Back Lot Music: "THE FIRST PURGE" Music by Kevin Lax

Behind every tradition lies a revolution.  Next Independence Day, witness the rise of our country’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness.  Welcome to the movement that began as a simple experiment: The First Purge.

To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community.  But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.

Coming off the most successful film in the series, The Purge: Election Year, creator James DeMonaco (writer/director of The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year) returns alongside the producers of this worldwide phenomenon: Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Insidious series, Get Out, Split), Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ouija series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and DeMonaco’s longtime production partner, Sébastien K. Lemercier (Assault on Precinct 13, Four Lovers).

The First Purge is directed by Gerard McMurray (Burning Sands), working from a screenplay once again written by DeMonaco.

Tor Books: "The Calculating Stars: A Lady Astronaut Novel - Lady Astronaut" (Volume 1) by Mary Robinette Kowal

On a cold spring night in 1952, a huge meteorite fell to earth and obliterated much of the east coast of the United States, including Washington D.C. The ensuing climate cataclysm will soon render the earth inhospitable for humanity, as the last such meteorite did for the dinosaurs. This looming threat calls for a radically accelerated effort to colonize space, and requires a much larger share of humanity to take part in the process.  Elma York’s experience as a WASP pilot and mathematician earns her a place in the International Aerospace Coalition’s attempts to put man on the moon, as a calculator. But with so many skilled and experienced women pilots and scientists involved with the program, it doesn’t take long before Elma begins to wonder why they can’t go into space, too.  Elma’s drive to become the first Lady Astronaut is so strong that even the most dearly held conventions of society may not stand a chance against her.

Mary Robinette Kowal is the author of the historical fantasy novels Ghost Talkers and the five books in The Glamourist Histories series. She is also a multiple Hugo Award winner. Her short fiction has appeared in Uncanny, Tor.com, and Asimov’s. Mary, a professional puppeteer, lives in Chicago with her husband Robert and over a dozen manual typewriters.

Varèse Sarabande: "SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO" Music by Hildur Guðnadóttir

Music.Film Recordings and Varèse Sarabande will release the SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO  – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and on CD June 29, 2018 and on LP on August 31. The album features original score composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir (MARY MAGDALENE, Chernobyl).

The late Jóhann Jóhannsson received an Oscar nomination for the music he wrote for Sicario (also available via Varèse Sarabande). Guðnadóttir had collaborated with Jóhannsson on SICARIO and many projects over the years. “Jóhann and I worked together very closely on almost every single project we both did for about 15 years,” she said. “He passed away so recently, so I have not really digested that he is no longer here. But I don´t feel like I have picked up a baton, I am simply carrying on with the work that we were already doing. That feels both natural and very surreal, for lack of better words or digestion.”

With SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO, the series begins a new chapter. In the drug war, there are no rules – and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin’s daughter to inflame the conflict – but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for.  Directed by Stefano Sollima.  Written by Taylor Sheridan.  Based on Characters Created by Taylor Sheridan.  Produced by Basil Iwanyk, Edward L. McDonnell, Molly Smith, Thad Luckinbill, and Trent Luckinbill.

In THE OMEN, American diplomat Robert (Gregory Peck) adopts Damien (Harvey Stephens) when his wife, Katherine (Lee Remick), delivers a stillborn child. After Damien's first nanny hangs herself, Father Brennan (Patrick Troughton) warns Robert that Damien will kill Katherine's unborn child. Shortly thereafter, Brennan dies and Katherine miscarries when Damien pushes her off a balcony. As more people around Damien die, Robert investigates Damien's background and realizes his adopted son may be the Antichrist.

The film is directed by Debra Granik from a script adapted by Granik and Anne Rosellini and based on the novel My Abandonment by Peter Rock.

ABOUT COMPOSER DICKON HINCHLIFFE... Dickon’s unique style of composition and arrangements developed from his classical study of the violin and song writing and recording in bands. MovieScore Media: "ORBITER 9" Music by Federico Jusid

MovieScore Media once again ventures into a dystopian landscape with Orbiter 9, the Spanish-Colombian sci-fi co-production written and directed by Hatem Khraiche. The film tells the story of Helena, a girl who has lived all her life on a spaceships, isolated from all human contacts after their parents committed suicide due to depleting oxygen levels. Her first ever contact with mankind is Alex, an engineer who has been sent to her spaceship for repairing - but Helena wants to experience more of what it is to be with someone else, only to discover her whole life was not what she believed it to be...

“Orbiter 9’s plot is very rich cocktail: a love story that takes places in a dystopian future with an element of the thriller as well” explains Federico Jusid about the film. "In the same way, the score has a hybrid constitution. There’s a string orchestra singing around a more electronic sound palette (and musical architecture), and a few added signature sounds wonderfully created by our sound designer! Also the score attempts to oscillate between cold colours and a more heartfelt tone depending on who’s character voice is embodying, between the intimacy of the romantic encounter and the more massive and harsh character of the armed group chasing our protagonists”

Argentinian composer Federico Jusid made his grand debut in the international film scoring scene with the music for Juan José Campanella’s The Secret in Their Eyes, the Academy Award-winner for Best Foreign Film whose music also received the nomination for Best Original Score at the Spanish Academy Goya Award. His more recent credits on international projects include contributions to Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings, and the music for Luis Prieto’s Kidnap, starring Halle Berry. On television, his most recognised work is the soundtrack for the Spanish historical drama Isabel, with which he won the International Film Music Critics Association Award and a Reel Music Award.

The soundtrack has a digital release date of  June 22, 2018, later to be released on CD by Quartet Records. On the link below, you can view a video, featuring a suite from the score:

Silva Screen Records: "MUSIC FROM THE TRANSFORMERS MOVIES" Performed by London Music Works

A follow up to Silva Screen’s Music From The Transformers Trilogy album from 2011.  Firmly established as the soundtrack composer for the Transformers movie franchise, Steve Jablonsky delivers joyful fast-paced music, a mixture of orchestral and electronic sound, heavily laced with percussion.

Starting in the 1980's with Hasbro’s Transformers line of toys and cartoons spanning a short few seasons on television before the animated 1986 film, the Transformers universe was given a new lease of life in 2007 with Michael Bay’s blockbuster movie. Bay has made the best choice for the franchise in bringing on board Steve Jablonsky, Hans Zimmer’s acolyte, to write the scores. Jablonsky cleverly abandoned the electronic music signature of the original 80’s TV Series in favour of a complex and well rounded, thematically connected score. Jablonsky brings the franchise up to date by featuring a daring mix of electronic sounds and traditional orchestral textures, and his score strikes a nice balance between the film's blustering sci-fi and its more earthly concerns.

Featuring selected tracks from Transformers, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Transformers: Age of Extinction and Transformers: The Last Knight.

Silva Screen Records: "HUMANS SERIES 2 & 3" Music by Sarah Warne

Humans is a multilayered tragedy set against a familiar near future backdrop. The series explores mankind’s ambivalent relationship with fast developing technology and examines race, sex and gender roles.

Series 3 starts with a leap, it is exactly one year from Day Zero, the mass Synth awakening that concluded Series 2. Mattie Hawkins’ decision to upload the code was immediate and catastrophic resulting in a loss of one hundred thousand humans lives. Clever and high energy, the Humans story line once again revolves around the Hawkins family narrative, weaving in big questions, moral, scientific and political.

Sarah Warne is one of the UK’s most exciting emerging young composers, contributing original music to TV scores, film scores and art music, more than 100 projects in total. Films, that she has written music for, have been screened at international festivals including Cannes, Toronto, New York and Berlin. Her art music has also been performed live in various top Venues, in the UK at The Barbican Centre and The Roundhouse.

Intrada: "ROCKET GIBRALTAR" Music Composed and Conducted by ANDREW POWELL

For the 1988 Columbia Pictures' film Rocket Gibraltar, English composer, arranger, and performer Andrew Powell composed the heartfelt score. Powell chose parts specific to the story’s dramatic weave: Levi, the grandchildren, Cy Blue, and the titular skiff, Rocket Gibraltar. The music takes the listener through a sonic journey—with elements of classicism, pop, a little blues, and a bit of sturdy orchestral dissonance. These diverse musical styles help to characterize Levi’s various family members and give the film a unique mélange of sonic flavorings. Powell ’s score avoids sentimentality by conveying the earnestness that allows what is in fact a pretty ghastly denouement to succeed as a loving gift in honor of the family patriarch.

Produced by Andrew Powell, Intrada is proud to release this score on its 30th anniversary. The project was spearheaded by Peter Hackman, who's passion for this score started when he first saw the film as a child, driving him for 30 years to make sure this score was released on its own for all to hear.

In the film, Levi Rockwell (Burt Lancaster) is a retired, widowed Hollywood screenwriter whose successful, grown children and their kids arrive to celebrate his 77th birthday in the family home on New York’s Long Island. While the whole family is quite amiable, his daughters and son come with various personal and social conflicts which distract them, leaving Levi to spend most of his time, when not napping, engaging with his eight grandchildren. The film’s sunny storyline shines as it unspools with delightful engagements between affable family folk in which the middle generation, the one that behaves most thoughtlessly, leaves it to the members of the youngest generation to see straight through to the heart of the matter and understand Grandpa Levi’s deepest wish.

This release is limited to 500 units.

MVD Entertainment Group: "The Complete Sartana" [Limited Edition 5-disc Blu-ray]

Clint Eastwood's Man with No Name spawned imitations, variations and shameless rip-offs keen to emulate his success at the box office. Within months of A Fistful of Dollars' release, Giuliano Gemma was playing Ringo, who was then followed by Franco Nero's Django, Tony Anthony's The Stranger and Gianni Garko's Sartana - each providing their own twist on the Eastwood antihero, and each of them then subject to their own spate of unofficial sequels, spoofs and cash-ins. Sartana tapped into more than just his Spaghetti Western predecessors - a mysterious figure, he has a spectral quality, aided by his Count Dracula-alike cloak which also nods towards comic strip figure Mandrake the Magician, with whom he shares he shares a penchant for card tricks. He takes pride in his appearance unlike the Eastwood's dusty wanderer or Nero's mud-caked drifter. And there's a dose of James Bond too in his fondness for gadgetry and the droll sense of humor. Unsurprisingly, this unique figure in the genre was treated to four official follow-ups. The Complete Sartana collects all five films, presented here in brand-new restorations: If You Meet Sartana... Pray for Your Death, I Am Sartana, Your Angel of Death, Have a Good Funeral My Friend... Sartana Will Pay, Light the Fuse... Sartana Is Coming, and Sartana's Here... Trade Your Pistol for a Coffin, in which George Hilton replaced Garko in the lead role.

Actors: Gianni Garko, George Hilton, William Berger, Klaus Kinski

The SARTANA series:

-If You Meet Sartana... Pray For Your Death (1968)
-I Am Sartana, Your Angel Of Death (1969)
-Have A Good Funeral My Friend... Sartana Will Pay (1970)
-Light The Fuse... Sartana Is Coming (1970)
-Sartana's Here... Trade Your Pistol For A Coffin (1972)

Really find these films oddly entertaining!

MVD Entertainment Group: "The Addiction" (1995) [Blu-ray]

The mid-nineties were a fertile period for the vampire movie. Big-name stars such as Tom Cruise and Eddie Murphy flocked to genre, as did high-caliber filmmakers like Francis Ford Coppola, veterans Wes Craven and John Landis, independents Michael Almereyda and Jeffrey Arsenault, and up-and-comers Quentin Tarantino and Guillermo del Toro. Amid the fangs and crucifixes, Abel Ferrara reunited with his King of New York star Christopher Walken for The Addiction, a distinctly personal take on creatures of the night. Philosophy student Kathleen (Lili Taylor, The Conjuring) is dragged into an alleyway on her way home from class by Casanova (Annabella Sciorra, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) and bitten on the neck. She quickly falls ill but realises this isn't any ordinary disease when she develops an aversion to daylight and a thirst for human blood...

Having made a big-budget foray into science fiction two years earlier with Body Snatchers, Ferrara's approach to the vampire movie is in a lower key. Shot on the streets of New York, like so many of his major works - including The Driller Killer, Ms. 45 and Bad Lieutenant¬ ¬- and beautifully filmed in black and white, The Addiction sees the filmmaker on his own terms and at his very best: raw, shocking, intense, intelligent, masterful.

Actors: Lili Taylor, Christopher Walken, Annabella Sciorra, Edie Falco

A film, that is suppose to suck!

Welcome to the Club... Varèse Sarabande Records brings it's latest titles!

Varèse Sarabande Records is proud to announce next four album releases as part of their famed CD Club title program to be available beginning on June 18th: THE COWBOYS: The Deluxe Edition (John Williams), SMALL SOLDIERS: The Deluxe Edition (Jerry Goldsmith), GEORGES DELERUE: THE COMPLETE LONDON SESSIONS, and HEATHERS: Encore Edition composed by David Newman.

The latest CD Club titles will kick-off the 40th anniversary celebration which will spotlight the legacy of the world’s most renowned soundtrack record label.  The concept of the CD Club debuted in 1989 as a mail order exclusive releasing limited edition batches of beloved previously unreleased or long-out of print scores, carefully curated by Robert Townson.

The first batch of Varèse Sarabande CD Club titles for this anniversary year begins with John Williams most epic pre-Star Wars score!  We are so excited to present this revelatory Deluxe Edition of John Williams’ The Cowboys.  The 1972 score is classic Williams, loaded with melody and adventure, in it he gave us his greatest and grandest western and one that would even spawn one of the composers greatest concert overtures, the beloved The Cowboys Overture.

One of screen icon John Wayne's finest twilight films, The Cowboys was a box-office hit in 1972.  John Wayne stars as a rancher who will lose his livestock unless he can transform a ragtag bunch of schoolboys into cowboys. When all his ranch hands go off in search of gold, the veteran rancher is forced to hire eleven teenage boys as trail hands, and in the process of driving 1200 cattle across 400 rough miles, the young cowboys become cowmen.

We have received so many requests over the years for a Deluxe Edition of Jerry Goldsmith’s score for Joe Dante’s 1998 film Small Soldiers. An epic action/adventure score with a heroic march, Goldsmith had a lot of fun with this film and it shows. This is another epic expansion and remastering effort.  Our 40th Anniversary year and the 20th anniversary of the film seemed like the perfect time to revisit the film and its incredible score.

When teenager Alan (Gregory Smith) buys a set of Commando Elite action figures, he's unaware that they have been programmed with military technology. The toys, including leader Chip (Tommy Lee Jones), spring to life and start taking their directives seriously, beginning by "killing" their enemies, the toy Gorgonites. But Archer (Frank Langella) and the Gorgonites won't go down without a fight. Alan gets caught in the middle of the war, as does his neighbor and crush, Christy (Kirsten Dunst).

One of Varese Sarabande’s most cherished recordings. Georges Delerue: The Complete London Sessions is such a priceless collection of his music that we couldn’t stand having its last reissue be out of print any longer.  The suites, recorded in London in the spring of 1989, were first issued as three individual volumes, each with a Bob Peak painting on the cover.  In 2001 we compiled the original three volumes into a 2-CD set called Great Composers: Georges Delerue, featuring a Matthew Peak photo of Paris on the cover.  For this new, remastered edition, we have returned to Bob Peak’s painting from the original London Sessions, Volume One.

David Newman’s classic score for the cult classic original Heathers from 1989 is back! Veronica (Winona Ryder) is part of the most popular clique at her high school, but she disapproves of the other girls' cruel behavior. When Veronica and her new boyfriend, J.D. (Christian Slater), confront clique leader Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide. Soon Veronica realizes that J.D. is intentionally killing students he does not like. She races to stop J.D. while also clashing with the clique's new leader, Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty).

Varèse Sarabande will begin taking orders for the latest batch of club releases today, June 18, 2018. www.varesesarabande.com

Varese Sarabande is one of the best music labels and these are some of the great examples of music... remastered, expanded or just is it their love for music.... yes, yes it is!

DISNEY•PIXAR’S: "THE INCREDIBLES 2" Music by Michael Giacchino

Oscar®-winning composer Michael Giacchino returns to the world of the Incredibles with a new score for Disney•Pixar’s “The Incredibles 2.”  The original motion picture soundtrack, with music composed and produced by Giacchino, will be released by Walt Disney Records today.   The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 15, 2018.

Giacchino has credits that feature some of the most popular and acclaimed film projects in recent history, including The Incredibles, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Ratatouille, Star Trek, Jurassic World and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Giacchino’s 2009 score for the Pixar hit Up earned him an Oscar®, a Golden Globe®, the BAFTA, the Broadcast Film Critics' Choice Award and two GRAMMY® Awards.

“The Incredibles” has a very special place in Giacchino’s heart as it was the composer’s first film score.   Giacchino and writer/director Brad Bird have collaborated on 5 film scores since 2004.

According to Brad Bird, Giacchino is remarkably versatile. “Michael is a musical chameleon,” says Bird. “He has many styles at his disposal. In many ways, he is a fellow imaginer or an actor who’s playing a part in the movie.”

Having established the now-familiar musical flavor in “The Incredibles,” Giacchino chose not to revisit the first score in order to take a fresh approach.  Giacchino said “Brad and I knew we were going to use the main theme of course, but I still wanted it to have a different vibe while it stayed in the same vein and character.”  His inspirations for the score included Henry Mancini, John Barry and Hoyt Curtin.

In addition to writing themes for Elastigirl and new characters, the composer-turned-songwriter also created end-credit jingles featuring theme songs for Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone.

The soundtrack features cues from Giacchino’s score, plus the jingles. The digital version also features bonus tracks, including versions of the jingles by Disney Music Group’s new a cappella group, DCappella, as well as “The Glory Days” from the original soundtrack.

Michael Giacchino born (October 10, 1967) is an American composer of music for films, television and video games. MVD Entertainment Group: "Vigil" (1984) [Blu-Ray/Dvd]

A stranger appears in a remote New Zealand farmland at the exact time a farmer accidentally falls to his death.

The mysterious outsider grows close to some of the dead man's family, to the point where he and the widow become lovers. MVD Entertainment Group: "SMASH PALACE" [1981]

Premiering at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival, Smash Palace was Roger Donaldson's second feature following the success of Sleeping Dogs, a film which had heralded the arrival of the New Zealand New Wave.

Smash Palace concerns itself with the marriage of former racing driver Al (Bruno Lawrence, The Quiet Earth) and French-born Jacqui (Anna Jemison, Nomads). The pair had met when she nursed him back to health following a career-ending injury. They married, returned to Al s native New Zealand to take over his late father s wrecking yard business the Smash Palace of the title and had a child. But over time stagnation has set in, Jacqui s resentment of Al has grown, and things are threatening to spill over...

Playing out as a darker, more haunting New Zealand variation on such US separation movies as Kramer vs. Kramer or Shoot the Moon, Smash Palace offers a brilliant, vivid messy portrait of masculinity in crisis, driven by Lawrence s immense central performance once again confirming his status as one of New Zealand s finest actors.

MVD Entertainment Group: "LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT" [1972]

MARI, SEVENTEEN, IS DYING. EVEN FOR HER THE WORST IS YET TO COME!

The directorial debut of Wes Craven, the man behind such horror favorites as A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes and Scream, The Last House on the Left justly retains its reputation as one of the most harrowing cinematic experiences of all time, nearly half a century on from its original release.

On the eve of her 17th birthday, Mari and friend Phyllis set off from her family home to the big city to attend a concert by shock-rockers Bloodlust. Attempting to pick up some marijuana on the way, the pair run afoul of a group of vicious crooks, headed up by the sadistic and depraved Krug (David Hess). Gagged and bound, the young women are bundled into a car trunk and driven to the woods, where the gang subject them to a terrifying ordeal of sexual humiliation, torture and murder.

Unleashed on an unsuspecting public in 1972, The Last House on the Left shocked audiences with its graphic and unflinching portrayal of interpersonal violence, paving the way for a whole host of cheap imitators looking to capitalize on its success. It is Wes Craven's original alone, however, that remains one of the true watershed moments in horror (and indeed, film) history.

WaterTower Music: "Ocean's 8" Music by Daniel Pemberton

In five years, the critically-acclaimed composer was named “Discovery of The Year” at the World Soundtrack Awards; collaborated with iconic filmmakers and received Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations.  Pemberton’s original musical voice has included included hybrid choral, orchestral, electronic, opera, to rock.  His credits include Steve Jobs (2015), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), Stephen Gaghan’s GOLD (2016) Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World (2017), and Aaron Sorkin’s Molly Game (2017).   All the Money In The World marked the third time Pemberton had collaborated with director Ridley Scott. In terms of Molly’s Game, Aaron Sorkin would always mention Pemberton’s score on panels for Steve Jobs. Pemberton’s mix of opera and electronics for Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs (starring Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet) awarded him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score; the next year Pemberton would receive a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Song” for the Rock/Punk song “Gold” for the film Gold, he co-wrote with Dangermouse and Iggy Pop.

Five years, eight months, 12 days...and counting. That’s how long Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock)—just released from prison—has been concocting the greatest heist of her storied career.  She knows what it’s going to take—a team of the best in their field, starting with her former partner-in-crime Lou (Cate Blanchett). Together, they recruit a crew of specialists: jeweler Amita (Kaling); street con Constance (Awkwafina); expert fence Tammy (Paulson); hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna); and fashion designer Rose Weil (Bonham Carter).

The target is $150 million in diamonds—diamonds that will adorn the neck of world-famous actress Daphne Kluger (Hathaway), who will be center stage at the event of the year, the Met Gala.  Their plan appears rock solid, but it will need to be flawless if the team is to get in and get away—all in plain sight.

Intrada: "THE 10TH VICTIM / THAT MAN IN ISTANBUL" Music by Piero Piccioni/Georges Garvarentz

On this CD premiere, Intrada presents two LP programs from the classic Mainstream catalog. Spy films were prevalent during the mid-1960s, and 1965 was a peak year for the genre, ranging from the Oscar-winning spectacle of Thunderball to the gritty suspense of The Ipcress File and The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. In between these classics were the “Eurospy” movies and ’65 saw the release of two lively entries in the genre—the cult classic The 10th Victim and the action-packed That Man in Istanbul.

While not technically a spy movie, The 10th Victim's cat-and-mouse story line, European locations and glamorous stars often place it in spy movie retrospectives. In its future, war has been replaced by “The Big Hunt,” where volunteers join a legally sanctioned murder game. Its protagonist is a veteran hunter surprised to learn that his new target is a woman. Piero Piccioni's score is dominated by its main theme, which frequently blends cool organ sounds with the vocals of singer Mina. The film’s love theme is performed unromantically on an organ, emphasizing the shallowness of the characters and their romance.
