Lakeshore Records: "ASSASSINATION NATION" Music by Ian Hultquist

High school senior Lily and her three best friends live in a world of selfies, emojis, snaps and sexts. But when their town of Salem is besieged by a massive data hack, resulting in half the citizens’ private info spewed into the public view, the community descends into anarchy. Lily is targeted after being falsely blamed for the hack—and bands together with her friends to survive a long, blood-soaked night.

When it came to the score, director Sam Levinson faithfully asked Ian to deliver the unexpected, to match the film. “We had a big breakthrough when Ian started chopping and screwing up the tracks, focusing on the hi-hats and a percussive quality. Ian would send over tracks and I’d slow them down and play them backwards and send it back to him to show him how crazy I wanted it. Then we brought in Isabella Summers from Florence + the Machine to do some original music. That opened up the floodgates even more,” says Levinson.

Ian on creating the sound: “It was definitely an interesting challenge, and it became a pretty long process of exploring different ideas to find the right tones. I experimented with a wide spectrum of genres including ambient, Western, thriller, horror, trap, and delicate orchestra. It was pretty wild! In the end, I think there is an influence of all of those in the music, much like America is an influence of so many other cultures.”

About Ian Hultquist: Born in San Diego, raised in Chicago, Ian developed an intense passion for music and film from a young age. He pursued this interest by attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA from which he received a degree in Film Scoring and Composition. Now, after years of touring as a founding member of the indie band Passion Pit, Ian continues to write music for film, commercials, and other musical projects from his studio in Los Angeles, CA.

Ian has found a niche working with a new class of ground-breaking directors, in both film & documentary. In 2017, his credits included Clinical (dir. Alistair Legrand, Netflix), Mommy Dead & Dearest (dir. Erin Lee Carr, HBO) and Bronx Gothic (dir. Andrew Rossi, Grasshopper Films). Most recently, Ian has scored Assassination Nation (dir. Sam Levinson, NEON/AGBO) & the recently released A-X-L (dir. Oliver Daly, Lakeshore/Global Road).

Lakeshore Records "AN ACTOR PREPARES" Music by Tony Morales

Lakeshore Records is pleased to announce the release of AN ACTOR PREPARES – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Digital Download available October 5, 2018. The album features original music by multiple Emmy-nominated composer Tony Morales.

After a near death experience, Atticus Smith (Oscar-winner, Jeremy Irons), a world-famous actor renowned for his drinking as much as his acting, must drive cross country to his favorite daughter’s wedding with a son, Adam (Jack Huston, ‘Ben-Hur’), who once testified against him.

More than endure the journey, Adam and Atticus must survive each other. “My approach, and what I felt that the film called for, was a score that set the tone of the film rather than a score in a traditional sense. It works more like a song would over traditional underscore,” describes composer Tony Morales about scoring the emotional dynamic between the unrestrained father and estranged son in this unconventional indie comedy.

Tony Morales’s music has traversed the worlds of drama, animation, and documentary for television and film.  He is the currently the composer of the Disney animated series ELENA OF AVALOR.

“AN ACTOR PREPARES is a pop score at its core. The ensemble is that of a rock band: guitar, bass, drums. For added texture, I used a string quartet for cues that needed a little more emotion as well as electric and acoustic guitar textures to build padding to keep the tone warm,” explains Morales. Adding, “I played most of the guitars on the film myself.”

In 2012 Morales earned his first EMMY nomination with the mini-series HATFIELDS & McCOYS (co-composed with John Debney). His credits include the Netflix series BLOODLINE (co-composed with Edward Rogers), CBS’ hit show SCORPION (co-composed with Bryan Tyler), IN YOUR EYES (written by Joss Whedon), the short ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE (DreamWorks Animation), and sports documentaries including ONE AND NOT DONE (part of ESPN’s 30 ON 30 series), and FASTBALL (director Jonathan Hock, narrated by Kevin Costner).

Tony’s 2018 Emmy nomination was for his music on ELENA OF AVALOR. His current films also include WISH MAN based on the true story of Frank Shankwitz, a founder of The Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Gravitas Ventures presents AN ACTOR PREPARES in theaters now nationwide. Lakeshore Records is pleased to announce the release of AN ACTOR PREPARES – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Digital Download available October 5, 2018.

Lakeshore Records: "A SIMPLE FAVOR" Music by Theodore Shapiro

From the darker side of director Paul Feig, A SIMPLE FAVOR, centers around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a mommy vlogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily's (Blake Lively) sudden disappearance from their small town. This Hitchcockian thriller is filled with twists and betrayals as Stephanie joined by Emily's husband Sean (Henry Golding) uncovering secrets and revelations, love and loyalty, murder and revenge.

THEODORE SHAPIRO... From the upbeat, jazzy sounds of The Devil Wears Prada to the jungle-adventure send-up of Tropic Thunder and the sentiment of last year’s hit Marley & Me, composer Theodore Shapiro has consistently delivered memorable music for some of the funniest movies of the past five years. But in a corollary to the old acting bromide “dying is easy, comedy is hard,” Shapiro steps gingerly when adding music to the antics of a Jack Black, Ben Stiller or Owen Wilson: “If you’re ever making a gesture that gives the audience permission to laugh, you have to be very judicious with it,” he explains, “because the worst possible thing you can do is to push the comedy too hard.”

His careful touch has made him a sought-after collaborator for some of Hollywood’s leading comedy directors: David Frankel (Prada, Marley), Stiller (Tropic Thunder), John Hamburg (I Love You, Man, Along Came Polly), Mike Judge (Idiocracy) and, most recently, Harold Ramis (Year One). Shapiro, 37, is a rarity in modern film music: a classically trained composer (bachelor’s degree from Brown, master’s from Juilliard) who, despite commissions for classical works (including a well-received piano concerto in 1999), decided he’d rather be working in film. “A lot of the seminal cultural experiences of my life were in the movie theater,” he says during a writing break at his comfortable Glendale, CA studio. “As a 9-year-old boy, ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ had a major impact on my life. I’ve always been very connected to the medium.”

Shapiro followed the usual route for a fledgling film composer: low-budget, independent films, often made by friends, one of which, Karyn Kusama’s Girlfight, won major awards at the Sundance Film Festival and led to a two-film collaboration with celebrated playwright (and sometime film director) David Mamet, on State and Main and Heist. Director Todd Phillips liked Shapiro’s thriller score for Heist and hired him for his 2003 comedy Old School. Its success, in turn, led to Shapiro’s current status as Hollywood’s go-to composer for edgy comedic fare: Starsky and Hutch, Dodgeball, Fun with Dick and Jane and others.

Silva Screen Records: "THE INVASION" Music by Don Harper

Don Harper’s soundtrack to the 8-part Doctor Who story made and transmitted in 1968 starring Patrick Troughton as the second Doctor.

Featuring the Brigadier, UNIT, and the Cybermen, this “modern Earth invasion” Doctor Who story was made into a hugely influential series in 1968. Directed by Douglas Camfield, the music was composed by Don Harper, the third Australian émigré composer (after Ron Grainer and Dudley Simpson) to work on the programme.

Don Harper’s music for The Invasion may have been influenced by John Barry’s score for The Ipcress File (1965). Don used the cimbalom in the score, and the artist was most likely John Leach (who also worked under the name Janos Lehar), who played on The Ipcress File, King Rat and The Persuaders.

The instruments used included the organ, cimbalom, percussion, clarinet (doubling clarinets in A and Bb, bass clarinet and oboe), bass guitar, contra-bass clarinet and cor anglais. The percussion consisted of bim bams and temple blocks, timps including piccolo timp and hand timp, as well as cymbal and vibraphone. The organ was a Hammond M100 with Leslie speaker.

The score was augmented by the use of electronic sounds created by Brian Hodgson of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. There was also “Muzak” by John Baker (referred to as such in the cue sheets for episodes 1 and 2), which had its first outing in an Out of the Unknown episode.

For this 2018 Silva Screen album, Doctor Who composer Mark Ayres have placed the used music together, followed by additional unused cues and the electronic score.

Don Harper (1921 - 1999) was an Australian film and TV composer, jazz violinist and big band conductor. He is best known for his work on Doctor Who, World of Sport, Sexton Blake, Out of the Unknown and Dawn of the Dead, as well as his work with Don Harper’s Sextet and Dave Brubeck’s Quartet. After many years between England and Australia, Harper returned to Australia in order to take up the position of Head of Jazz Studies at the Wollongong University's School of Creative Arts, which he held until 1990. He died in 1999, aged 78.

Don Harper’s music has achieved cult status and in 2005 MF DOOM and Danger Mouse, in their collaborative project DangerDoom, sampled Don Harper's "Chamber Pop" and "Thoughtful Popper". Elements of "Dark Earth" from the Dawn of the Dead soundtrack were used on Gorilazz "Intro" from Demon Days, which was also produced by Danger Mouse. (http://www.silvascreenusa.com)

Silva Screen Records: "THE FIVE DOCTORS" Music by Peter Howell

The bracing, spine-chilling and atmospheric music soundtrack was composed by Peter Howell at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The special effects were created by Dick Mills. The Five Doctors album features both the original score and the BBC Video special edition version which was, in 1995, produced, reworked and extended by Peter Howell. The BBC video featured updated visual effects and to match that the score was mixed in Dolby Surround.

Peter Howell comments: “Listening again to the score for The Five Doctors, it seems to represent a very particular period in time when the variety of sounds at our disposal was becoming extensive, yet the ability to memorise them was yet to come; when the quality of taped sound was impressive but the equipment was large and the use of it sometimes clumsy and mechanical. In those days, you really did need a studio full of gear and you really did need to play it all.”

The Five Doctors (1983), was a 90 minute TV special made by the BBC to celebrate 20 years of Doctor Who. In this extraordinary story The Doctor and his previous incarnations are brought to the Death Zone on Gallifrey as part of a renegade Time Lord’s scheme. Here, Peter Davison joins previous Doctor Who incarnations - Richard Hurndall (standing in for the deceased William Hartnell), Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. Famously, Baker declined to appear so some footage from “lost” story ‘Shada’ was used instead. (http://www.silvascreenusa.com)

MVD Entertainment: "TELEVISION'S LOST CLASSICS" - VOLUME ONE - JOHN CASSAVETES

Ep. 1 - CRIME IN THE STREETS: actors: Robert Preston, John Cassavetes
Ep. 2 - NO RIGHT TO KILL: actors: John Cassavetes, Terry Moore, Robert H. Harris

The 1950s produced a treasure trove of live dramatic programs originating from New York.  Top talent from stage and screen were retained for both in front and back of the camera.  These two prime examples convey the feeling of watching a Broadway performance, but with the advantage of abundant and intimate close-ups and medium shots. They are surprisingly cinematic, especially considering the impediments those behind the camera had to face - clunky cameras, hot lights, quick set changes, live music and sound effects and always being mindful of keeping microphones out of the frame.  Clearly, the highlights of these programs are the intense performances by John Cassavetes, with his variation of method acting displayed in full form.

The first program is titled "Crime in the Streets" and is from The Elgin Hour (Elgin watches) and was broadcast live on ABC, Tuesday, March 8, 1955. It was written by Reginald Rose and directed by Sidney Lumet, starring Robert Preston and a very young John Cassavetes. The second program, "No Right to Kill," was part of the Climax! series and was presented by the Chrysler Corporation. It is based on Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment" and adapted for TV by Victor Wolfson. It was broadcast on CBS, Thursday, August 9, 1956. Nostalgia buffs will enjoy the original commercial messages that are included in the episode. Also included: a bonus blooper reel from the "Defenders" and "The Nurses" series. (120 minutes, B&W, 1955-1956, TV-PG)

Tor Books: "Legion: The Many Lives of Stephen Leeds" by Brandon Sanderson

Stephen Leeds is perfectly sane. It's his hallucinations who are mad.... A genius of unrivaled aptitude, Stephen can learn any new skill, vocation, or art in a matter of hours. However, to contain all of this, his mind creates hallucinatory people—Stephen calls them aspects—to hold and manifest the information. His brain is getting a little crowded and the aspects have a tendency of taking on lives of their own. When a company hires him to recover stolen property—a camera that can allegedly take pictures of the past—Stephen finds himself in an adventure crossing oceans and fighting terrorists. What he discovers may upend the foundation of three major world religions—and, perhaps, give him a vital clue into the true nature of his aspects.

Legion: The Many Lives of Stephen Leeds includes Legion, Legion: Skin Deep and the brand new, shocking finale to Leeds' story, Lies of the Beholder.

MovieScore Media: "THE RAFT" Music by Hans Appelqvist

MovieScore Media continues its championing of remarkable documentary scores with Hans Appelqvist’s music for The Raft. In 1973, five men and six women drifted across the Atlantic on a raft as part of a scientific experiment studying the sociology of violence, aggression and sexual attraction in human behavior. Through extraordinary archive material and a reunion of the surviving members of the expedition on a full scale replica of the raft, this film tells the hidden story behind what has been described as 'one of the strangest group experiments of all time.' The soundtrack release coincides with the film’s Danish premiere on 5 September.

“The music had to be energetic and draw the audience into the film” says the composer about the film. “I did that by finding inspiration from old Hollywood movies, especially how harmony worked in those days with constant modulation going from one place to the next just over a few clips. I tried to update that approach and apply it to my score in order to surprise and captivate the audience. Another nod back to older days was the more puristic approach to the recording the music. No overdubbing and no synthesizers were allowed. Only acoustic instruments playing together in a good-sounding room.”

Swedish composer / artist / director Hans Appelqvist has been working in the field of music and film since  the early 2000s when he studied at the Royal Danish Conservatory to become a tonmeister. His more recent film scoring credits include Niki Lindroth von Bahr's stop-motion animated musical short film The Burden and a silent score for Yasujiro Ozu’s I Was Born But…  for the Swedish Film Institute. Besides film music Hans has released five critically acclaimed albums, the first of which (Bremort) won the Best Pop Album of the Year Award by P3. His most recent album, Swimming Pool was released by American experimental label Orange Milk Records. [http://moviescoremedia.com/]

Intrada: "*BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED [2CD]" Music by James Horner

Intrada's latest release is an expanded soundtrack for the 1987 Universal and Amblin film *batteries not included. Composer James Horner wrote 90 minutes of music for the film, about half of which appeared on the MCA album issued at the time of the film's release. Horner composed a portion of the score for big band, reflecting the generation of the elderly folk living in the film's NY apartment building setting. The second facet of the score is the traditional symphonic fantasy style Horner had made his mark on during the '80s. At times the two styles intersect, as fantasy and reality interweave throughout the film.

This release features Shawn Murphy's original two-track stereo mixes. The new album includes several substantial cues being heard for the first time, not only because they were omitted from the initial album but because they were also omitted from the film. And of course the album features music in the film not on the original release. Since two CDs were required to present the entire 90-minute score, there was enough room to include the original MCA program as a bonus.

The story focuses on a fading property in New York City’s Lower East Side. Landlords Frank and Faye Riley (Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy) run a diner on the ground floor and rent out apartments above. But an unscrupulous real estate developer has torn down the rest of the block and only the Rileys and their tenants stand in the way of his major construction project. The ultimate destruction of the building seems inevitable. But help arrives in a most unexpected fashion—two small spaceships that seem able and willing to fix things. These seemingly sentient machines make a nest on the building’s roof and, using bits and pieces of metal, give birth to three “children.” Soon, a lively relationship springs up between the spacecraft family and their  hosts. Meanwhile, the impatient developer decides to surreptitiously torch the building. The resulting explosion leaves only an empty shell. But the Fix-its return and restore both the building and all the residents’ lost hopes.

Caldera Records: "SUNRISE [1927]" Music by Joe Kraemer

Caldera Records is proud to present the new score for the motion picture “Sunrise” from 1927, directed by F.W. Murnau, featuring music by Joe Kraemer, commissioned by the Dallas Chamber Symphony.

The score had its world premiere, live-to-picture, in Dallas in October 2016, where it was conducted by Richard McKay. It had a second performance in August 2017 in Baden, Austria, where Kraemer himself conducted it live-to-picture with members of the Synchron Symphony Orchestra. A few weeks after the live performance, the orchestra reconvened at the Synchron Stage in Vienna to record selections from the score for this CD release. The 26th CD-release of Caldera Records features a detailed booklet-text by Gergely Hubai, an exclusive audio commentary by the composer, and elegant artwork by Luis Miguel Rojas. The CD was produced by Stephan Eicke and John Elborg.

Upon first listening... it was a charging rousing score, filled with plenty of high points and great amount of my favorite horns. NICE JOB, VERY NICE JOB! I am going to listen more, for sure. Joe Kraemer like everything attacked this project and brought it too life and Caldera Records again amazes me, again and again!! I am not sure about this, but I am interested to know if they will incorporate this into the 1927 film "SUNRISE" or at the very least see some footage of this being recorded. Lakeshore Records: "PEPPERMINT" Music by Simon Franglen

Lakeshore Records is pleased to announce the release of PEPPERMINT – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on CD and Digital Download available now. The album features original music by Grammy-winning composer Simon Franglen.

“PEPPERMINT has a raw edge as a movie, the open wounds of the lead character, Riley North, are both physical and mental,” said Franglen. “The music needed to show two distinct sides, inside and outside Riley’s head. It had to reflect her emotions as well as propel the action and tension as any thriller score should.”

PEPPERMINT is an action thriller which tells the story of young mother Riley North (Jennifer Garner) who awakens from a coma after surviving a brutal attack on her family that killed her husband and daughter. When the system frustratingly shields the murderers from justice, Riley sets out to transform herself from citizen to urban guerilla. Channeling her frustration into personal motivation, she spends years in hiding honing her mind, body and spirit to become an unstoppable force – eluding the underworld, the LAPD and the FBI- as she methodically delivers her personal brand of justice.

Milan Records: "KING OF THIEVES" Music by Benjamin Wallfisch

Milan Records is releasing the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for KING OF THIEVES today on digital platforms, with CD and LP releases to follow.

The film (starring Sir Michael Caine, Sir Tom Courtenay, Sir Michael Gambon, Charlie Cox, Jim Broadbent, Paul Whitehouse and Ray Winstone) tells the story of the notorious Hatton Garden diamond heist and will release theatrically today in the U.K. It is directed by Oscar winning director James Marsh (THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING, MAN ON WIRE) and produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (DARKEST HOUR, BABY DRIVER), Michelle Wright, Ali Jafaar and Amelia Granger.

The original score by Golden Globe®, BAFTA®, GRAMMY® and Emmy® nominated composer Benjamin Wallfisch features full big band and in the composer’s words is “a love letter to the 60’s.”

“The complete score becomes a tapestry of musical surprises – which is the great virtue of all Ben's work,” said director James Marsh.

“In our initial discussions, Ben and I had found a common inspiration in the work of John Barry. We wanted that kind of mysterious, lush, retro feel to our score but reimagined for the 21st century through Ben’s unique sensibility. Thus, the Cimbalom and our other key instrument, the Wurlitzer. But there’s quite a bit more to the score than that. The musical voice of the police investigation is inflected with spacey electronica. The main heist is a raucous, exuberant re-working of Tchaikowsky’s Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy as played by a big band.

The music here can be enjoyed happily away from the film, but I don’t think the converse is true. As with all the best scores, the music in KING OF THIEVES is the air the film needs in order to breathe.”

MVD Entertainment Group: "Schlock" [Blu-ray] (1973)

From writer/director John Landis, the mind behind The Blues Brothers and An American Werewolf in London, comes a love story that transcends the boundaries of nature and good taste - the one and only Schlock! Carnage! Terror! Banana skins! The mighty prehistoric ape Schlocktropus has emerged from hiding to embark on a full-scale rampage across a quiet Southern Californian suburb. The police are baffled.

The army is powerless. The body count is rising. But when Schlocktropus encounters a kindly blind woman (Eliza Garrett, National Lampoon's Animal House) who sees beyond his grotesque visage, the homicidal simian is presented with a chance at redemption... Shot over twelve days on a micro-budget, Schlock launched the careers of both Landis and legendary effects makeup artist Rick Baker (Videodrome). An uproarious pastiche of monster movies, packed to the gills with irreverent humor and biting satire, Schlock serves as the outrageous missing link between the creature features of yesteryear and its creators' subsequent varied and celebrated careers.

MVD Entertainment Group: "THE BABY" [Blu-ray] (1973)

Still traumatized by the loss of her husband, well-meaning social worker Ann Gentry (Anjanette Comer, The Loved One) throws herself into her latest assignment: the case of "Baby", a 21-year-old man with the mind of an infant - who crawls, cries and has yet to make it out of nappies. But Baby's family - the tyrannical "Mama" Wadsworth (Ruth Roman, Strangers on a Train) and her two demented daughters - aren't the only ones with a warped conception of familial relations, and the full horror only begins when Ann sets her sights on liberating the drooling man-child... and in so doing unleashes the wrath of the Wadsworth women.

45 years after its original release, this film remains one of the most bizarre horror movies ever committed to celluloid. Directed by Ted Post (Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Magnum Force) and co-starring Marianna Hill (Blood Beach, Messiah of Evil), The Baby is a twisted, psychedelic nightmare of suburban depravity.

MVD Entertainment Group: "The Pyjama Girl Case" [1977]

Throughout the late 1960s and into the 70s, the Italian giallo movement transported viewers to the far corners of the globe, from swinging San Francisco to the Soviet-occupied Prague. Only one, however, brought the genre s unique brand of bloody mayhem as far as Australia: director Flavio Mogherini (Delitto passionale) s tragic and poetic The Pyjama Girl Case.

The body of a young woman is found on the beach, shot in the head, burned to hide her identity and dressed in distinctive yellow pyjamas. With the Sydney police stumped, former Inspector Timpson (Ray Milland, Dial M for Murder) comes out of retirement to crack the case. Treading where the real detectives can t, Timpson doggedly pieces together the sad story of Dutch immigrant Glenda Blythe (Dalila Di Lazzaro, Phenomena) and the unhappy chain of events which led to her grisly demise.

Inspired by the real-life case which baffled the Australian police and continues to spark controversy and unanswered questions to this day, The Pyjama Girl Case is a uniquely haunting latter-day giallo from the tail end of the genre s boom period, co-starring Michele Placido (director of Romanzo Criminale) and Howard Ross (The New York Ripper), and featuring a memorably melancholic score by veteran composer Riz Ortolani (Don t Torture a Duckling).

MVD Entertainment Group: "Horrors of Malformed Men" [1969]

Cult director Teruo Ishii (Shogun s Joy of Torture, Blind Woman s Curse) presents a nightmarish, hallucinogenic tale drawn from the fevered imagination of Japan s celebrated pioneer ofero-guro ( erotic grotesque ) literature, Edogawa Rampo.

Medical student Hirosuke Hitomi slips out of the asylum in which he has been wrongfully confined and stealthily assumes the identity of a recently deceased nobleman with whom he bears an uncanny resemblance. Hirosuke eases his way into the nobleman s household and his dead double s marital bed. But as long-repressed memories begin to bubble to the surface, he soon finds himself drawn to a remote isle where he is confronted by a mad scientist and his malformed men, and discovers the key that will unlock some long-suppressed mysteries of his own.

A dark labyrinth of the monstrous and perverse that fuses mystery and horror while incorporating motifs from a myriad of Rampo's tales, Horrors of Malformed Men boasts astonishing carnivalesque art design and haunting performances. Withdrawn from cinemas by its own studio after its original scandalous release nearly fifty years ago, the film is among the very best screen interpretations of the author s macabre brand of horror-fantasy fiction, and a unique oddity of Japanese cult cinema.

Kino Lorber: The Source: The Story of the Beats and the Beat Generation [1996]

In this documentary, director Chuck Workman examines the lasting cultural significance of the Beats, focusing mainly on Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs and Neal Cassady. Along the way, these freethinking men became friends and associates, and their writing influenced numerous generations of questioning individuals. Workman combines interviews, TV clips and archival footage in his film, in addition to dramatic readings by notable actors such as Johnny Depp. (https://www.kinolorber.com/)

The core group of Beat Generation authors – Herbert Huncke, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, Lucien Carr, and Jack Kerouac – met in 1944 in and around the Columbia University campus in New York City. Later, in the mid-1950s, the central figures (with the exception of Burroughs and Carr) ended up together in San Francisco where they met and became friends of figures associated with the San Francisco Renaissance.

In the 1960s, elements of the expanding Beat movement were incorporated into the hippie and larger counterculture movements. Neal Cassady, as the driver for Ken Kesey's bus Further, was the primary bridge between these two generations. Allen Ginsberg's work also became an integral element of early 1960s hippie culture.

Sad Day... Beth Bobo Krakower, a friend... Rest in Peace!

Beth Bobo Krakower, she was our voice for music... she was a friend, she will be missed and I am sure there is music being played in her honor. Rest in Peace, you are one of the strongest people... I have had the honor of interacting with and so glad we met!

She battled cancer with a smile, sharing her fighting journey the best way that she could... though we all could see she was in pain. She kept us laughing, she loved her life and we loved her for it... she is the music to us...  the world of music lost a great one.
