Intrada: "JOHNNY TREMAIN" Music by GEORGE BRUNS

Intrada's latest release from the vast Walt Disney catalog stretches back to 1957, with George Bruns' music for Johnny Tremain. Bruns is best remembered for his scores to 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book, and his adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty. With the release of Johnny Tremain, Intrada brings focus to his scoring for live-action films. Unlike the current and often non-thematic nature of today's film music, Walt Disney loved prominent melody. To that end, Bruns ensured that the Tremain score was built around two main themes. One theme is for Tremain himself — a four-note motif constructed around the syllables of the character’s name, often played in emotional, legato strings. But hero of the story or not, the centerpiece of the score is the second theme — a rousing march entitled "Liberty Tree."

An album had been released contemporaneously with the film, featuring a re-recorded 20-minute suite of music from the film on one side. The performance closely adhered to its soundtrack counterpart, but with more of a studio acoustic. The other side included traditional patriotic songs. For this release, Intrada leveraged the complete mono scoring masters made at the Walt Disney Scoring Stage back in 1957 as well as the Bruns program side of the LP.

The film was originally filmed for television, scheduled to be shown in two parts on the Disneyland show in February 1957. But after investing a considerable amount of money in the film, Disney decided to edit the footage into a theatrical release prior to showing it on television. The story tells of Johnny Tremain (Hal Stalmaster), an apprentice silversmith, who, after a fire disfigures his hands and he loses his position, joins the rebellion against the British in the fight for independence.

Milan Records: "UNDER THE SILVER LAKE" Music by Rich Vreeland aka Disasterpeace

Under the Silver Lake is an upcoming neo-noir comedy drama directed by David Robert Mitchell, director of It Follows. A24 is releasing the film in Los Angeles and New York City on June 22nd, 2018 before expanding nationwide in July.

For scoring duties, David Robert Mitchell turned to previous collaborator Rich Vreeland aka Disasterpeace, who provided a memorable outsider’s perspective to the horror genre for It Follows. For their second collaboration, Under the Silver Lake pushes both director Mitchell and Disasterpeace into unexpected territory. Disasterpeace, best known for his synth-driven work, delivers a full orchestral score for the first time. The end result lends the film a distinct noir thriller vibe that emphasizes its dark, unraveling narrative.

In addition to Disasterpeace’s score, the soundtrack will feature several needle drops from the film such as “Never My Love” by The Association, classics from R.E.M., a new cover of “To Sir with Love” and the original song “Turning Teeth” by Jesus & the Brides of Dracula produced exclusively for the film. Milan Records is proud to be releasing the soundtrack to Under the Silver Lake alongside the film on June 22nd, 2018, with a double LP vinyl release to follow in the summer.

The film follows Sam (Andrew Garfield), a charming yet aimless man who falls in love with his neighbor. Following her mysterious disappearance, Sam becomes an unwitting detective combing through the dark streets of Los Angeles in search of any clues he can find about his neighbor. Sam soon finds himself in over his head as he uncovers a grim conspiracy involving the powerful forces woven into daily life.

MovieScore Media: "Lancaster Skies" by James Griffiths

MovieScore Media once again teams up with James Griffiths (The Drift, Dogged) to release the composer’s soaring score for the wartime drama Lancaster Skies. Co-written and directed by Callum Burn, tells the story of Flight Lieutenant Douglas Miller, a former solitary Spitfire ace and a veteran of the Battle of Britain. After the tragic death of his younger brother, Miller transfers to Bomber Command. In the days leading up to a perilous mission over Berlin, Miller must overcome his past and become the leader that his troubled crew so desperately need. The digital release by MovieScore Media is to be followed by a physical release by Quartet Records.

“Lancaster Skies is a movie that is very much about the crew, the people, the families” explains the composer. “I chose to compose a score that pays tribute to the service men and women, friends and families who ether have first hand experience, or have relations whom were part of this hugely important historical period, and astronomical loss of life in Bomber Command. Being an ex military musician myself, I called in a handful of friends and former colleagues.  Serving and Ex Serving members, and the finest professional musicians of The Bands of The Household Division.  These musicians were key to my traditional Orchestral and Military Wind Band approach.  Musicians who know how to play in this style and really evoke the story.”

James Griffiths’ first feature film score The Drift was a finalist at the Music and Sound Awards 2016, was nominated for The Siren Award for Best Original Composition in a Feature Film and won Best Surprise at the Soundtrack Geek Awards. Apart from continuing his exploration of the Starlight Universe in Darkwave: Edge of the Storm, Griffith’s recent credits include the Gustavo Sampaio’s action short GAIA, the British cult folk-horror Dogged as well as co-composing Trent Haaga’s 68 Kill with Frank Ilfman.

The soundtrack has a digital release date as of  Februrary 22, 2018 with a physical release planned for Quartet Records.  On the link below, you can view a video, featuring a suite from the score: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sS_jhCpe34Q

MovieScore Media: "Bloody Marie" by Matthijs Kieboom

MovieScore Media once again teams up with Dutch composer Matthijs Kieboom with whom the label previously released Wild, which received an International Film Music Critics Association Award nomination for Best Documentary Score. Kieboom’s latest movie, Bloody Marie tells the story of Marie Wankelmut (Susanne Wolff), a once successful comic artist who is now living among the prostitutes in Amsterdam's Red Light District. Drunken and bold, she gets into one conflict after another until a gruesome sobering event at her neighbors’ forces her to take action.

“I wanted to emphasise the loneliness Marie is dealing with and the battle with her addiction,“ explains the composer. “Both storylines are translated almost one on one into the music, for Marie’s loneliness I decided to often use a solo cello on top of a very “open” musical landscape. But every now and than, when Marie is losing grip on reality, either by dreaming or being very drunk, the cello gets replaced by a Theremin, to make the musical tone a little more surreal. Her battle with alcohol is portrayed by a lot off glass - from bowing wine glasses to using them as percussive instruments.” Kieboom’s score is one of the most intriguing musical descriptions of alcoholism since Miklós Rózsa’s Oscar-nominated The Lost Weekend, which also used the theremin.

Dutch composer Matthijs Kieboom was born in 1985 in the city of Dordrecht. He started his musical education on the cello and the bass guitar before moving onto composition. His first feature film score was co-written for Fuchsia the Mini-Witch (2010). In 2011, Matthijs won the first place and the title of Transatlantyk Young Composer for 2011 at a competition created by Academy Award winning composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek. He later won the Young Talent Award at the Krakow Film Music Festival and had his music played at the closing gala. In 2013, Matthijs collaborated with DJ Armin van Buuren on the BUMA-winning score for I Love Ibiza, the top selling Dutch movie of the year. His music for the documentary Wild is also available from MovieScore Media.

The soundtrack has a digital release date as of  February 22, 2018.  On the link below, you can view a video, featuring a suite from the score: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-a9RXD4ECvU

MovieScore Media: "Amundsen" by Johan Söderqvist

Coinciding with the film’s wide release in Norwegian cinemas on 15 February, MovieScore Media once again teams up with Johan Söderqvist to release his score for the historical epic Amundsen. A true hero of Norway, Roald Amundsen is best-remembered for his incredible achievement of reaching the South Pole in 1911. Directed by Espen Sandberg, Amundsen stars Pål Sverre Hagen as the arctic explorer who is caught in a race to reach both the North and the South Pole and also becomes an early pioneer of flying over the Arctic scene - with tragic results...

As composer Johan Söderqvist explains: “The director Espen Sandberg had a vision for the music - to create a whole new aural world for the South Pole, a place that was as unknown to the people at that time as Mars or Jupiter… We wanted it to feel like we're arriving to a whole new world, a new universe. We recorded many different crazy things but in the end we really liked the sound of Indian native flutes being blown (or more like screamed into) through a wonderful new Russian electronic voice/breath processor called "The Pipe”. Together with heavily distorted ambiences & drums, this became the signature sound of the film that we so much dreamt of.”

Johan Söderqvist is one of the busiest and most successful Scandinavian composers. He has collaborated on a regular basis with Danish director Susanne Bier for whom he scored Brothers (2004) the Oscar-nominated After the Wedding (2006), the Oscar-winning In a Better World (2010) and the romantic comedy Love Is All You Need (2012) – the latter two albums were released by MovieScore Media. His other credits include the Oscar-nominated Kon-Tiki (2014), the British/American horror The Limehouse Golem (2016) and the cult classic vampire film Let the Right One In (2008), another MSM release. His latest release with the label was The King’s Choice (2016), Norway’s official submission for that year’s Academy Awards.

The soundtrack has a digital release date as of  February 15, 2019 with a physical release to follow by Rosetta Records.  On the link below, you can view a video, featuring a suite from the score: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1VMteCAYoc

MovieScore Media: "Swoon" by Nathaniel Mechaly

Coinciding with the film’s wide release in Swedish cinemas on 14 February, MovieScore Media teams up with French composer Nathaniel Mechaly to release the music for the extravagantly produced romantic drama Swoon. Directed by Måns Mårlind, Björn Stein, the story is a new re-imagination of the Romeo and Juliet story with John (Albin Grenholm) and Ninni (Frida Gustavsson) growing up in resentment of each other due to their families’ competing amusement parks. When they meet again as adults in 1940, their attraction is undeniable, but soon enough they must face much harsher enemies than their past…

Following their success on Midnight Sun, French composer Nathaniel Mechaly (of Taken fame) returns for another collaboration with Måns Mårlind, Björn Stein. As he explains: “They wanted to make a romantic film and the historical situation of a Romeo and Juliet story in a context of Grona Lund with such beautiful costumes and performance gave me the unequivocal direction! While there’s a theme to illustrates Grona Lund Park, the real heart of the score is the love theme, which is always there throughout the film, but it can only come round in full at the end (“Love Kiss”). The album also includes the new song from Lily Oakes entitled “The Keep”.

French composer Nathaniel Méchaly studied music at the Conservatoire National de Région de Musique de Marseille. He started his film music career as an assistant to Oscar-winning composer Gabriel Yared. He is best-known as the composer for the Taken trilogy, starring Liam Neeson. Méchaly, with Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi, won Best Original Film Score at the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards and Best Composer at the 8th Asian Film Awards for The Grandmaster.

The soundtrack has a digital release date as of  February 15 2018, with a physical release to be followed by Music Box Records.  On the link below, you can view a video, featuring a suite from the score: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51u3xXsXSkY

Season 2 premieres on February 15 with nine new episodes.  Lakeshore Records will release The Dragon Prince Season 1 and Season 2- Original Series Soundtrack digitally on February 22.

In The Dragon Prince, a catastrophic war looms between two sides: the magical land of Xadia and the Human Kingdom. Three kids from opposite sides of the conflict -- two human princes and the elven assassin who was sent to kill them -- discover a secret that could change everything. They decide to join forces and go on an epic journey that may be their only hope of ending the war and restoring peace to both their worlds. The series is led by co-creators Aaron Ehasz (head writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Justin Richmond (game director of Uncharted 3).

Co-creators Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond had this to say about Frederik’s work. "Freddie has an incredible ability to weave emotion, theme, and storytelling into his work that elevates The Dragon Prince to a new level."

“The Dragon Prince provides a wonderful canvas for me to explore a very colorful musical pallet. We wanted to give this world its own identity, so we decided to blend various ethnic and unorthodox instruments with a conventional orchestral sound. The use of a variety of live instruments was key to this, so we spent a great deal of time recording soloists all across the series, and for some parts we recorded a 40 Piece string orchestra for important scenes that needed it. It’s been an absolute privilege to get to work on a series such as The Dragon Prince, a show so full of heart, imagination and excitement”. – Frederik Wiedmann

Sony Music: "THE PRODIGY" music by award-winning composer Joseph Bishara

Sony Music proudly announces the release of THE PRODIGY (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) featuring original music by award-winning composer Joseph Bishara. The soundtrack is available everywhere February 8, 2019 coinciding with the nationwide release in U.S. theaters.

Horror fixture JOSEPH BISHARA immerses himself in each project, developing distinct soundtracks through a mixture of classical, punk and industrial noise. In addition to his unique scores, Bishara has also appeared onscreen as creatures in many of the films he’s worked on. Of the soundtrack, Bishara says, “The score for The Prodigy was an opportunity to thematically explore the multi-life patterns of a soul’s journey, and bridging that connection into the real world where the struggle for survival takes place.”

In her much-anticipated foray into the horror-thriller genre, Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Taylor Schilling stars as a mother named Sarah whose young son Miles’ disturbing behavior signals that an evil, possibly supernatural force has overtaken him. Fearing for her family’s safety, Sarah must choose between her maternal instinct to love and protect Miles and a desperate need to investigate what – or who – is causing his dark turn. She is forced to look for answers in the past, taking the audience on a wild ride; one where the line between perception and reality becomes frighteningly blurry.

Directed by Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact, At Devil's Door) with a screenplay by Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train, Pet Sematary), the movie stars Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Jackson Robert Scott (It, Fear the Walking Dead), Peter Mooney (Burden of Truth, Rookie Blue) and Colm Feore (Thor, Pearl Harbor).

ABOUT JOSEPH BISHARA

Joseph Bishara is a composer and music producer of a darker flavor. His scores include The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, Annabelle, Insidious, Insidious Chapter 2, Insidious Chapter 3, The Other Side of the Door and many others.  Bishara has also appeared onscreen as creature performer in Insidious as the Lipstick-Face Demon, The Conjuring as Bathsheba, as well as demons in Annabelle and The Conjuring 2. Music production work includes the soundtrack for the cult musical film Repo! The Genetic Opera and its successor The Devil’s Carnival, as well programming and remix contributions for artists such as Tech N9ne, Marilyn Manson, Rasputina, Danzig, Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails.

Sony Music: "MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE FILM ROMA"

Sony Music announces the FEBRUARY 8th release of MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE FILM ROMA, an album of music inspired by Alfonso Cuarón’s award winning film. Yesterday, the film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture.  Available to preorder now, the album features songs from BECK, BILLIE EILISH, EL-P, IBEYI, JESSIE REYEZ, LAURA MARLING, PATTI SMITH, UNKLE and more, recorded exclusively for this project.

Included with today’s preorder and available now to stream is BECK’s first musical offering of 2019, entitled “Tarantula” - listen here.  Beck’s radical reimagining of “Tarantula," a 1982 B-Side by 4AD artists Colourbox, replaces the minimalist groove of the original with an epic arrangement by Beck in collaboration with his father, David Campbell.  Produced by Beck and mixed by Tom Elmhirst, the track features a riveting Beck vocal performance at its centerpiece with the backing of a 24-piece ensemble.

After completing work on ROMA, director Alfonso Cuarón was struck with the notion of having his favorite musical artists create songs inspired by the film.  Interested in hearing what the film might inspire in artists across the globe, Cuarón and his music supervisor Lynn Fainchtein began exploring possibilities with the help of their friend Randall Poster.  They approached artists of all genres and backgrounds, inviting them to contribute either an original piece of music or a cover of one of the songs heard in the film.

For some, ROMA inspired new originals, including Billie Eilish’s “WHEN I WAS OLDER,” available now to listen.  Like most of the original songs contributed to the collection, “WHEN I WAS OLDER” incorporates various sound elements from ROMA’s dense audio tracks.  From shouts of student protests to barkings of Borras to the grinding of knives, artists drew inspiration from the sonic landscape meticulously crafted by ROMA, imbuing their compositions with the day-to-day soundtrack of the streets of Mexico City.  16-year-old Bu Cuarón makes her musical debut with her contribution “PSYCHO,” opening with a dramatic audio clip from ROMA before descending into a synth-heavy, electro-pop gem.  Elsewhere, British singer-songwriter Laura Marling covers the Mary Hopkin original “Those Were The Days,” which is heard in the film as a cover by Ray Conniff & The Singers.  The legendary Patti Smith records a new version of her 1996 track “Wing,” while French musical duo Ibeyi draws inspiration from the character of Cleo and her story.

From hip-hop’s El-P to R&B breakout Jessie Reyez and electronic producers UNKLE and DJ Shadow, the remainder of the collection is a diverse tapestry that transcends genre, geography and age.  From Sonido Gallo Negro and Quique Rangel’s Mexico City roots to singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan’s native Israel, and with artists belonging to five different generations, Music Inspired by the Film ROMA is a contemporary touchstone that further reiterates the film’s ability to connect with audiences of all ages across the globe.

Music Inspired by The Film ROMA is the latest addition to the sonic universe of Alfonso Cuarón’s semi-autobiographical film, following the release of ROMA (Official Motion Picture Soundtrack).  Delivering a sonic portrait of Mexico in the 1970s, the soundtrack presents a mosaic of sounds that further encapsulate the sociopolitical transitions of the era.

Sony Music: "ALL IS TRUE" music by Patrick Doyle

Sony Music proudly announces the release of ALL IS TRUE (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) featuring original music by Oscar-nominee Patrick Doyle (Hamlet, Sense and Sensibility).

Of the soundtrack, composer PATRICK DOYLE says: “I have the great fortune of a long-standing working relationship with Kenneth Branagh, which has been a huge pleasure and very fruitful. Kenneth kindly asked me to score the picture, All Is True, and I readily agreed. I loved the script and, of course, with the knowledge that Ken and Judy would be playing William and Anne, I knew it would be electric and historic.

The schedule was very tight and I was sent the rushes every day, composing hot on the heels of the cut. This included two songs written to Shakespeare's words, which both feature in the screenplay: "Fear No More", from Cymbelne, and "I Know A Bank" from A Midsummer Night's Dream. These songs formed the foundation for the thematic development of the score. It is always a privilege to have the opportunity to set music to William Shakespeare's words. He has been a constant inspiration to composers through the ages and I am no exception.”

The year is 1613, Shakespeare is acknowledged as the greatest writer of the age. But disaster strikes when his renowned Globe Theatre burns to the ground, and devastated, Shakespeare returns to Stratford, where he must face a troubled past and a neglected family. Haunted by the death of his only son Hamnet, he struggles to mend the broken relationships with his wife and daughters. In so doing, he is ruthlessly forced to examine his own failings as husband and father. His very personal search for the truth uncovers secrets and lies within a family at war.

The movie is directed by multiple Oscar-nominee Kenneth Branagh (My Week with Marilyn, Hamlet, Henry V), who also plays William Shakespeare. The film also stars Oscar-winner Judi Dench (Shakespeare in Love) and Oscar-nominee Ian McKellen. The screenplay is by Ben Elton. The film is produced by Tamar Thomas and Ted Gagliano with Judy Hofflund, Matt Jenkins, Becca Kovacik, and Laura Berwick as executive producers.

ABOUT PATRICK DOYLE

Patrick Doyle is a classically trained composer of film, theatre and concert music. He graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music in 1975 and was made a Fellow of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music in 2001. Doyle has been commissioned to score over 55 international feature films, including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Carlito’s Way, Gosford Park, Sense and Sensibility, Thor and recently, Murder On The Orient Express.

His work has led to collaborations with some of the most acclaimed directors in the world, such as Alfonso Cuarón, Brian De Palma, Robert Altman, Ang Lee, Mike Newell, Chen Kaige and Régis Wargnier.

Doyle's creative relationship with director Kenneth Branagh has resulted in many of his best-known scores over the past 25 years, for films such as Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Thor, Cinderella and Murder On The Orient Express.

Doyle has received two Oscar® nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, two Cesar nominations, and won the 1989 Ivor Novello Award for Best Film Theme for Henry V. He has also been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from Scottish BAFTA and from Film Fest Ghent, as well as the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award and PRS Award for Extraordinary Achievement in Music.

Varèse Sarabande: "THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE Season 3" music by Dominic Lewis

Varèse Sarabande is excited to release THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE Season 3 - Original Amazon Series Soundtrack. The music to season 3 of the award-winning Amazon series is composed by Dominic Lewis (CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE) and is available digitally from your favorite music retailer.

Based on Philip K. Dick’s best-selling novel, THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE is a startling depiction of an alternate history; a world in which Nazi Germany and Japan were victorious in World War II. In season 3, historic fiction meets science fiction as alternate realty doppelgangers come into play in this what if? nightmare, where fascism rules and “undesirables” must hide under assumed names and lives.

Known for his musical contributions to action films like THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, G.I. JOE: RETALIATION and RED DAWN, this English-born film composer has an equally animated side with his Annie-nominated, FREE BIRDS, and AACTA-nominated, PETER RABBIT, scores. Not to be limited by screen size, Dominic is both music producer and television composer for the 2017 relaunch of Disney’s DUCKTALES.

From the start of THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, Lewis’ score has brought the distinct cultures of Imperialist Japan and Nazi Germany to life in this off-kilter existence of an occupied United States. Now in season 3, Lewis introduces the music of the neutral zone, a wild-west version America struggling to survive between the dark forces encroaching from both coasts. Complex and as emotionally pitched as the show’s narrative, the season 3 soundtrack challenges listeners with sound that is both familiar and alien as this alternative history epic.

Varèse Sarabande: "COLD PURSUIT" music by George Fenton

Varèse Sarabande proudly announces the release of COLD PURSUIT - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. This action thriller stars Liam Neeson, (TAKEN, TAKEN 2-3) as a snowplow driver seeking revenge against the drug dealers he thinks killed his son. Scored by 5 time Oscar®-nominated composer George Fenton (GANDHI, CRY FREEDOM, DANGEROUS LIAISONS), the soundtrack releases today across all download and streaming services and will be followed by a CD release on March 8th.

Debuting on over 2,000 screens in the U.S., Nels Coxman (Liam Neeson) is a father bent on revenge for his murdered son.  Also starring Laura Dern (JURASSIC PARK, STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI), Emmy Rossum (SHAMELESS, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW) and William Forsythe (THE DEVIL’S REJECTS, RAISING ARIZONA), this action thriller follows Coxman’s transformation from upstanding citizen to coldblooded vigilante hunting a psychotic drug lord named Viking and his sleazy henchmen. Coxman’s vengeance unwittingly sets off a chain of events that includes kidnapping, murder and an all-out turf war between Viking and another rival boss.

The COLD PURSUIT soundtrack is a welcome return to the big screen for the GROUNDHOG DAY composer. George Fenton had until recently been focused more on the small screen, particularly his work on BBC projects. His scores on THE BLUE PLANET and PLANET EARTH have both won the Primetime Emmy® for Outstanding Music Composition.

Varese Sarabande: "HOUSE OF CARDS SEASON 6" music by Jeff Beal

Varèse Sarabande celebrates President’s Day with the release of HOUSE OF CARDS Season 6  - Original Netflix Series Soundtrack. The album features the original music composed by Jeff Beal (JESSE STONE, MONK). The digital album is available now at online retailers, while the CD is a VareseSarabande.com exclusive. All 500 CDs of the limited run are signed by the Emmy® Award-Winning composer. Soundtracks to seasons 1-5 of The HOUSE OF CARDS are also available from Varèse Sarabande.

“It’s with great pleasure I bring you our final installment of music from HOUSE OF CARDS.” Said composer Jeff Beal about the conclusion of the award winning show.  “Our show was about politics, but I always felt it was also about something more universal - the dark recesses of human behavior, ambition, and betrayal. Our show, at it’s best, seemed to be able to make the unlikeable compellingly watchable - at times, relatable. I am honored that these final CDs complete a total of twelve over six seasons.”

The sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed Emmy®-nominated drama HOUSE OF CARDS opens with Golden Globe® winning star Robin Wright (as Claire Underwood) at the helm of the nation as its first female President. Oscar®-nominated actors, Diane Lane (UNFAITHFUL) and Greg Kinnear (AS GOOD AS IT GETS), join season 5 survivors, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Derek Cecil, Paul Sparks and Joel Kinnaman, for a new dawn, a new day for the Underwood administration.

“As the world of real politics devolved during the six year run of our show, the once escapist fun of the devilish Underwoods seemed to inevitably converge towards our present reality.” continued Jeff Beal. “The dangers of fascism, abuse of power, and blind loyalty are obvious and present but could not remove the small glimmer of hope buried deep within HOUSE OF CARDS.  Even the worst villain was occasionally given a fleeting moment of humanity, empathy, decency.  It was in these moments which I felt had the opportunity to express the ache, longing, and stark beauty of such possibilities.”

A five-time EMMY® winner, Jeff Beal’s approach is a fan favorite for more sophisticated works.  His TV credits include HBO’s ROME and CARNIVÀLE. His documentary work includes BLACKFISH, WEINER, THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES, the Oliver Stone four-night documentary event THE PUTIN INTERVIEWS, AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER, which premiered at Sundance, and BOSTON, the documentary about the history of the Boston Marathon.

“The score was equal parts political thriller, dark comedy, noir romance, and operatic tragedy that often emanated from the dark truths of it’s protagonists but still represented a silent supporting character - the voices of their inner monologues, and our story.” concluded composer Jeff Beal. “I hope you enjoy this music, and relish the listening journey as much as I have had in composing it for you.”

MovieScore Media: "Altamira: The Origin of Art" music by Arturo Cardelús

MovieScore Media turns back the clock with the release of Arturo Cardelús’ Altamira: The Origin of Art - a score that skillfully finds common ground between the ancient and the contemporary. MovieScore Media’s digital album comes out today, and the label has licensed the CD rights to Spain’s Rosetta Records, who also released Cardelús’ score for Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles. Directed by José Luis López Linares, Altamira: The Origin of Art is a documentary about the Cave of Altamira, a Paleolithic cave located in Santillana del Mar (Spain) that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. It is renowned for prehistoric parietal cave art featuring charcoal drawings and polychrome paintings of contemporary local fauna and human hands.

“While some researchers believe that the paintings are more than 65,000 years old, something about them feels very current.” says Cardelús about the music. “The director, José Luis López Linares, wanted a score that found common ground between the artists' world and ours. The piano ostinato of “Timeless” and “Altamira” attempts to evoke the part of us that has remained constant for more than 65,000 years. In addition, we incorporated flutes into the score because they are some of the most ancient instruments. The movie also focuses on Marcelino Sanz Sautuola and his daughter, who discovered the cave while exploring. We decided to go for a warm sound to reflect their relationship. We achieved this principally using soloists over a string orchestra.” In addition to Altamira, the album also includes music from the composer’s 2016 short, Swimming in the Desert.

Spanish composer Arturo Cardelús is a rising talent in the film industry. He studied film scoring at Boston's Berklee College of Music, where he graduated summa cum laude. Naxos, a leading classical music label, released an album of his chamber music in 2015. Cardelús has scored the internet sensation In a Heartbeat, the Netflix miniseries Call Me Francis and Frank Marshall's The People's Fighters. His most recent score, Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles, was called "stunning" by Variety's Peter Debruge.

MovieScore Media: "SWINGERS" music by Pessi Levanto

MovieScore Media once again teams up with Pessi Levanto, the composer of Oma maa, to release his full-bloodied swing comedy score for the aptly titled Swingers. Co-written and directed by Pamela Tola, the film is a raunchy comedy about four couples spending a weekend at a swinger’ retreat. Although they are at different points in their relationships, all four of the couples get their faithfulness tested and who knows if all of them manage to survive the resort intact...

“Given the topic of the film, I felt that it was an obvious choice for the music to be swing,” explains Pessi. Since my education and background is in jazz music, I felt comfortable to use this style. I played the piano myself and gathered some of the best jazz musicians in the country for the sessions. Maybe the music is more hard bop in the end than strictly swing stylistically, but I believe the groovy overall sound serves the film quite well. There are some more serious parts in the film but me and the director didn’t want to show the characters any mercy by using music which would make the viewer sympathize with them. Thus there are some rather dark moments but we deliberately went against the picture and use groovy jazz on top of these to mock the characters and make fun of them even more.”

Pessi Levanto has scored eighteen full-length feature films, around thirty short films and documentaries plus miscellaneous spots and commercials. He has released seven records of his own and played in and done arrangements for dozens of others. His credits include the romantic comedy Body Fat Index of Love (2012) and the family adventure Rölli and the Golden Key (2013) and The Swedish Moment (2014). Besides his film work, Pessi is a sought-after arranger. His project Classical Trancelations with the Helsinki Philharmonics, had sold-out shows of orchestral versions of club music classics. His score for Oma maa is also available from MovieScore Media.

Sony Music: "VAN GOGH: OF WHEAT FIELDS AND CLOUDED SKIES music by Remo Anzovino

Sony Music proudly announces the release of VAN GOGH: OF WHEAT FIELDS AND CLOUDED SKIES (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) featuring original music by composer REMO ANZOVINO

Of the soundtrack, composer REMO ANZOVINO says, “Composing the score was an intense journey, an all-consuming experience. The music had to represent the subjective point of view of both protagonists: saying with sound what he must have felt, shut away in the asylum in Saint Remy, painting Starry Night (‘Vincent’); what she must have felt avidly reading his letters to Theo and voraciously viewing his paintings (‘Helene’). What it meant to find yourself in Arles at midday in the middle of a wheat field and to feel, as Vincent wrote to Theo, ‘like a cricket’, happy as never before, literally exploding with colour (‘Arles symphony’).”

VAN GOGH: OF WHEAT FIELDS AND CLOUDED SKIES provides a new look at Van Gogh through the legacy of the greatest private collector of the Dutch artist’s work: Helene Kröller-Müller (1869-1939), who in the early 20th Century, ended up buying nearly 300 of his works, paintings and drawings included. This is a story that tells the tale of the spiritual bond between two people who never met during their lifetime (Helene Kröller-Müller was 21 when Van Gogh died in 1890), but shared the same attraction for the Absolute, the same uncompromising search for a pure artistic, religious dimension.  Directed by Giovanni Piscaglia, the screenplay is by Matteo Moneta with consultancy from Marco Goldin. The film is produced by 3D Produzioni and Nexo Digital with Veronica Bottanelli as an executive producer. The accompanying narrative to the documentary is provided by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.  The film is a part of Nexo Digital’s artbeats project, which aims to bring a worldwide access to art documentaries together with their soundtracks, captured to seize amazing images from completely new and exclusive points of view.

ABOUT REMO ANZOVINO

Born in 1976 to Neapolitan parents, Remo Anzovino began playing the piano and composing music as a child. At age 24 he obtained a first-class Law degree with honors from the University of Bologna, specializing in Criminal Law. Anzovino is currently considered one of the most influential composers and pianists in the Italian music scene. His style is the perfect intersection between art music and world music, it’s the result of a long experience composing for the theatre, advertising (for brands such as Alitalia, Bulgari and NewHolland) and for the cinema. Among the many music titles of the silent pictures he played with orchestra and piano solo, there are many cult movies such as:
