Magnet Releasing: SKIN TRADE [DVD/BLU-RAY]

Detective Nick Cassidy (Dolph Lundgren) heads to Bangkok to hunt down Viktor Dragovic (Ron Perlman) and destroy his human trafficking network; Nick killed Dragovic's son in a shootout during a sting operation on the New Jersey docks, and Dragovic responded by attempting to kill Nick and his family. Nick miraculously survived the brutal attack that destroyed his family; with nothing but vengeance to live for, Nick smashes his way through the Bangkok underworld in search of the elusive Dragovic. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Eddie Reed (Michael Jai White) is sent in to bring Nick home even as Thai detective Tony Vitayakui (Tony Jaa) questions the motives and methods that have brought Nick across the globe to Thailand. As the crossfire between all sides grows more and more deadly, Nick has to determine who his true allies are.

DOLPH LUNDGREN - Nick
Hans Dolph Lundgren was born and raised in an academic middle-class family in Stockholm, Sweden.  Despite an early interest in playing the drums and clowning around in high school comedies, Dolph decided to follow in his father’s and older brother’s cerebral footsteps and pursue an engineering degree.  After having completed his military service in the Swedish Marine Corps, Dolph enrolled in the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, studying the same subject as his older brother: Chemical Engineering.  He attended both Washington State University and Clemson University in South Carolina, studying Chemistry on various scholarships.  He graduated from The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, completing his Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering on an exchange program with the University of Sydney in Australia.  Graduating at the head of his class, Dolph was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, one of the world’s top engineering schools.

TONY JAA – Tony Vitayakul
Best known for the ONG BAK franchise, Tony Jaa is considered a national treasure of Thailand.  Until recently Tony has remained under contract in Thailand and was unable to pursue opportunities outside of Thailand.  This has led to him to passing on leads in movies such as RUSH HOUR 2.  However with the expiration of the contract Tony starred in three international films during 2014, THE FAST AND FURIOUS 7, SKIN TRADE and the Chinese language film SPL2 (SPL made more than 100 mil in China alone!)

RON PERLMAN – Viktor
An award winning actor, Ron Perlman has moved seamlessly between the worlds of film, television, and theater for four decades. Having received his Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota, he returned to his native New York City to begin his professional career. His first years kept him exclusively in the theater, delving into the works of Beckett, Pinter, Ibsen, Marlow Chekhov and Shakespeare.

MICHAEL JAI WHITE – Reed
Michael Jai White first garnered audience and critical attention with his portrayal of controversial boxing giant Mike Tyson in the HBO special, Tyson.  With more than two decades of experience as a martial artist, he holds a black belt in six Karate styles and over 26 titles, including U.S. Open, North American Open, and New England Grand Champion.  His well-honed skills have been employed to choreograph complex stunts in films such as On Deadly Ground.

PETER WELLER – Costello
Peter Weller, noted member of the world’s film community, was most recently seen as “Admiral Alexander Marcus” in J.J. Abrams’ superb STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS.  He and wife, Sheri have a two-year-old son, Theodore Mark Gerald Francesco Weller - 5 names-one kid.  In addition, Weller’s adult daughter, Kate Linden, is a noted film talent manager in Los Angeles.

KILL ME THREE TIMES [BLU-RAY/DVD] - SIMON PEGG!

Once is never enough in the hilarious crime thriller starring fan-favorite Simon Pegg (Shaun Of The Dead), KILL ME THREE TIMES, arriving on Blu-ray and DVD July 7 from Magnolia Entertainment under the Magnet Label. From director Kriv Stenders (Red Dog) the daring black comedy set and shot on location in Western Australia also stars Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom), Alice Braga (Elysium), Callan Mulvey (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), and Golden Globe® nominee Bryan Brown (Australia, The Thorn Birds).

When eccentric assassin Charlie Wolfe (Pegg) is hired by a wealthy man (Mulvey) to kill his beautiful wife (Braga), he discovers he’s not the only one aiming for her murder. Soon, he inadvertently finds himself at the center of three tales of murder, mayhem, blackmail and revenge, all incited from the wife’s illicit affair with a local surfer  (Helmsworth). Produced by Laurence Malkin and Share Stallings, the team behind Death At A Funeral and A Few Best Men), KILL ME THREE TIMES is an “exhilarating yarn” (The Film Stage) and “a breezy, crowd-pleasing ride” (The Movable Feast).

The double crosses pile up in this comedic thriller starring Simon Pegg as a jaded hit man on a seemingly routine job. The assassin finds himself in the center of three tales of murder, mayhem, blackmail and revenge intertwine when a gambling addict, a small town “Lady Macbeth,” a club owner, a policeman and a lover all converge on the same mark.

It's Simon Pegg and guest, can you go wrong with that?

Magnet Releasing: HONEYMOON [BLU-RAY/DVD]

Young newlyweds Paul (Harry Treadaway) and Bea (Rose Leslie) travel to remote lake country for their honeymoon, where the promise of private romance awaits them. Shortly after arriving, Paul finds Bea wandering and disoriented in the middle of the night. As she becomes more distant and her behavior increasingly peculiar, Paul begins to suspect something more sinister than sleepwalking took place in the woods.

Treadaway (CONTROL) and Leslie (HBO’s GAME OF THRONES) give captivating leading performances as a couple that takes new love to disturbing depths. With romance slowing giving way to terror, writer/director Leigh Janiak puts her unique stamp on this intimate, chilling thriller.

So I found it interesting, not too creepy... heard great things about the film for me it never got more than just good. It's one I think I would watch again, but in short... you don't really know someone until you marry them and then see the changes.

MAGNET TAKES US RIGHTS TO STAGE FRIGHT

New York (February 5, 2014) – The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnet Releasing, genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, announced today that they have acquired U.S. rights to STAGE FRIGHT, a genre-bending horror/comedy/musical that’s world premiering in the Midnighters section at this year’s SXSW Film Festival.  STAGE FRIGHT is the feature film debut of writer/director Jerome Sable, director of the award-winning, festival favorite short, “The Legend of Beaver Dam.” STAGE FRIGHT stars Allie MacDonald and Douglas Smith, with Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf, and was produced by Ari Lantos and Jonas Bell Pasht of Serendipity Point Films. Music and Lyrics were written by Jerome Sable and longtime collaborator Eli Batalion, who also appears in the film as the wildly obsessive camp music director.

“Scream” meets “Glee” in this dark comedy musical about a starry-eyed teenager Camilla Swanson who aspires to follow in the footsteps of her Broadway diva mother. Instead she's stuck working in the kitchen of a snobby performing arts camp. Determined to change her destiny, she sneaks in to audition for the summer showcase and lands a lead role in the play, but just as rehearsals begin, blood starts to spill, and Camilla soon finds herself terrified by the horror of musical theater.

“STAGE FRIGHT is smart, stylish and incredibly fun—an assured debut from Jerome Sable, with excellent musical numbers that really deliver.” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “Its inventive and entertaining blend of slasher horror and musical comedy will appeal to genre fans of all stripes.”

"As a fan of Magnet and the movies they release, I cannot tell you how excited I am that our film is on their roster," said Sable. "I am honored that they're helping me with my lifelong dream of bringing bloodthirsty gorehounds and musical theatre geeks a little bit closer together."

Magnet is releasing the film in its Ultra VOD program, launching it on iTunes and On Demand on April 3rd, followed by a theatrical release on May 9th.

The deal was negotiated by SVP of Acquisitions Dori Begley and VP of Acquisitions Peter Van Steemburg with Nate Bolotin of XYZ films on behalf of the filmmakers. XYZ is selling international rights at this year’s EFM.

Magnet Releasing: The Gangster [DVD/BLU-RAY]

The Gangster

The Gangster (Antapal) is based on the notorious Bangkokian gangs of the 1950s-60s. The story follows a newly released prisoner who desires to live Straight, but knowing nothing else but the life of a gangster, he returns to his old gang. - See more at: CLICK HERE!

I want to say it was sort of documentary as the film jumps forward and back telling the events as someone remembers. I feel it was good/bad guy vs bad/really bad guy film, where there was something worth fighting for and your people are yours. One scene I can tell you just freaked me out... all I can tell you in involved two young girls and the side of a bus, if I taken anything way from this film it will be that.

Magnet Releasing: Storage 24

London is in chaos. A military cargo plane has crashed leaving its highly classified contents strewn across the city. Completely unaware London is in lockdown, Charlie (Noel Clarke) and Shelley (Antonia Campbell-Hughes), accompanied by best friends Mark (Colin O’Donoghue) and Nikki (Laura Haddock), are at Storage 24 dividing up their possessions after a recent break-up. Suddenly, the power goes off. Trapped in a dark maze of endless corridors, a mystery predator is hunting them one by one. In a place designed to keep things in, how do you get out?
3/5 I never understand how movies get made, here you have a pretty decent idea for a film and some decided instead of making it good... we will make it fit "what the audience wants". You have a group that all seem to know each other in a way, that is the subplot and a few weirdos who lurk in the background. Some how they all end up in one place, one place where at some point you are rooting for the monster. Which I felt had the best role in the entire film, not saying it was bad... I enjoyed it, just guessing who was next and why were these jack-nuts wonder around this storage unit looking for something that would be better found outside. I did find the ending very good, but it took a time to get there.

Magnet Releasing: Nature Calls [2013]

Nature Calls [2013]

Determined to honor his father’s scouting legacy and mount one last comeback for his dwindling troop, Assistant Scoutmaster Randy Stevens (Patton Oswalt) pays a visit to his business-minded brother Kirk (Johnny Knoxville), who is throwing a television-themed slumber party for his newly adopted 10-year-old son at his McMansion. Randy pressures the boys to secretly ditch the party and join him on a weekend scout trip. Pursued by Kirk and his security guard (Rob Riggle), the adventure lands the boys in trouble at every turn, pits them against angry parents and park rangers, yet ultimately turns the group of sheltered kids into a troop to be reckoned with.

3/5 It wanted to be funny or funnier, there are some funny parts... I was watching for that certain something that would bring it all together. Creepy kids with over protective parents and parents that have a small clue on how to raise their kids. Maybe I was looking for that new "Meatballs" movie where in the end you feel like you went on a camping trip where people didn't get blown into pieces.
