Intrada "THE CAINE MUTINY" Composed by MAX STEINER

The Intrada release of Max Steiner's score from the 1954 Columbia film The Caine Mutiny has historic importance.  Although like many Intrada releases the score had not been previously available, an RCA LP of dialogue highlights was planned to be released at the time of the film.  While the record was pressed, it was withdrawn before it officially went on sale and most manufactured copies were destroyed. Featuring virtually no Steiner score anyway, that program would have held little interest to soundtrack fans interested in the complete Max Steiner score.  This release now presents the Steiner score in its premiere release, sourced from the mono music elements stored at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Steiner wrote three themes, both introduced in the “Main Title.” The first is a bustling idea that initially serves as a lead-in to the second theme—a noble melody that Steiner dubbed “Full Speed Ahead.” Both are on display in the main title: the first has the soul-stirring spirit of a Sousa march, while the second is more measured. The third theme Steiner developed from a pre-existing song, "I Can’t Believe That You’re In Love With Me."

In the film, Ensign Willie Keith (Robert Francis) starts his first assignment on a decrepit World War I battleship,  the U.S.S. Caine.  Willie is unimpressed by Captain De Vriess (Tom Tully), who runs a messy ship with an undisciplined crew. But when Lt. Com. Phillip Francis Queeg (Humphrey Bogart) replaces De Vriess, the real problems begin. On the surface, Captain Queeg is congenial and reasonable, but when under stress, he becomes paranoid, overly authoritarian, and...cowardly. At the height of a typhoon during which Queeg seems incapable of making decisions, Steve Maryk (Van Johson) relieves him of command and takes over the ship. The last act of the film is dedicated to the court-martial of Maryk, on trial for mutiny. Prosecuted by Lt. Com. John Challee (E. G. Marshall) and reluctantly defended by Lt. Barney Greenwald (José Ferrer), Maryk is let off when, under intense questioning by Greenwald, Queeg falls apart on the stand and displays the same loss of self-control that had led the officers to relieve him of command in the first place.

Lakeshore Records To Release CRAWL INTO THE NARROW CAVES, Available On Bandcamp May 16th, Through All Digital Providers and Amazon Manufacture on Demand on May 19th... Music by Binary Reptile (Jeff Herriott and S. Craig Zahler)

The Narrow Caves is the first Audiostate (TM) ever released, a new product combining the grandiosity of Hollywood films with the intimacy of audio to create an "ear-movie" experience. Adapted from a script by award-winning novelist, screenwriter, and director S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk, Wraiths of the Broken Land), The Narrow Caves features voice acting by Vincent D'Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Daredevil), Will Patton (Armageddon, Falling Skies), Lili Simmons (Bone Tomahawk, Banshee) and Wyatt Russell (Everybody Wants Some, Black Mirror). Binary Reptile provides an eerie score that contributes to the cinematic feel of this haunting piece.

In Florida, 1983, two college students meet at a yard party and do not hit it off. Walter and Ruby have no reason to reprise this antagonistic encounter, but something strange and almost primordial burgeons within each of them. Their thoughts and dreams turn toward each other, and in very little time they find themselves in an intense and unique relationship. What lies at the bottom of their strange connection is unearthed when Walter joins Ruby on a holiday trip to her home in upstate New York, where a living darkness inhabits the woodlands that surround her family's mansion. This engrossing and unpredictable blend of mystery, horror, and romance subverts the idea of "fated love" while exploring strange compulsions, intense desires, and ancient mysteries that are best left buried deep in the earth.

Go Into the Light... Look for INTRADA's release of POLTERGEIST II: THE OTHER SIDE (3CD) by Composer GREAT "JERRY GOLDSMITH"

POLTERGEIST II: THE OTHER SIDE (3CD): Just in time for Jerry Goldsmith’s posthumous receipt of coveted Hollywood Star! Intrada returns to its roots with totally remastered and expanded “specially-priced” 3-CD reissue of its own very first 1986 Goldsmith release! Oft-issued title courtesy several labels finally appears back home at Intrada, complete for the first time, including important sequences never before heard! Brian Gibson directs follow-up to wildly popular 1982 MGM fright-fest. Original cast returns with addition of Julian Beck (as evil Reverend Kane), Will Sampson (as Shaman Taylor) headlining Native American story-line. Goldsmith anchors all-new score with not one but two themes associated with Taylor: first is lean, sinewy idea over sparse open chords, second is powerful, major-key theme typically heard in French horns, trumpet. For portions of film dealing with evil Kane, Goldsmith introduces dynamic satanic choral writing plus chilling variants on early hymn. Exceptionally dramatic and exciting music! “Carol Anne’s Theme” makes judicious appearances then wraps entire score in gentle fashion. In its day, recording was considered state-of-the-art, utilizing then-new Sony PCM 3324 digital format. For initial 1986 release, Goldsmith and scoring mixer Bruce Botnick created pure digital two-track mixes designed for album and listening purposes.

Milan Records: "BAD GIRL" Music by Warren Ellis

Written and directed by Fin Edquist, Bad Girl tells the story of Amy, 17, who is given one last chance by her adoptive parents. They are happy of her new friendship with local girl Chloe. But when when Amy discovers Chloe’s secret she finds herself fighting for her life, and for the future of the family she herself tried to destroy.

Composer and musician Warren Ellis (Mustang) produced a fantastic straight-electronic score for Bad Girl. Raw, dirty and unpolished, this is an aggressive score that makes no compromise!

It will keep you on your toes and when the lights go down... try to focus! Nice Job!

HEAR HOW IT ALL BEGAN... VARÈSE SARABANDE RECORDS TO RELEASE "BLUE VELVET" SOUNDTRACK LP

Varèse Sarabande will release a vinyl version of the BLUE VELVET – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on May 19, 2017.  Available widely for the first time in nearly 30 years, the soundtrack features the beloved original score by Angelo Badalamenti (TWIN PEAKS, MULHOLLAND DRIVE).

BLUE VELVET marked the first musical collaboration between auteur director David Lynch and composer Badalamenti.  This amazing release allows listeners to experience Blue Velvet's evocative score that when juxtaposed with Lynch's use of early pop tunes, created a singular disquieting effect. Together with Lynch’s purposeful eye, this score formed helped form a thematic language that inspired a generation of films and nightmares.

In BLUE VELVET, Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle Maclachlan), a college student who returns home after his father has a stroke. When he discovers a severed ear in an abandoned field, Beaumont teams up with detective's daughter Sandy Williams (Laura Dern) to solve the mystery. They believe beautiful lounge singer Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini) may be connected with the case, and Beaumont finds himself becoming drawn into her dark, twisted world, where he encounters sexually depraved psychopath Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper).

Angelo Badalamenti is an acclaimed and prolific composer who has written some of the most unique film scores of our time. He is widely known for his long-standing collaboration with the director David Lynch, which has produced a creative and inspired body of work. Badalamenti began working in film with his scores FOR LAW AND DISORDER and GORDON'S WAR.  In 1986, he was hired by a young David Lynch to be Isabella Rossellini's vocal coach for BLUE VELVET, scoring the film, writing the feature song "Mysteries of Love" with Lynch, and even appears onscreen in the piano bar scene. His close relationship with Lynch served as a springboard and since BLUE VELVET Badalamenti has scored Lynch's films and projects, as well as those of many other preeminent directors.

Badalamenti has received a Grammy Award for his theme to the groundbreaking TV series TWIN PEAKS. The Soundtrack Album from TWIN PEAKS has achieved gold status in 25 countries. He received an Independent Spirit Award and a Saturn Award for TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME and BAFTA's Anthony Asquith Award for his score for THE COMFORT OF STRANGERS.  Badalamenti will be reuniting with David Lynch for the new SHOWTIME limited series TWIN PEAKS, which picks up 25 years after the events around the murder of Laura Palmer.

Varèse Sarabande Records will release the BLUE VELVET – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP on May 19, 2017.

As he says, “I think every time you do something, like a painting or whatever, you go with ideas, and sometimes the past can conjure those ideas and color them. Even if they’re new ideas, the past colors them.” We’re invited in and given private views from Lynch’s compound and painting studio in the hills high above Hollywood, as he tells personal stories that unfold like scenes from his films. Strange characters come into focus only to fade again into the past, all leaving an indelible mark.

Lakeshore Records: NEWTOWN w/ Original Music by Composers Including Fil Eisler, Mark Barden, Jeff Beal, George Clinton, Chris Drake, Deborah Lurie & Robert Duncan, Dino Meneghin, Blake Neely, Mark Renk, Mikael Sandgren, and Rob Simonsen

Filmed over the course of nearly three years, the filmmakers use unique access and never before heard testimonies to tell a story of the aftermath of the deadliest mass shooting of schoolchildren in American history on December 14, 2012. Newtown documents a traumatized community fractured by grief and driven toward a sense of purpose. Joining the ranks of a growing club to which no one wants to belong, a cast of characters interconnect to weave an intimate story of community resilience.

"The biggest inspiration behind this score was simply to be part of something that might further the conversation around gun violence without being preachy or political. I think this film really does that by examining the long term, even generational repercussions of gun violence and the permanence of grief cast against the hope that can come from facing down an unimaginable loss as these brave men and women have had to do. It is a quintessentially American dilemma. The movie was too precious to be seen just through the prism of my own experience which is why I asked some of my friends in the composer community if they would join me in contributing to the project. I didn't ask anyone what their political beliefs were. I simply explained what the project was about and asked if they wanted to be a part of it. Not one of them said no. No matter where you stand on the debate, we all want our kids to be safe." - Fil Eisler, Composer

Caldera Records "a ESMORGA" by Composer Zeltia Montes

Caldera Records is proud to present the original score for the motion picture “A Esmorga” from 2014, directed by Ignacio Vilar. Eduardo Blanco Amor’s novel of the same title is one of the most well known books in Galician language, but although it was already written in 1959, it took 55 years until a film based on the book was made in the Galician language with Galician actors. The book and therefore the film tell the story of three struggling men and accompanies them for 24 hours while they roam through the city, visit the pubs and brothels, before they find their tragic end. The film was a major hit with audiences and critics and became the most successful Galician film to date. Now, three years later, Caldera Records pays tribute to its achingly beautiful score by Zeltia Montes. [CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION]

A pleasantly sweet score, the work done by composer Zeltia Montes are charming and moving. Weird Folk is told in 4 chapters: A teen makes a terrifying discovery on the dark web, a clown stalks a neighborhood, a chiropractor goes through his worst nightmare, and a couple finds themselves in the cross-hairs of a killer.

The story is centered on teen Howie Oden who finds out there's a hit on his step-dad on the dark web. When Howie scours the neighborhood for him, he encounters scary clowns, bullies, strange visitors, and dead bodies.

Although Weird Folk takes place on election night 2016, it's not solely about the election and the hysteria associated with it. It's about the horror that humans can inflict on one another. It is about the ugly monster inside us all. We show all sides of the political spectrum and do not skew in any one direction. More importantly, this story is extremely entertaining and will give you some laughs and some chills. Election 2016 was an anomaly and the events that take place in this movie are as well.

Three Brothers [Blu-ray + DVD]

"A wonderful film that moves on waves of feeling. Francesco Rosi, who has one of the greatest compositional senses in the history of movies, keeps you in a state of emotional exaltation. A simple image has the kind of resonance that most directors never achieve." (Pauline Kael, New Yorker) Francesco Rosi established himself as one of the greatest chroniclers of Italy's stormy postwar history with such riveting classics as Salvatore Giuliano, The Mattei Affair and Illustrious Corpses. Three Brothers (Tre fratelli) explores similarly knotty social and political territory through the seemingly straightforward story of three siblings returning to their native southern Italy to pay homage to their late mother. However, their various professions - a judge in Rome (Philippe Noiret), a spiritual counsellor in Naples (Vittorio Mezzogiorno), a factory worker in Turin (Michele Placido) - have a profound effect on their response to this reunion. Arrow Academy is proud to present this powerful, Oscar-nominated film in a brand new 2K restoration.

Caltiki The Immortal Monster [Blu-ray + DVD]

Arrow Video presents a collaboration between two giants of Italian cult cinema - Riccardo Freda (The Vampires, The Horrible Dr Hichcock) and Mario Bava (5 Dolls for an August Moon, Blood and Black Lace)! A team of archaeologists led by Dr John Fielding (John Merivale, Circus of Horrors) descends on the ruins of an ancient Mayan city to investigate the mysterious disappearance of its inhabitants. However, the luckless explorers get more than they bargained for when their investigation of a sacrificial pool awakens the monster that dwells beneath its waters - the fearsome and malevolent god Caltiki. Though Riccardo Freda received sole directing credit, a significant portion of the film was in fact the work of Mario Bava, who also served as its cinematographer and was responsible its striking special effects. Drawing on a diverse array of influences, from The Quatermass Experiment to the works of HP Lovecraft, Caltiki the Immortal Monster is a unique and unforgettable sci-fi chiller which showcases these two legendary filmmakers at their most inventive. Presented here for the first time in a newly restored high definition transfer, Caltiki shines - and terrifies! - like never before.

Property Is No Longer A Theft [Blu-ray + DVD]

Having tackled the corrupting nature of power with Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion and taken an angry, impassioned look at labour relations with The Working Class Goes to Heaven, Italian master Elio Petri next turned his attentions to capitalism for the darkly comic Property is No Longer a Theft. A young bank clerk (Flavio Bucci, the blind pianist in Dario Argento's Suspiria), denied a loan by his employer, decides to exact his revenge the local butcher (Ugo Tognazzi, La Grande bouffe) who is not only a nasty, violent, greedy piece of work but also one of the bank's star customers. Quitting his job, the clerk devotes all of his time tormenting the butcher, stealing his possessions one-by-one, including his mistress (Daria Nicolodi, Deep Red). Told in an off-kilter fashion by Petri, abetted by the woozy sound design and another outstanding score by Ennio Morricone, Property is No Longer a Theft presents a caustic, blackly comic look at a corrupt society.

Kiju Yoshida: Love + Anarchism (includes Eros + Massacre, Heroic Purgatory and Coup d'etat) (7-Disc Limited Edition) [Blu-ray]

The work of Kiju Yoshida is one of Japanese cinema's obscure pleasures. A contemporary of Nagisa Oshima (Death by Hanging, In the Realm of the Senses) and Masahiro Shinoda (Pale Flower, Assassination), Yoshida started out as an assistant to Keisuke Kinoshita before making his directorial debut at age 27. In the decades that followed he produced more than 20 features and documentaries, yet each and every one has proven difficult to see in the English-speaking world.

This collection brings together three works from the late sixties and early seventies, a loose trilogy united by their radical politics and an even more radical shooting style. Eros + Massacre, presented here in both its 169-minute theatrical version and the full-length 220-minute director s cut, tells the parallel stories of early 20th-century anarchist (and free love advocate) Sakae Osugi and a pair of student activists. Their stories interact and intertwine, resulting in a complex, rewarding work that is arguably Yoshida's masterpiece.

Heroic Purgatory pushes the dazzling cinematic language of Eros + Massacre even further, presenting a bleak but dreamlike investigation into the political discourses taking place in early seventies Japan.

Coup d'etat returns to the past for a biopic of Ikki Kita, the right-wing extremist who sought to overthrow the government in 1936. Yoshida considered the film to be the culmination of his work, promptly retiring from feature filmmaking following its completion.

The Assassin (L'Assassino) [Blu-ray + DVD]

THE LADYKILLER OF ROME Released within months of Fellini's La Dolce Vita and Antonioni's La Notte, Elio Petri's dazzling first feature The Assassin (L'Assassino) also stars Marcello Mastroianni, this time as dandyish thirtysomething antiques dealer Alfredo Martelli, arrested on suspicion of murdering his older, far wealthier lover Adalgisa (Micheline Presle). But as the increasingly Kafkaesque police investigation proceeds, it becomes less and less important whether Martelli actually committed the crime as his entire lifestyle is effectively put on trial. Best known for Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion and The Tenth Victim, Petri was one of the finest and yet most underrated Italian directors of the 1960s and 70s. Highly acclaimed on its original release but unjustly neglected since, The Assassin is a remarkably assured debut from one of the cinema's sharpest chroniclers of Italian social and political realities. Petri said that he wanted to reflect the changes wrought by the early sixties, and to examine "a new generation of upstarts who lacked any kind of moral scruple". Arrow Academy is proud to present The Assassin in a gorgeous high-definition restoration created by the Cineteca di Bologna.

The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave (Special Edition) [Blu-ray]

At the height of the Italian giallo boom of the early 1970s, scores of filmmakers turned their hand to crafting their own unique takes on these lurid murder-mystery thrillers.

In The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave, director Emilio P. Miraglia (The Red Queen Kills Seven Times) melds the giallo s trademark twisty whodunit storytelling with gothic chills, concocting a gripping horror/thriller hybrid. Troubled aristocrat Alan Cunningham (Anthony Steffen, Django the B*stard), haunted by the death of his first wife Evelyn, tries to move on by marrying the seductive Gladys (Marina Malfatti, All the Colours of the Dark). Marital bliss is short-lived, however, as various relatives meet untimely and gruesome deaths, prompting speculation that a vengeful Evelyn has risen from the grave...

Populated by an array of Euro cult stars, including Giacomo Rossi Stuart (Caltiki the Immortal Monster) and the unforgettable Erika Blank (Kill, Baby... Kill!), and featuring a lush lounge score by giallo maestro Bruno Nicolai, The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave offers up a beguiling, unique and downright insane twist on a familiar formula.

THE RED QUEEN KILLS SEVEN TIMES [Blu-ray + DVD]

At the height of the Italian giallo boom in the early 1970s, scores of filmmakers turned their hand to crafting their own unique takes on these lurid murder-mystery thrillers. In The Red Queen Kills Seven Times, an age-old family curse hits sisters Kitty (Barbara Bouchet, Milano Calibro 9) and Franziska (Marina Malfatti, All the Colours of the Dark) following the death of their grandfather Tobias (Rudolf Schündler, The Exorcist, Suspiria). Every hundred years, so the legend goes, the bloodthirsty Red Queen returns and claims seven fresh victims. Was Tobias just the first... and are Kitty and Franziska next? Director Emilio P. Miraglia (The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave) once again combines a conventional giallo whodunit narrative with supernatural chills, concocting a gripping horror/thriller hybrid which moves effortlessly between the world of high fashion and creepy gothic locales. Co-starring B-movie legend Sybil Danning (Grindhouse, Howling II), The Red Queen Kills Seven Times shows that there's more to gialli than black-gloved killers!

Ludwig Limited Edition [Blu-ray + DVD]

Ludwig. He loved women. He loved men. He lived as controversially as he ruled. But he did not care what the world thought. He was the world. A string of masterpieces behind him - including Ossessione, Senso, The Leopard and Death in Venice - the great Italian director Luchino Visconti turned his attentions to the life and death of King Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1972, resulting in an epic of 19th century decadence. Dominated by Helmut Berger (The Damned, The Bloodstained Butterfly) in the title role, Ludwig nevertheless manages to find room for an impressive cast list: Romy Schneider (reprising her Elisabeth of Austria characterisation from the Sissi trilogy), Silvana Mangano (Bitter Rice), Gert Fröbe (Goldfinger), John Moulder-Brown (Deep End) and Trevor Howard (Brief Encounter) as Richard Wagner. As opulent as any of Visconti's epics - Piero Tosi's costume design was nominated for an Academy Award - Ludwig is presented here in its complete form in accordance with the director's wishes and features the English-language soundtrack for the first ever on home video.

Jacques Rivette Collection Limited Edition [Blu-ray + DVD]

In 1975, Jacques Rivette reunited with Out 1 producer Stéphane Tchal Gadjieff with the idea of a four-film cycle. He would create a quartet of interconnected films, each in a different genre. One was to be a love story, another a Western, and there was to be a fantastical thriller and a musical comedy starring Anna Karina and Jean Marais too. Ill health intervened, and only two of the films were completed. Duelle (une quarantine) sees Rivette in fantasy territory, cross-pollinating Val Lewton, Jean Cocteau and film noir as the Queen of the Sun (Bulle Ogier) and the Queen of the Night (Juliet Berto) search for a magical diamond in present day. Its parallel film, Noroît (une vengeance), is a pirate tale - and a loose adaptation of The Revenger's Tragedy - starring Geraldine Chaplin (Nashville, Cría cuervos). A third film began production - Marie et Julien starring Albert Finney and Leslie Caron - but Rivette succumbed to nervous exhaustion and shooting was abandoned. When he did return to filmmaking, Rivette borrowed some of the elements of Duelle and Noroît and came up with Merry-Go-Round. Joe Dallesandro (Trash, Flesh for Frankenstein) and Maria Schneider (Last Tango in Paris, The Passenger) are summoned to Paris, which leads to one of the most surreal and mysterious tales in a career that was dominated by surrealism and mystery.

Intrada: PALM SPRINGS WEEKEND [1963]

The 1963 Warner Bros. soundtrack album from Palm Springs Weekend was roughly one third songs (performed by popular young stars of the era) and two thirds original scoring by Frank Perkins—a meld of danceable numbers and orchestral background music. Perkins (1908–1988) was classically trained but, after graduating from Brown University in 1929, he formed a dance band and started writing popular songs. His biggest hit was the 1934 jazz standard “Stars Fell on Alabama,” recorded by Guy Lombardo and over 100 other artists. He joined Warner Bros. as a composer and conductor in 1939. Much of his film work involved un-credited stock music. He was also active in television, contributing to such shows as Hawaiian Eye and 77 Sunset Strip. In 1962 he was nominated for an Academy Award for orchestrating, supervising and conducting the musical Gypsy, starring Rosalind Russell.

This premiere CD release on Intrada presents the complete Warner Bros. album, newly mastered from the ¼” 15 ips stereo album master made at that legendary studio on September 19, 1963.

Troy Donahue headlines this romp as Jim Munroe, captain of the West’s #1 college basketball team, in town with his buddies for a fast-break frolic of fun, sun and romance. Jim meets true love Bunny (Stefanie Powers) at a record store. Gail (Connie Stevens) falls for the wrong guy (Robert Conrad) but emerges with her reputation unsullied thanks to Stretch (Ty Hardin). Team nerd Biff (Jerry Van Dyke) finds he doesn’t need the “romance machine” he’s invented when the real thing (Zeme North) comes along. And Coach Campbell (Jack Weston) puts on a full-court press to win Naomi (Carole Cook). It’s a spring fling for one and all!

Color me, intrigued... as I have said before "how cool to find this".

KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD - FEATURES THE MUSIC OF DANIEL PEMBERTON

WaterTower Music today announced the release of the soundtrack to filmmaker Guy Ritchie’s action adventure King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, in theatres May 12, 2017. The album features music from Golden Globe-nominated composer Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, Man From U.N.C.L.E.), and will be released in both a 26-track standard edition available on CD and digitally, as well as a 30-track digital deluxe edition. The digital versions will be released May 5, followed by the CD release on May 19.

The unique, inventive and broad creative range Pemberton brings to his projects is omnipresent on the King Arthur: Legend of the Sword album. “This isn’t your usual Hollywood epic adventure, it’s a Guy Ritchie Hollywood epic adventure,” explained Pemberton. “That means usual rules don’t apply. In fact no rules apply. All that matters is can you make a score that sounds like nothing else? That was the mission.

“I started to curate a mongrel orchestra made up of the weirdest instruments and sounds I could find and make,” continued Pemberton. “I would be up at 2am with my face red and stinging, having spent the last hour slapping it as hard as I could to get unusual percussive sounds. I told my neighbors to not worry if they heard any screaming from my flat; I was just trying an idea out. There is so much rich imagery in the film – the dirt, the grime, the metal, the leather, the wood, the stones – I wanted to bring as much of this into the score as I could. We wanted the music to feel physically visceral. Bit by bit we built it into a soundtrack that could take you on a journey the size and scale of the movie itself.”

Lakeshore Records will release THE HANDMAID’S TALE - original score by composer Adam Taylor

Lakeshore Records will release THE HANDMAID’S TALE - Original HULU Series Soundtrack digitally on May 5, 2017. The album features the series’ original score by composer Adam Taylor (August: Osage County, Meadowland).

“In creating the score for THE HANDMAID’S TALE, I recalled a conversation with series creator Bruce Miller where he describes a world which is dark, but hopeful,” said Taylor.  “That description shaped how I approached the creation of a theme that would emotionally connect the audience to the various systems at play in the series.”

Adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state.  As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world. In this terrifying society where one wrong word could end her life  Offred navigates between Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas and her fellow Handmaids – where anyone could be a spy for Gilead – with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her.

The Handmaid’s Tale stars Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Joseph Fiennes (American Horror Story: Asylum, Shakespeare in Love), Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black), Max Minghella (The Mindy Project), Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck, Dexter), O.T. Fagbenle (The Five), Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls), Madeline Brewer (Orange is the New Black) and Ann Dowd (Compliance, The Leftovers).

The Handmaid’s Tale was created, written and executive produced by Bruce Miller (The 100) and executive produced by Warren Littlefield (Fargo), Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears and Ilene Chaiken. The Handmaid’s Tale is produced by MGM Television and internationally distributed by MGM.

“The systems are the antagonist of the series, a relentless and indifferent force that is slowly disfiguring society and the inhabitants of Gilead,” Taylor explained. “I thought about it like waves of sound, waves that slowly grew in volume and dissonance until it overcame the senses. This led to what we landed on as the opening theme, and also how we approached the dynamics and shaping of the orchestral elements of the score.”

Lakeshore Records to Release the I DON’T FEEL AT HOME IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE Soundtrack Available Digitally On May 12th Featuring Songs By Artists Including Echo & The Bunnymen, Jason Newman, The Graverobbers, My New Mixtape, And Others With Original Music by Brooke and Will Blair...

But when her house is burglarized, Ruth discovers a renewed sense of purpose in tracking down the thieves. Accompanied by her obnoxious martial-arts-enthusiast neighbor Tony (Elijah Wood), they soon find themselves dangerously out of their depth against a pack of degenerate criminals.
