Universal Studios Home Entertainment: "LITTLE" now on DIGITAL and soon on [BLU-RAY/DVD]

The big boss gets a small dose of karma in LITTLE, an inventive new twist on the “body swap” comedy. The film arrives on Digital and the all-new digital movie app MOVIES ANYWHERE on June 25, 2019 and on Blu-Ray™, DVD, and On Demand July 9, 2019 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Hailed by critics as “big fun” (Shawn Edwards, FOX-TV), LITTLE shines a bright light on the incredible talent of the three female leads and shows the true meaning of Black Girl Magic. This light-hearted, comedic and heartwarming film on Blu-rayTM, DVD and Digital comes packed with lively exclusive bonus features including a gag reel, behind-the-scenes featurettes, a hilarious “mockumentary” featuring Regina Hall and a special “Assistant Survival Guide” presented by Issa Rae.

LITTLE is an irreverent new comedy about the price of success, the power of sisterhood and having a second chance to grow up — and glow up — right. Regina Hall (Girls Trip, “Black Monday”) and Marsai Martin (Black-ish) both star as Jordan Sanders — Hall as the take-no-prisoners tech mogul adult version of Jordan and Martin as the 13-year-old version of her who wakes up in her adult self’s penthouse just before a do-or-die presentation. Issa Rae (“Insecure,” The Hate You Give) plays Jordan’s long-suffering assistant April. Using heart and humor, LITTLE teaches us to not shy away but to celebrate the greatest and most authentic versions of ourselves.

Filled with laugh-out-loud moments from beginning to end and amusing bonus content, LITTLE makes the perfect movie for a Girls Night In! The film is based on an idea by Marsai Martin, who also serves as an executive producer, alongside Regina Hall, Preston Holmes (Girls Trip, Night School), and Josh Martin. Little is directed by Tina Gordon (What Men Want, Drumline), produced by Will Packer (Girls Trip, Night School), and also stars Justin Hartley (“This Is Us”, A Bad Moms Christmas).

Sony Music/Masterworks: "THE MUSIC OF HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD: IN FOUR CONTEMPORARY SUITES" BY IMOGEN HEAP

Following its hugely successfully, critically acclaimed digital and CD album release, THE MUSIC OF HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, an album of music from the internationally acclaimed stage production, is available now as a limited edition, 2-LP deluxe vinyl set from Sony Music Masterworks.  Newly pressed on 180-gram vinyl for maximum audio fidelity, the set arrives within a gatefold jacket featuring gold foil artwork and embossed lettering.  Also included in the deluxe vinyl edition is an 8-page, large-format booklet containing production shots and commentary from Imogen Heap and key members of the production’s creative team.

Available everywhere to stream and download, The Music of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was written, composed, performed and recorded by GRAMMY and Ivor Novello Award-winner Imogen Heap. Presented as four contemporary musical suites, each showcasing one of the play’s theatrical acts, the unique new album format from Imogen Heap chronologically features the music heard in the stage production, further reworked to transport listeners on a sonic journey through the world of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

“This album is like nothing I’ve ever attempted before,” says Imogen Heap of The Music of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.  “It’s four suites containing music from each of the four acts of the play.  With over 100 moments of music in the play, the challenge was how to weave them together, and I think it has manifested into a really enjoyable listen, with memories for those who’ve seen the play, musical accompaniment to those with the script of the play or simply just to enjoy the music as a stand-alone album. It is crafted to be listened to in its entirety, taking the listener through different worlds within each suite. I don’t know another album like it. I hope others enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.”

Produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions and based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new play by Jack Thorne, directed by John Tiffany with movement by Steven Hoggett, set by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music and arrangements by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, illusions and magic by Jamie Harrison, music supervision and arrangements by Martin Lowe.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is now playing at the Palace Theatre in London, where it received its world premiere in July 2016; at the Lyric Theatre in New York, where it opened on Broadway in April 2018; and at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne, where it opened in February. Upcoming productions include the exclusive U.S. West Coast premiere in San Francisco at the Curran later this year; the German premiere, the first foreign language production, at the Mehr! Theater am Großmarkt in Hamburg in spring of 2020; and, the Canadian premiere at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto in autumn of 2020.

MVD Entertainment Group: "HOLD BACK THE THE DAWN" (1941) [BLU-RAY]

From one of the most underrated directors of Hollywood's golden era, Mitchell Leisen (Remember the Night), comes the heart-rending romantic drama Hold Back the Dawn... Charles Boyer (Gaslight) gives an enthralling performance as Georges Iscovescu, a Romanian-born gigolo who arrives at a Mexican border town seeking entry to the US. Faced with a waiting period of eight years, George is encouraged by his former dancing partner Anita (Pauline Goddard, Modern Times) to marry an American girl and desert her once safely across the border.

He successfully targets visiting school teacher Emmy Brown (Olivia de Havilland, Gone with the Wind), but his plan is compromised by a pursuing immigration officer, and blossoming feelings of genuine love for Emmy. A moving and thoughtful film with a wonderful script (co-written by Billy Wilder), Hold back the Dawn benefits from evocative performances by Boyer and de Havilland, and an over-arching sense of romantic melancholy. An enduring classic of its era, Leisen's film was nominated for no-less than six Academy Awards and is presented here in High Definition for the first time.

MVD Entertainment Group: "THE LOVELESS" (1981) [BLU-RAY/DVD]

THEY'RE GOING NOWHERE... FAST! The United States, late 1950s. A time of generational conflict, of immense social change, of bold fashions and toe-tapping music - just some of the elements that collide in thrilling fashion in The Loveless, the feature debut of both its star, Willem Dafoe (To Live and Die in LA), and its directors, Monty Montgomery (producer, David Lynch's Wild at Heart) and future Academy Award®-winner* Kathryn Bigelow (Near Dark, Detroit). A motorcycle gang roars into a small southern town en route to the Daytona races, unnerving and angering the locals with their standoffish attitude and disrespect for social niceties.

When one of their number, the charismatic Vance (Dafoe), hooks up with sports-car-driving Telena (Marin Kanter, Endangered Species), he incurs the wrath of the girl's father, setting the gang on a collision course with the rest of the town as simmering tensions boil over into violent retribution. Raw, angry and honest, The Loveless evokes, with unflinching clarity, both an attitude and a bygone era, exploring the tensions between two very different Americas - now fully restored and presented in high definition for the first time in this feature-packed new edition from Arrow Video! * 2010, Best Director, Best Picture: The Hurt Locker. KeepMoving Records: "OPEN BOOK" music by Nikolai Martynov

“Open Book” Original Soundtrack from The Television Mini-Series... Written by Russian author Veniamin Alexandrovich Kaverin, Open Book (Otkrytaya kniga) is one of the great classics of Soviet literature. The story was turned into a feature film in 1973 and later it was turned into a nine-part television mini-series. Helmed by prominent producer Victor Titov, the first four episodes premiered in 1977, while another five were shot a year later with some central parts recast – this batch was first televised in 1980. The music for both halves of the series was written by composer Nikolay Martynov.

Born in Leningrad in 1938, Martynov graduated from the local conservatory as a musicologist from the class of Mikhail Druskin. As an artist, his key research were Dmitry Shostakovich and Russian choral music. Throughout the years he penned four symphonies, operas (Galileo, Cherry Orchard) and ballets (Hercules, Petersburg Dreams). In terms of screen music, he lent his talents to some 30 projects, the best-known of which are serialized television adaptations of classic literary works such as Maxim Gorky’s The Life of Klim Samgin and of course Open Book.

This release of Nikolay Martynov’s Open Book is a rare example of Russian television scoring available commercially. Only a handful of tapes survive of this era as neither the studios, nor the composers saw too much potential in television scores. For Open Book, only the music from the first half (Parts 1-4) survived. It’s a rare treasure to hear a film score recording from the 1970s with conductor Vladislav Chernushenko instructing the Leningrad State Philharmonic as well as the Choir of the Leningrad Chapel. Liner notes by Gergely Hubai discuss the film and the score based on an all-new interview with the composer!

Pointing out this is a great score and I am thrilled to be able to cover this... not familiar with the Russian television show. I feel the score is outstanding with composer Nikolay Martynov bringing a sweet, though very powerful piece. Welcome back "KeepMoving Records" it's been awhile for sure, though in my heart you have never left.

ECHO SOCIETY CO-FOUNDER & RENOWNED COMPOSER ROB SIMONSEN SIGNS TO SONY MUSIC MASTERWORKS

With an impressive resume of film scores under his belt while having created a living legacy in the Los Angeles "new music" world via The Echo Society, composer Rob Simonsen launches a new chapter in his already successful career by signing to Sony Music Masterworks as a recording artist, with his label debut album set for a Fall 2019 release. To celebrate his signing, he's shared a new video from "Spectre" that he self-directed, featuring some unforgettable imagery that begins to frame up his thought-provoking modern compositions amongst a living and breathing natural aesthetic -- watch here.

"Spectre is about mystery, melancholy and wonder, " Rob describes. "The feeling of awakening from a dream, or waking into a dream. It was created entirely in Studios Les Saint Germain in Paris, France, with my co-producers Raphael Hamburger and Stan Neff. I wanted to use the colors of brass, cellos, choir, an ondes martenot, and piano. We brought in brilliant players who gave it great life and vibe. It is the first installment of a trilogy of music videos I directed, which starts with the awakening of a being and the journey they embark on.”

Having learned to play the piano at a young age and with an educational background in jazz, electronic and traditional orchestral music, Simonsen has lent his scoring talents to a wide range of film projects.  Since the early 2000s, he’s worked on an expansive list of film soundtracks, among them The Front Runner, Love, Simon, Nerve, Foxcatcher, The Way, Way Back and The Spectacular Now.  He also provided additional music with his mentor Mychael Danna for scores such as Moneyball and Ang Lee's Life Of Pi.

But they can't stop her from dreaming, and Cinderella has faith that someday her wishes will come true. When an invitation to the royal ball arrives, Cinderella is sure her time has come — until her stepsisters, with the encouragement of Lady Tremaine, tear her gown to shreds. Just when Cinderella believes all is lost, her Fairy Godmother appears, and with a wave of her wand and “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” transforms an ordinary pumpkin into a magnificent coach and Cinderella’s rags into a gorgeous gown, then sends her off to the Royal Ball. But Cinderella’s enchanted evening must end when the spell is broken at midnight. It will take the help of her daring animal mice friends and a perfect fit into a glass slipper to create the ultimate fairy tale ending.

Intrada: "HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U" music by Bear McCreary

In 2017, Universal Pictures released the Blumhouse film Happy Death Day about college student Tree (Jessica Rothe) who relives the same day over and over, getting murdered each time until she's able to solve the mystery of who keeps killing her and breaks the cycle. The slasher black comedy was produced by Jason Blum and directed by Christopher Landon, and was so successful that it resulted in a sequel, Happy Death Day 2U. In the sequel, Tree finds herself once again reliving the same day, but a sci-fi element is introduced, as it turns out a science experiment is responsible not only for her daily repetition, but also thrusting her into an alternate universe. Now she must identify the killer and decide if she will stay in this alternate universe or return home.

Returning for this sequel is Bear McCreary, one of the most dramatically prolific and talented composers working today. In 2019 alone he has composed the scores for The Professor and the Madman, Rim of the World, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and the upcoming Child's Play. Building on his score for the first film, Happy Death Day 2U expands beyond the slasher focus of the first film and emphasizes the sci-fi aspect, with large, dramatic orchestral scoring, like a cousin to his music for films like The Cloverfield Paradox. With many lengthy cues, the album is a dramatic and entertaining listening experience and is Intrada's first McCreary album.

This Intrada release on CD is courtesy of Back lot Music, who released the soundtrack digitally.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe made their retail debut in 1982 as executives at Mattel wanted their own line of action figures to compete with Kenner's blockbuster Star Wars toys.  Masters of the Universe went on to huge success in the 80s and spawned comics, a cartoon series and a movie produced by Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus for their company Cannon Group.  Released in 1987, the film stars Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella.  It would go on to become a cult classic and notably became one of Cannon's last films.  Featuring a blockbuster score by Bill Conti (Rocky, Karate Kid, For Your Eyes Only) we are proud to offer this score as a 500 unit limited edition. Caldera Records: "Ambition" music by Leonard Rosenman

One of the stars of the film is, undoubtedly, a man behind the scenes: Leonard Rosenman. It was clear to Rosenman and Scott Goldstein that the score should have a progressive, rather than conventional harmonic structure. They agreed that this would help to underscore Merrick’s (the antagonist) horrific, troubling visions and this approach would help capture his state of mind musically. Goldstein suggested Rosenman play him some of his concert music as a blueprint for “Ambition”. Encouraged to be able to draw upon his “progressive” work for the concert stage, Rosenman presented Goldstein with “Foci”, a work for chamber orchestra that the composer had written in 1981 and revised in 1983. Goldstein loved what he heard and commenced to use “Foci” as temp music for “Ambition”. “Foci” is an atonal piece, complex and full of anxiety – exactly what Goldstein needed for his motion picture.

Honestly never heard of this film, but know the actors and definitely know the work of this composer. Starting out strong as we take the path of a little innocence, we begin to feel it's certain stength and musical intentions. Suspense and intrigue are as to follow, nice use of plotting sounds and a theme that hold their own. [http://caldera-records.com/]

MovieScore Media: "THE SPY WHO FELL TO EARTH" music by Robin Schlochtermeier

MovieScore Media’s latest release in the genre of documentaries is The Spy Who Fell to Earth with music by composer Robin Schlochtermeier. Written and directed by Tom Meadmore, the Netflix documentary deals with one of the lesser-known chapters of the Middle-Eastern conflict as political commentator / historia Ahron “Ronnie” Bregman gets more deeply invested in the search for a mysterious Egyptian spy, whose secrets slowly consume him until the whole plot unravels with tragic consequences. The Spy Who Fell to Earth is more engaging than most Hollywood spy thrillers - with the added bonus of being a true story that’s still in the making to some degree.

“The score for The Spy Who Fell to Earth was written first and foremost to help support the story elements of the documentary” explains Robin Schlochtermeier about the music. ”These include the conflict between Egypt and Israel, journalist Ronnie Bregman’s obsession with the enigmatic Egyptian spy Ashraf Marwan, Marwan himself, and the secret services. The director, Thomas Meadmore, also gets his own thoughtful and open-ended theme, as his line of questioning deepens into author Ronnie Bregman’s personal motivations. Musically the score draws on a rich tradition of espionage thrillers for its driving rhythms and unconventional time signatures. There are also some nods to Middle Eastern culture with some Darabuka and the Bendir drum rhythms. The score is quite action-packed for a documentary, with even a tense war scene underscore!”

Robin Schlochtermeier is an award-winning composer for film, television and commercials. He won the award for Best Music for his original score for the psychological thriller Retreat at the British Independent Film Festival. Retreat was also nominated in six other categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. He has also composed the music for award-winning broadcast documentaries, for the features Queens of Syria (Black Pearl Award, Abu Dhabi Film Festival), Oh No, Not Rudy Again! (EFM Cannes), and for Strings (British Independent Film Award).

The soundtrack has a digital release date of  May 31, 2019.  On the link below, you can view a video, featuring a suite from the score: [https://youtu.be/16uAK3vaowY]

MovieScore Media: "RORY'S WAY" music by Frank Ilfman

Coinciding with the film’s release to UK cinemas on May 31, MovieScore Media once again teams up with composer Frank Ilfman (Big Bad Wolves, Sensoria) to release the emotionally-charged music, Celtic-flavoured score for Rory’s Way. Based on Jose Luis Sampedro’s novel The Etruscan Smile, Rory’s Way stars acclaimed British actor Brian Cox as Rory MacNeil, a rugged old Scotsman who reluctantly leaves his beloved isolated Hebridean island and travels to San Francisco to seek medical treatment. Moving in with his estranged son, Rory sees his life transformed through a newly found bond with his baby grandson.

Rory’s way is a very emotional and heartfelt story with a strong Celtic identity," explains Frank Ilfman about his contributions to the picture. "The music is very melodic in its core, using a large orchestra comprise of strings, winds, percussion and some Celtic instruments to represent Rory’s heritage. I composed three themes that represent Rory’s character, his son and Rory’s relationship with his grandson always keeping central the strong emotions between the three generations."

Frank Ilfman originally studied trombone and piano at the Jaffa Conservatorium of Music, then at the age of thirteen he was joined the Tel Aviv Dixieland Band where he played lead trombone in addition to arranging for them. His passion for film music was ignited when a visit to Bavaria Studios got him introduced to German composer Klaus Doldinger, who was scoring The Neverending Story at that time. Since starting out, Frank had scored over sixty films and television projects. His breakthrough was written for Big Bad Wolves whose music won a Saturn Award shortly after being issued by MovieScore Media. Some of Ilfman’s other recent credits include the monster movie Abulele, the supernatural thriller Sensoria (also available from ScreamWorks Records) and the new logo of Legendary Pictures.

Silva Screen Records: "TIN STAR" music by Adrian Corker

Composer Adrian Corker's rich, adventurous and unpredictable soundtrack to Sky Atlantic's contemporary western series set in the Canadian Rockies. Created by Rowan Joffé (28 Days Later, Brighton Rock) and starring Tim Roth, Genevieve O'Reilly and Christina Hendricks.

Tin Star skips from light to dark, from intimate to epic, from emotional to comic and the music provides the counterpoint to the capricious moods and performances. The revenge storyline inspired an atmospheric and twangy, at times uneasy and anxious soundtrack. With glimmers of twisted folk tunes submerging in contorted, string laden, columns of slowly moving harmonies, the soundtrack unfolds as distinctive, original and surprising throughout the 2 seasons of the show. With the amalgamation of rich and eccentric characters, visuals and soundtrack, it is not surprising that Sky Atlantic is currently in the process of commissioning the 3rd series.

Says Adrian Corker "I worked closely with Rowan Joffe and some of the directors on the music and was given free rein so I was able to include musical ideas and language that aren’t always heard in TV music. Many of the players are from the new music world so have a vast array of techniques at their disposal... It is one of the fun things of Tin Star that no one discourages trying new things and being experimental and ambitious and I think that is reflected in what you finally see and hear. Silva Screen Music: "GOOD OMENS" music by David Arnold

Composer David Arnold’s soundtrack to the highly anticipated TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 comic fable that packs a punch.

Following the odd couple, angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) in their quest to sabotage the end of the World, Amazon Prime's six episode mini-series delivers a tongue in cheek adaptation of this powerful and funny story.

From the Award-winning composer of Sherlock and Casino Royale comes a soundtrack that perfectly complements the Good Omens’ drama and visual sensibilities. At times nostalgic and eerie but always varied, beautiful and full of excitement, this robust, yet funny music entity has become another character in the story. Here, Arnold has created a contemporary soundworld for heaven and hell.

The closing song is Tori Amos’ version of A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square, a British wartime favorite referenced at the end of the book, conjuring feelings of separation and pining for untroubled times, and including the lines "There was magic abroad in the air. There were angels dining at the Ritz. And a nightingale sang in Berkeley square".

Good Omens is produced by BBC Studios, Amazon Studios, Blank Corporation and Narrativia. The series is directed by Douglas Mackinnon and features the all-star cast including Michael Sheen, David Arnold, Frances McDorman, Brian Cox, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Hamm.

Annapurna Interactive’s: "OUTER WILDS" Music by Andrew Prahlow

Annapurna Interactive’s ‘OUTER WILDS’ – Original Video Game Soundtrack, which features an original score by Andrew Prahlow (composer of the 2017 Mobile VR Game of the Year, ‘Eclipse: Edge of Light’). ‘Outer Wilds’ is an open world mystery game about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop. The soundtrack is now available digitally on Annapurna Interactive.

Andrew Prahlow has been a part of this project since the beta stages in 2013 and has created a perfectly 'ambient soundscape with guitar and synthesizers' to contrast the 'melancholic textures' of the game, which won the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the Independent Games Festival.

"When asked to compose the music for 'Outer Wilds', I wanted to create a sense of simplicity and nostalgia as the player slowly becomes familiar with the world of the Hearthians. I immediately thought of an old beat up banjo that I had received as a gift a few years prior. This main theme contrasted the melancholic textures of the Nomai - where I crafted ambient soundscapes with guitar and synthesizers, heavily influenced by post-rock. As the player explores the solar system and the story moves forward, these textures become more complex, along with the campfire tunes that are the center of the score.” – Andrew Prahlow

About ‘Outer Wilds’: “In ‘Outer Wilds’, the player-character is an astronaut that starts out camping on a planet near his rocket. Within 20 minutes of game time, the local sun will go supernova, ending the game, though the game will restart at the same point. Thus, the player is encouraged to explore the "quirky and condensed galaxy" to learn how the astronaut got there, why the sun will go nova, the secrets of the Nomai, the alien race that had built this galaxy, and other information and secrets that can be used on the subsequent replays of the game to explore further. For example, in order to use the rocket, the player must guide the astronaut to a local observatory, where the launch codes are located. Once the player has done this once in one playthrough, that information will not change in subsequent ones, so on the next playthrough, the player can bypass the observatory and immediately launch the rocket with the known codes. Though the galaxy repeats the same 20 minutes each time the player starts the game, the galaxy will change over the course over that period, making some parts of planets accessible only at certain times; one example is a pair of planets orbiting so close to each other that sand from one planet is funneled over to cover the other planet, making its surface inaccessible later in the 20 minute period.

The player-character has health and oxygen meters, which are replenished when the character returns to the rocket. If the character's health or oxygen should run out, they will die but respawn back on the home planet.”

About Andrew Prahlow: Andrew Prahlow’s music focuses on larger-than-life, emotive soundscapes with a core of chamber-ensemble minimalism, hoping to create a sense of familiar nostalgia for the listener.

He began his career in music as an intern at John Powell’s studio while completing his studies at the Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television (SMPTV) Graduate Program at USC. From 2011-2014, he assisted on the music of ‘The Legend of Korra’ for Jeremy Zuckerman and also on ‘Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness’ for Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn. In 2015, his music was featured in trailers for Ridley Scott’s ‘The Martian’.  From 2015-2016, Andrew composed ambient guitar soundscapes for the Madden NFL franchise. In 2017, Andrew wrote an arrangement of ‘Be Our Guest’ for the 2017 Academy Awards ‘Beauty and the Beast’ TV spot, and the score to the Mobile VR Game of the Year, ‘Eclipse: Edge of Light’.

Andrew also writes for mainstream trailer campaigns, including ‘Star Wars’, ‘Avengers,’ ‘Blade Runner 2049’, and ‘Star Trek’.
