records and Fangoria Presents have teamed up to release Puppet Master:  The Littlest Reich—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack which features an original score by legendary film composer Fabio Frizzi (Zombie, City of the Living Dead, The Beyond), digitally on August 10th with a vinyl version forthcoming.  This is the first soundtrack to fall underneath the banner Fangoria Presents from Cinestate.  Written by by S. Craig Zahler (Brawl in Cell Block 99, Bone Tomahawk) and starring Thomas Lennon, Udo Kier and Barbara Crampton, the film was produced by Cinestate in conjunction with Fangoria and will have a limited release in theatres beginning August 17th.  Based on the Charles Band cult classic, the new reimagining of the Puppet Master series has been garnering rave reviews for it’s over the top gore and dark humor.

Recently divorced and reeling, Edgar returns to his childhood home to regroup his life. When Edgar finds a nefarious looking puppet in his deceased brother’s room, he decides to sell the doll for some quick cash. Girl-next-door Ashley and and comic book pal Markowitz join Edgar for a doomed road trip to an auction at a convention celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders. All hell breaks loose when a strange force animates the puppets at the convention, setting them on a bloody killing spree that’s motivated by an evil as old as time.

Says Frizzi: “I started working early in film music. It was the beginning of the 70s, Italian cinema was very prosperous, and there were productions of all kinds. I remember that the common element among them was enthusiasm, a deep love for what is called the seventh art, and is for many producers, directors, screenwriters, and workers first of all, a passion. It's been a long time, but Cinestate involved me in this new adventure, which has had many points in common with my early experience in film music. In each one of them I found that atmosphere, that enthusiasm, that strong passion for cinema. And I immediately felt at home.

This score is dedicated to my brother Fabrizio, with whom I shared 60 years of fun and hopes.”
