Howlin' Wolf Records: "THE JACK IN THE BOX" music by Christoph Allerstorfer

Howlin' Wolf Records proudly presents Christoph Allerstorfer's score for THE JACK IN THE BOX. In early discussions with the composer, Director Lawrence Fowler envisioned a score in the tradition of classic horror films. THE JACK IN THE BOX was recorded in Vienna using a small ensemble of musicians, which the composer skillfully blends with modern scoring techniques, to craft a richly textured score. [http://howlinwolfrecords.com/]

Debut Album for composer Christoph Allerstorfer and we at Howlin' Wolf Records are proud to able to bring this score to you. On a side note this is the first release I will score an "executive producer", which is the biggest thrill for me.

WaterTower Music: "LOONEY TUNES CARTOONS"

WaterTower Music has announced the digital release of the official soundtrack album to Looney Tunes Cartoons.  Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and, now streaming on HBO Max, Looney Tunes Cartoons is a series of new short-form cartoons starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and other iconic and beloved Looney Tunes characters. Featured on the soundtrack are 26 tracks of music created by composers Joshua Moshier and Carl Johnson, that serve as the musical backdrop of the new series.

Both composers, in discussing their participation, shared their passion for the project and honored the legacy of composer Carl Stalling who was the composer for the original Looney Tunes shorts produced by Warner Bros.  Stalling was said to have averaged one complete score each week, for 22 years.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Warner Bros. and the Carl Stalling style of animation music for Looney Tunes Cartoons!” composer Carl Johnson enthusiastically explained. “The whole team involved with this show has really put tremendous care, craft and effort into these shorts - from the scripts to the voice acting to the animation and sound effects. I think musically we’ve been able to honor the tradition and legacy established during the golden age of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, while adding some new ideas along the way. It’s also a showcase for the amazing studio musicians we have in Los Angeles, who constantly push their playing beyond the bounds of what’s possible. I hope these shorts will entertain a whole new generation of cartoon-loving fans!”

Composer Joshua Moshier shared the same exuberance. “Stepping into the rich musical language of Looney Tunes is a true honor and a humbling pursuit, given the brilliant legacy established by Carl Stalling. A great joy for me is partnering with the brilliant animation team led by Pete Browngardt to push the comedy as far as we can while honoring the tradition of classical and popular music in Looney Tunes.” He continued, “I'm drawing on sketch comedy influences and my background as a musical improviser to incorporate styles of music that did not yet exist in the Termite Terrace era. It's my hope our new cartoons are a bridge to musical knowledge and appreciation in the same way the classic Looney Tunes are for me."

Looney Tunes Cartoons is a series of new short-form cartoons starring the iconic and beloved Looney Tunes characters.

Looney Tunes Cartoons echoes the high production value and process of the original Looney Tunes theatrical shorts with a cartoonist-driven approach to storytelling.  Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and other marquee Looney Tunes characters will be featured in their classic pairings in simple, gag-driven and visually vibrant stories.  Each cartoon will vary from one to six minutes in length and, from the premise on through to the jokes, will be “written” and drawn by the cartoonists allowing their own personality and style to come through in each cartoon.

Looney Tunes Cartoons is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and features veteran Looney Tunes voice cast members including Eric Bauza, Jeff Bergman and Bob Bergen.   Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) and Peter Browngardt (Uncle Grandpa) serve as executive producers.

Joshua Moshier... The music of composer Joshua Moshier has been cited by the Chicago Tribune for "considerable lyric grace and compositional forethought." His series scores include Baskets (FX), Special (Netflix), Three Busy Debras (Adult Swim), Happy Anniversary (Netflix), Sick of It (Sky), and the main title to Documentary Now (IFC). Joshua began his career as an improvising pianist, performing and recording with Marquis Hill and Mike Lebrun. He developed his scoring craft through collaborations with filmmakers and comedians in Chicago, and later as a fellow at the Sundance Institute Film Music Lab. Joshua created the interactive ambisonic music for Google's Earth VR app, and is active in animation, scoring the How to Train Your Dragon-inspired series Dragons: Rescue Riders (Netflix) for DreamWorks and the antics of iconic characters Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck for Looney Tunes Cartoons (HBO Max) from Warner Bros. Animation.

Carl Johnson... Emmy Award-winning composer Carl Johnson has successfully worked across a variety of genres including film, television, theme parks, and stage. His ability to create innovative music for a variety of assignments is rivaled only by his easy-going and collaborative work ethic.

As a composer, Carl has worked with clients including Warner Brothers, Disney, DreamWorks, MGM, and others, and proven his versatility with films such as Piglet’s Big Movie, The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, and The Return of Jafar. His impressive list of television credits include Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Gargoyles, Mighty Ducks, Batman: The Animated Series, Invasion America, and most recently Looney Tunes Cartoons. He has orchestrated on a variety of top-grossing films such as Wall-e, Skyfall, The Perfect Storm, Windtalkers, and The Spiderwick Chronicles. Carl has also written special projects for live theatre and themed attractions around the globe.

WaterTower Music: "PRODIGAL SON" music by Nathaniel Blume

WaterTower Music is excited to announce the digital release of the robust, 30-track soundtrack album to the FOX drama Prodigal Son from Warner Bros. Television, which features score by composer Nathaniel Blume, considered a remarkable musical voice amongst a new generation of film and TV composers. Prodigal Son, which has been picked up for a second season, follows Malcom Bright (Tom Payne), a criminal psychologist who helps the NYPD in solving crimes.

Composer Nathaniel Blume, who was recently featured in Variety's "Music for Screens: 10 Composers to Watch" article as a standout composer, chose a unique approach to the scoring process, weaving sounds of surgical tools with traditional instruments.  "We ran the gamut of instrumentation, utilizing everything from strings to surgical tools like bone cutters as percussion,” Blume explained.  “The score for Prodigal Son was an absolute thrill to create, and a really healthy collaboration with the producers truly brought the drama to life.”

The Prodigal Son score, featuring music by Nathaniel Blume, is now available.

Prodigal Son follows Malcom Bright (Tom Payne), a psychologist who has a gift for understanding how serial killers think, because his father, Dr. Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen) was one of the worst, a notorious serial killer called “The Surgeon.” Bright is the best criminal psychologist around and murder is the family business. He uses his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes for his longtime mentor, NYPD Detective Gil Arroyo (Lou Diamond Phillips), all while dealing with his manipulative mother, Jessica Whitly (Bellamy Young), his seemingly normal sister, Ainsley Whitly (Halston Sage) and a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son. The series also stars Aurora Perrineau, Frank Harts and Keiko Agena.

Prodigal Son is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter serve as executive producers alongside show-runners Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver.

ABOUT NATHANIEL BLUME... With perception and drive to create the best that film composition has to offer, Nathaniel Blume is one of the most dynamic composers working on screen today.

Blume is rapidly becoming a standout voice amongst a new generation of television and film composers. Recently featured in Variety's "Music for Screens: 10 Composers to Watch" article by Jon Burlingame, Blume’s talent for crafting memorable musical interplays can be heard on Fox’s crime series Prodigal Son, by executive producer Greg Berlanti, starring Tom Payne, Michael Sheen and Bellamy Young. He also composed the music for CNN’s 1968: The Year That Changed America, a four-part documentary series; and the decades series - The Eighties, The Nineties, and The 2000s, all from executive producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman.

Additionally, Blume co-composed several hit series with Blake Neely, including CNN’s documentary series The Movies, as well as the decades series - The Sixties, The Seventies; The CW’s The Flash, starring Grant Gustin, Arrow, starring Stephen Amell and Katie Cassidy; ABC’s Deception, starring Jack Cutmore-Scott, and more.

In addition to his television credits, Blume has broad experience scoring both short and feature films including Alex Rotaru’s documentary film Shakespeare High, which screened at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and stars Richard Dreyfuss and Val Kilmer; the animated feature Vixen: The Movie, co-composed with Blake Neely and starring Megalyn Echikunwoke, Stephen Amell and Katie Cassidy; and the Leo Awards winning Jeff Cassidy short “Sidekick,” starring Josh Dallas.

A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, with degrees in music composition from both Butler University (Indianapolis) and Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh), Blume completed his film scoring studies at the University of Southern California's prestigious Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program.

Blume resides in Los Angeles with his wife and children.

Directors Scott Christian Sava and the legendary Tony Bancroft let me go wild on this score, infusing it with kazoos, accordions, gypsy fiddles, calliope, and symphonic orchestra, to create zany chaos for the film’s slapstick comedic adventures, as well as lush melodies to support the heartfelt, sincere family story at the film’s core. I am grateful that Netflix will bring this remarkable film to a wide audience, and that my original score will soon be available from Sony Masterworks."

Sony Music will also release the Animal Crackers (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) on Friday, July 17.  Available for preorder now, the album features original music from Toad the Wet Sprocket, Ian McKellen, Howard Jones and more, as well as well-loved music featured in the film from artists including Michael Bublé, Huey Lewis & the News and Queen.  Making its debut today is a new original track from Toad The Wet Sprocket – listen to “One of Those Days” here.

Recent projects include Orion’s latest reimagining of the 1988 slasher film Child’s Play, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Universal / Blumhouse smash Happy Death Day; the Netflix film ELI, Apple’s new drama series SEE, and Sony PlayStation’s award-winning game God of War; and the drama feature The Professor and the Madman, starring Mel Gibson and Sean Penn. Milan Records: "ARCHIVE" music by Steven Price

Milan Records today releases ARCHIVE (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) with music by Academy Award®-winning composer STEVEN PRICE (Gravity, Baby Driver, Suicide Squad).  Available everywhere now, the album features music written by Price for director Gavin Rothery’s sci-fi film starring Theo James.  Vertical Entertainment will release Archive via virtual cinema, VOD and Digital on Friday, July 10.

Of the soundtrack, composer STEVEN PRICE says, “My favourite projects are the ones where the story leads me into new musical areas, and exploring the world of Archive, a movie where technology and humanity meet in a near future Kyoto, proved to be a brilliant challenge. I’d been looking for the opportunity to create a largely electronic score for the first time in a long while and the story of George Almore, his secretive AI project and the mysterious Archive let me do just that… The music follows the developments in George’s work as it progresses, and as he gets closer to achieving his hopes and dreams it was a lot of fun to blur the lines between the electronic and organic, trying to find the sound of his creations. From the moment I read writer / director Gavin Rothery’s ambitious script I wanted to be involved, and throughout the process he proved to be a great collaborator and true supporter of music. I’m looking forward to people experiencing the movie Gavin has created, and it was a real pleasure to be a part of it.”

“Archive was always going to need a killer score, but when I was writing the script, I had no idea how that was all going to happen,” says the film’s director and writer GAVIN ROTHERY, adding, “I wanted the film to be big and cinematic. But I also needed it to feel tight and personal. I wanted some parts to be epic and bold, but others intimate and close. Some parts needed energy and power but others needed space and quiet. Technology needed to fuse with humanity. And it all needed to feel unified and whole. Basically, as is probably true with most directors, I wanted everything.  Steven gave me everything. He delivered the perfect score to Archive. I'm not quite sure how he does what he does. Maybe he's a secret telepath. Maybe he's from the future. Maybe he's a robot. There is one thing that I am absolutely certain of is that he most definitely is. The best.”
2038: George Almore is working on a true human-equivalent AI. His latest prototype is almost ready. This sensitive phase is also the riskiest. Especially as he has a goal that must be hidden at all costs: being reunited with his dead wife.

ABOUT STEVEN PRICE... Steven Price is an Academy Award-winning composer. In 2014, his groundbreaking score for Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity garnered awards wins in the “Best Original Score” category for the Academy Awards, BAFTAs, Critics’ Choice, and ASCAP’s first-ever “Film Composer of the Year” award. Other prominent projects include Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver (2017) and The World’s End (2013), Tom Harper’s The Aeronauts, (2019), Warner Brothers’ blockbuster hit Suicide Squad (2016), and the WWII epic Fury (2014), written and directed by David Ayer, and starring Brad Pitt. Television credits include Believe (2014), produced by Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams for NBC, the BBC’s The Hunt (2015), a landmark natural history documentary series for which Price won his second BAFTA Award, and Our Planet (Netflix) which earned two Emmy score nominations for the composer in 2019.

Forthcoming 2020 projects include David Attenborough: A Live on Our Planet (Netflix) and Glen Keane’s animation Over the Moon (Netflix).

Price’s debut feature score was for Joe Cornish’s 2011 feature Attack the Block. The score earned Price the award for “Best Original Soundtrack” from both the Austin Film Critics Association and the Sitges Film Festival.

Tor Books: "The Angel of the Crows" - Katherine Addison

Katherine Addison, author of The Goblin Emperor, returns with The Angel of the Crows, a fantasy novel of alternate 1880s London, where killers stalk the night and the ultimate power is naming.

This is not the story you think it is. These are not the characters you think they are. This is not the book you are expecting.  In an alternate 1880s London, angels inhabit every public building, and vampires and werewolves walk the streets with human beings in a well-regulated truce. A fantastic utopia, except for a few things: Angels can Fall, and that Fall is like a nuclear bomb in both the physical and metaphysical worlds. And human beings remain human, with all their kindness and greed and passions and murderous intent.  Jack the Ripper stalks the streets of this London too. But this London has an Angel. The Angel of the Crows.

KATHERINE ADDISON’s short fiction has been selected by The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror and The Year’s Best Science Fiction. As Sarah Monette, she is the author of the Doctrine of Labyrinths series and the Locus Award-winning novel The Goblin Emperor; and co-author, with Elizabeth Bear, of the Iskryne series. She lives near Madison, Wisconsin.

Milan Records: "RED SHOES AND THE SEVEN DWARFS" music by Geoff Zanelli

Milan Records today announces the release of RED SHOES AND THE SEVEN DWARFS (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) with music by Emmy Award-winning composer GEOFF ZANELLI (Into The West, The Pacific, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil).  Available everywhere now, the soundtrack features music from the South Korean animated film, which will make its US debut later this year.

Of the soundtrack, composer GEOFF ZANELLI says, “I love the special imagination it takes to make an animated film, and I was drawn to the story of Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs for its rethink of a fairy tale we all know and love. The score needed to be colorful in order to rise up to the scale of this story, so I lived in Red Shoes' imaginary world for a while while I wrote it. And like any imaginary world, one never really leaves it behind.”

RED SHOES AND THE SEVEN DWARFS is set on Fairy-tale Island, where one out of every dozen people is either a prince or a princess, and out of the dozens of princes on the island, a special group of princes called the Fearless Seven (F7) are known to be the finest of them all. The F7 think they rescue a beautiful princess from a fiery dragon but when they find out she is not as beautiful as they had hoped, they attack her. The fairy princess turns out to be a witch and curses the F7 with a spell that can only be broken with the kiss of the most beautiful girl in the kingdom. The fearless group of seven princes, now transformed into the seven dwarfs, set out on an impossible mission to undo the spell.

Meanwhile, Snow White, whose appearance is far from the perfect beauty that the dwarfs are searching for, stumbles upon a pair of magical Red Shoes that transform her into the beautiful girl who she never thought she could become. She escapes from the wicked queen and somehow finds her way into the dwarfs’ house, seeking help to find her missing father.

Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs is directed by Sungho Hong and stars Chloë Grace Moretz (Let Me In, Kick-Ass, Carrie), Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Me Before You), Gina Gershon (Bound, Showgirls), Patrick Warburton (The Emperor’s New Groove, Bee Movie, Get Smart), Jim Rash (The Way Way Back, Community)

Emmy Award-winning composer Geoff Zanelli is a standout in the film and television scoring industry, garnering accolades and recognition for his distinct musical voice. Zanelli has composed for directors such as Gore Verbinski and Ridley Scott; writer/directors David Koepp, Peter Hedges, and Deon Taylor; producers Jerry Bruckheimer, Steven Spielberg, and Jeffrey Katzenberg; as well as actor/producers Angelina Jolie and Tom Hanks.

Zanelli’s most recent work includes working with two frequent director collaborators, scoring David Koepp’s “You Should Have Left” starring Kevin Bacon, and Amanda Seyfried, and Deon Taylor’s “Fatale” which stars two-time Academy Award-winning actress Hillary Swank, and Michael Ealy. Previous work includes “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” including the original song “You Can’t Stop The Girl,” “The Intruder,” “Black and Blue.,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” “The Odd Life of Timothy Green,”“Christopher Robin,” “Mortdecai,” “Masterminds,” “Into The West” (Emmy-award Win for Outstanding Music Composition),  “The Pacific” (Emmy nomination), “Disturbia,”“Hitman,” “Gamer,” “Ghost Town,” and “Secret Window”(co-written with Philip Glass).

Zanelli has contributed music to many feature films including“Justice League,” “The Lone Ranger;” “The Last Samurai”(Golden Globe nominee), “Pearl Harbor” (Golden Globe nominee), “Rango,” “Hannibal,” “Angels & Demons,”“Antz,” “Chicken Run,” “Shark Tale,” and “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.”

Sony Music: "THE LAST OF US PART II" music by GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA and additional music by MAC QUAYLE!

Sony Music today announces the release of THE LAST OF US PART II (ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK) with music by GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA and additional music by MAC QUAYLE.  Available now to stream and for digital download, the album features music written by Santaolalla and Quayle for the second installment of the fan-favorite action-adventure game from Sony Interactive Entertainment.  Developed by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us Part II will be available for PlayStation® 4 (PS4™) system on Friday, June 19.

Of the soundtrack, composer GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA says, "Composing the music for The Last of Us Part II represented one of the biggest challenges of my career. Diving into the universe of the first game inspired me to come up with sounds, instrumentation and moods that became very closely related to the story and the characters. Fortunately, people found in the music the precise emotional support that a story such as The Last of Us required. The way in which fans related to the score of that first game is something I had never experience before.

In that context, writing new music for Part II demanded from me even more soul searching and more experimenting. So just as in the first game, where the acoustic guitar and the vintage 6 string bass played an important role in the narrative, this time the banjo, a special classical guitar (fitted with strings that are an octave lower) and my ever-present ronroco, became the story tellers of the score. Once again, I could only conceive the emotion that drove me to compose this music thanks to the amazing, multilayered story that is The Last of Us.”

“Gustavo is a legend and working with him on this game was a fantastic experience. However, the relentless tension and aggression needed for the score still has my adrenaline levels surging! “adds composer MAC QUAYLE.

Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors.  When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.

Intrada: "THE YOUNG LIONS" (2CD) music by Hugo Friedhofer

Intrada's latest release features Hugo Friedhofer's 1950s masterpiece from the 20th Century Fox film The Young Lions. Friedhofer's stunning main theme is a tightly wound and restless march, never resolving, merely transitioning to the sprightly, energetic ski scene that opens the movie, revealing one of Friedhofer's finest main titles. Friedhofer treats the romance of the film with both sensitive underscoring as well as source music. When Friedhofer's score meets the war itself, the composer does so, as Frank DeWald describes in this notes, "with stark, angular lines, strong dissonance and dark orchestral colors."

For this expanded edition of the original 1958 Decca soundtrack album, Intrada had access to all the mutli-track elements stored at 20th Century, preserved in vibrant stereo. This allowed Intrada to present many previously unreleased cues, including an alternate ending to the score. The score is presented in film order on CD 1, while CD2 presents the source music arranged and recorded for the film as well as a newly remastered presentation of the classic stereo Decca album.

Set during World War II, the film (based on Irwin Shaw's 1948 novel), uses the war as backdrop, focusing on three soldiers and their intertwined stories — two Americans and one German, their rugged experiences and the women in their lives. Directed by Edward Dmytrk, the film stars Marlon Brando as the German soldier going from idealistic enthusiasm to profound disillusionment. Montgomery Clift plays a down-on-his-luck Jewish kid from Brooklyn American solider number one, and Dean Martin plays reluctant draftee American solider number two.

Note: Due to local restrictions related to the pandemic, shipping time may be slower than usual

ABOUT TERENCE BLANCHARD: Oscar® nominee, six-time Grammy-winner and 2018 USA Fellow trumpeter/composer Terence Blanchard has been a consistent artistic force for making powerful musical statements concerning painful American tragedies – past and present.

From his expansive work composing the scores for Spike Lee films ranging from the documentary When the Levees Broke, about Blanchard’s hometown of New Orleans during the devastation from Hurricane Katrina to the epic Malcolm X; and the latest Lee film, Da 5 Bloods, Blanchard has interwoven melodies that created strong backdrops to human stories.

Blanchard received an Oscar® nomination for his original score for Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman. He was also BAFTA nominated for his original music for the film. He won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition for writing “Blut Und Boden (Blood and Soil)” a track from BlacKkKlansman.

Varèse Sarabande: "THE RUNNING MAN" [VINYL] music by Harold Faltermeyer

Varèse Sarabande Records is thrilled to announce the upcoming special release of The Running Man Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Deluxe Edition) by GRAMMY®-winning composer Harold Faltermeyer (Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Cop Out and the upcoming film Top Gun: Maverick). The Deluxe Edition version will be available digitally and released on LP for the first time on August 14, 2020. The LP version is available for pre-order today, June 15, on VareseSarabande.com.

In the year 2019, America is a totalitarian state where the favorite television program is The Running Man—a game show in which prisoners must run to freedom to avoid a brutal death. Having been made a scapegoat by the government, an imprisoned Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has the opportunity to make it back to the outside again by being a contestant on the deadly show, although the twisted host, Damon Killian (Richard Dawson) has no intention of letting him escape.

The original (1987) 17-track soundtrack has been expanded to 35 tracks, which include additional music and unreleased and alternate cues. The album was remastered from the original Paramount Pictures sources. The package features original artwork, images from the film and a booklet with extensive liner notes by film music journalist Daniel Schweiger.

Harold Faltermeyer on this special deluxe edition release: “Scoring The Running Man was a rather big challenge. After the urban and bouncy score for Beverly Hills Cop, and the epic and heroic score for Top Gun, I was facing a new territory. The Running Man needed a dark, ominous sound design with a new sound library we had to create. It was fun working on this movie and it‘s great to see that after all these years, there is still a vivid interest. I was very delighted when I heard that Varèse Sarabande would be releasing the entire score!”

Silva Screen Records: "THUNDERBIRDS" music by Barry Gray

To celebrate Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s legacy, Silva Screen is releasing music from the Anderson’s iconic TV shows in CD, digital and vinyl formats. Following the releases of UFO and Supercar soundtracks, Thunderbirds is the 3rd release in the series. It is newly compiled, mastered and designed by the creative team at Fanderson - The Official Gerry And Sylvia Anderson Appreciation Society.

The album features 37 tracks from 19 episodes (series 1 and 2), including the Thunderbirds main theme and closing titles. The tracks were not programmed to follow the episode order but to achieve an integrated listening experience. The best bits of the sixties’ soundscapes are here. The Thunderbirds soundtrack is an effective time capsule as Gray’s music veers into British spy genre, Latin pop, exotica, urban jazz and military marches. Beautifully composed and conducted, the score reflects the moods of the scenes, from dangerous to romantic, no-nonsense to silly, fraught to fragile. The score’s musical landscape was given cohesion by Gray’s masterful use of leitmotifs. Perhaps, Barry Gray’s creative role in Thunderbirds is comparable to John Barry’s in early James Bond movies.

Barry Gray was a classically trained composer and a versatile musician and was amongst the first composers to use electronic instruments in music for television. Best known for creating the music for most of the Gerry & Sylvia Anderson television series in the 1960's and 70's (Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, UFO, Space:1999), Barry Gray’s complete musical opus is still not commercially available in its entirety. Fanderson, dedicated to the productions of Gerry Anderson, has gained access to all Barry Gray's original studio tapes and have undertaken a major re-issue project. Together with Fanderson, Silva Screen Records is championing Barry Gray’s incredible musical opus and is releasing the material in a series of physical and digital albums and vinyl records. Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he desperately tries to save his father who has been kidnapped. In order to pay his ransom, Artemis must infiltrate an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies—and bring the kidnapper the Aculos, the fairies’ most powerful and coveted magical device. To locate the elusive object, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.

“Artemis Fowl” is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench. Kenneth Branagh, p.g.a. and Judy Hofflund, p.g.a. are producing with Matthew Jenkins and Angus More Gordon serving as executive producers. Conor McPherson and Hamish McColl wrote the screenplay.

Varese Sarabande: "SEAQUEST DSV" 2CD music by John Debnry

seaQuest DSV was set in 2018, when a political organization called the United Earth Oceans (UEO) formed in response to the colonization of the deep sea. Keeping peace among the various inter-oceanic conflicts is the grand, futuristic seaQuest DSV (“deep submergence vehicle”). The series was created by Rockne S. O’Bannon and produced by Steven Spielberg.

The Deluxe Edition soundtrack was composed and conducted by Emmy®-winning composer, John Debney (Elf, The Orville, Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book). The original (1995) 14-track album has been expanded to 58 tracks and two CDs. The album was remastered from the original sources provided by Debney. Disc one features music from the show’s pilot episode, while disc two features music from selected episodes from Season One curated by John Debney. The deluxe set features eight pages of extensive liner notes from film music journalist Tim Greiving and from the show’s creator, Rockne S. O’Bannon.

John Debney on the deluxe edition release: “seaQuest holds a special place in my heart. It was an exciting time for me working with Amblin and Steven Spielberg. I had done a wonderful Civil War pilot for Steven called ‘The Class of ’61.’ Although the pilot didn’t sell, Steven liked what I’d done and soon after invited me to work on the seaQuest pilot. I’ll never forget composing what was basically a teaser for the show. We recorded at the old Evergreen studios in Burbank. The teaser turned out well and shortly after presenting to NBC, I got the call that the show was a ‘Go.’

“Working on the show was a dream and frequently Steven would send a note expressing his love for the score. Created by the amazing Rockne S. O’Bannon, seaQuest was a show ahead of its time speaking to the human condition and important environmental Issues. Every week was a new adventure and I’m so grateful to Steven, Amblin and the wonderful directors and producers I met on the show. I hope you enjoy the amazing performances of the Los Angeles recording musicians who always brought their ‘A’ game. Enjoy!” *Limited Collector’s Edition of 1,500 copies.
