THE PROTECTOR 2 brings the wires, the C.G.I. and the boring.

Both THE PROTECTOR (Aka HONOR OF THE BEAST) and ONG BAK were hard hitting films that brought kung-fu back to the basics.  Those two films showcased the amazing martial arts abilities of Tony Jaa who should be considered the next Bruce Lee.  Their focus was on Tony Jaa in fight after fight after fight.  The stories were there if you cared but we were all astounded at Tony Jaa's abilities to run along a crowd of peoples' shoulders or dart up a wall effortlessly or hurdle through a small wreathe of barbed wire.  There was no wires when he jumped.  There was no C.G.I. flames when his legs were lit on fire and he had to kick the crap out of some punks on bikes.  It was all him and that is what made the movies great.  People were really hit in those fight scenes.  All of it was filmed perfectly.  Now, I don't know what happened but THE PROTECTOR 2 (AKA HONOR OF THE BEAST 2 probably.) pretends to do all of that stuff and hopes that we the audience are really into C.G.I. cars, C.G.I. explosions and C.G.I. removed wires.  I cannot speak for you but as for me I am not. La-La Land Records: THE IN-LAWS [SCORE] - John Morris

La-La Land Records and Warner Bros. present the world premiere release of John Morris’ (BLAZING SADDLES, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, CLUE) original motion picture score to the 1979 classic comedy THE IN-LAWS, starring Peter Falk, Alan Arkin and Richard Libertini, and directed by Arthur Hiller. Acclaimed composer John Morris finds the perfect pitch with his rousing and delightful orchestral score -- supporting story, character and action with verve, while expertly enhancing, but never stepping on, all the big laughs.

The daughter of mild-mannered Manhattan dentist Sheldon "Shelly" Kornpett (Alan Arkin) and the son of businessman Vince Ricardo (Peter Falk) are engaged to be married. At an introductory dinner in which Shelly meets his new in-law Vince, he finds Vince suspicious; during the dinner, Vince tells a crazy story of a nine-month "consulting" trip to 1954 Guatemala ("the jungle" or "the bush", as Vince calls it). Vince's son and wife seem oblivious. Shelly pleads with his daughter not to marry into the Ricardo clan, since he mistrusts Vince. However, Shelly agrees to give Vince a chance.

Interview with Actor/Producer... Paul Porter

Not only are we finishing up the interviews with the great cast, now we get to chat it up with the producer/writer/actor/director/etc... Paul Porter. I didnn't spend nearly enough time talking about all the hats this man does wear, though in a production like "RABID LOVE" you do what is needed to get the job done.
Jeremy [Howlin' Wolf]

Jeremy [HWR]: As your character "John Allen" in "Rabid Love"... is there one trait you played and felt you connected from your real life?

Paul Porter: Well, I’m not an actor at all, so whenever I ‘act’, I’m really just being myself.  I was always picturing John as me during the writing and then it ended up being most convenient for the feature that I play him since we were trying to keep the cast and crew as small as possible.  I guess one trait I played up with John is him being the quiet type- I’m not a talker in real life and really only communicate vocally when absolutely necessary.  But I also kept John’s lines in the movie to a minimum because I’m a horrible actor : )

Jeremy [HWR]: Working on the film "Rabid Love" what was one of the best and worst moments you remember during the making of "Rabid Love”?

Paul Porter: I think the best moment was pretty much anytime we were shooting because, like any project, we had been writing/developing/pre-producing for such a long time that it was just so cool to actually be on set and seeing the story that had only been in our heads and on paper come to life in front of us.  I honestly can’t say that there were any bad moments I remember- it was a fun, easy shoot and what little problems we had were pretty easily overcome.

Jeremy [HWR]: Do you feel many independent films that in the horror genre are missing the point on how to get there audience?

Paul Porter: Not really- I think most of them know exactly how to get to their audience- boobs and blood.  We’ve come to love the horror community and they’re extremely supportive and cool, BUT, one thing I really don’t like about it is how many terribly written and produced movies are out there that are huge hits just because they include gratuitous nudity and gore while completely disregarding the story, characters, and overall art of filmmaking.  Something we deliberately avoided with RL was the ‘grind house’ feel that most indies go for- we wanted to stay true to the spirit of fun, somewhat wholesome 80’s movies and not play the easy, cheap thrill card.

Jeremy [HWR]: If you could go "Rabid" for one thing, what would it be... and why?
Paul Porter: Queen!   Because- Queen, duh.  :)

Last summer, before heading to a galaxy far, far away, pioneering director J.J. Abrams delivered an explosive action thriller that took Star Trek Into Darkness. In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice.  As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

HAUNT
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed by Reinhold Heil

A mother and father and their three teenage children move to a new home that was the scene of a “personal tragedy.” The son meets a mysterious neighbor girl and together they experiment with an old radio they find in the attic, which can be used to communicate with the dead. Something is unleashed that brings new horror.
WICKED BLOOD
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed by Elia Cmiral

Hannah Lee (Abigail Breslin) is a bright teen girl trapped in the dark Southern underworld of violence and guns, drugs and vicious biker gangs. Neglected by her angry sister Amber (Alexa Vega), her only refuge is her troubled uncle Donny (Lew Temple) who is a drug addict. Both live in fear of "Uncle Frank" Stinson (Sean Bean) who runs the illegal family business with an iron fist, aided by his psychotic younger brother Bobby (Jake Busey). But when Amber falls in love with family rival Wild Bill (James Purefoy), Hannah realizes there is no escape from the ruthless Stinsons and cleverly schemes to pit one pawn against another in a cunning game of revenge.

NO GOD, NO MASTER
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed and Conducted by Nuno Malo

When a series of package bombs show up on the doorsteps of prominent politicians and businessmen in the summer of 1919, U.S. Bureau of Investigation Agent William Flynn (David Strathairn) is assigned the task of finding those responsible. He becomes immersed in an investigation that uncovers an anarchist plot to destroy democracy. Inspired by true events of the ’20s, the film sets the stage for a timely thriller with resoundingly similar parallels to the contemporary war on terrorism and the role government plays to defeat it.

POP QUIZ: SCORE/SOUNDTRACK LOVERS

POP QUIZ: SCORE/SOUNDTRACK LOVERS
What is your favorite score of all time, why?
What is your favorite score in 2014, why?
What is your favorite weird score, why?

THESE ARE MY CHOICES!

A: Edward Scissorhands - Danny Elfman...
One of the most lovely score, but doesn't hold back when it wants to get your attention.

A: X-Men: Days of Future Past - John Ottman...
So far this year I think I have gone back to this score the most, it's get to have John Ottman back on this franchise.

A: Gothic - Thomas Dolby...
Maybe it's the film over the score, but this is the first one that came to mind. It's this one of or the film score to "Gothic" by Thomas Dolby, which is two of the weirdest tracks of music. I think I went and made a breakdown for each different part of this score, just to give it more of a fine tuning.

Please share your thoughts on your favorites...

Buckaroo Banzai Against The World Crime League
Still waiting for 30 years for this film to have it's moment in the sun, though we can dream. Have high hopes that the adventures will get beyond the realm of the 8th dimension. Only mentioned in the end of the film credits, it has sparked a world wide conversation amongst fans of this film.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!, often shortened to Buckaroo Banzai, is a 1984 American science fiction film. It was directed and produced by W. D. Richter, and concerns the efforts of the multi-talented Dr. Buckaroo Banzai, a physicist, neurosurgeon, test pilot, and rock musician, to save the world by defeating a band of inter-dimensional aliens called Red Lectroids from Planet 10. The film is a cross between the action/adventure and sci-fi film genres and also includes elements of comedy, satire, and romance.

Scarlett Johansson and that brings me in and the crazy storyline second.

Alais realizes that her destiny lies in keeping the secret of the labyrinth safe.  Eight centuries later Alice Tanner (Kirby) realizes she's disturbed something that was meant to remain hidden.  Somehow, a link to a horrific past - Alice's own past - has been revealed.
