KeepMoving Records: "SADAN HANIM" music by George Kallis

KeepMoving Records once again teams up with composer George Kallis (Lev Yashin: The Dream Goalkeeper) in the composer’s latest documentary score. Directed by Göksel Gülensoy, Sadan Hanim takes a look at the progress of Alzheimer’s through the life of a Turkish woman, Sadan Ünüvar. Produced over an unprecedented time frame of four years, the film takes a unique approach to exploring the decades of history between Sadan and her husband Ziyaeddin, often using original 8mm home movies shot in a number of locations, including the United States, Italy, Morocco and Turkey.

“Director Göksel Gülensoy initially got in touch with me for a completely different project” recalls George about the project, “but as he proceeded to shoot Sadan Hanim, he asked me to join him on this venture as well. Göksel was really interested in a thematic approach, but he wanted to find the right balance, a more intimate score that has the capability to portray a sense of humanity and vulnerability – something that shows both the tragedy and a hopeful message about overcoming it. As a result of this concept, the score revolves around two themes with a concentric structure that parallels the degenerative qualities of Alzheimer’s.”

George Kallis earned a musical scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston and represented his alma mater on an NBC special about film music in his final year. After relocating to London, he followed up his Bachelor’s Degree with a Masters of Music in Composition at The Royal College of Music. His first important score was written for Highlander: The Source, the fourth installment of the fantasy franchise. Since then, he has written epic scores for the ebola crisis (93 Days), the magical kingdom of Albion (Albion: The Enchanted Stallion) and even his native Greece (Cliffs of Freedom). He has also ventured into the world of Russian cinema with Gagarin: First in Space and Disney’s The Last Warrior. [https://keepmovingrecords.com/]

KeepMoving Records: "AK-47" music by Sergei Stern

KeepMoving Records teams up with composer Sergei Stern by releasing his thematically rich score for the ambitious biographical picture AK-47 (aka Kalashnikov). Directed by Konstantin Buslov, the film tells the story of inventor and designer Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov whose name has become synonymous with automatic weapons. The film chronicles the long and thorny path the self-taught innovator traveled to create the legendary AK-47 weapon at the age of 28, while also discussing the controversial legacy of his greatest innovation. The digital version of the score is released by MovieScore Media.

“This score is extremely melodic and is the result of our close collaboration with the director, Konstantin Buslov, and 40 piece strings orchestra,” says Sergei Stern about his contributions. “There is a main theme that appears in the ’Main Title’, Kalashnikov’s theme that appears and develops in ’Childhood Invention’, ’Creation’, ’Parade’. There is also a Russian-Village Theme portraying Kalashnikov’s childhood: his family, his past – I played balalaika and accordion on this one and this theme is featured in the ’Letter /Injury’ track. Kalashnikov’s love story develops throughout the entire film and the love theme, that I enjoyed doing in particular, comes to a climactic moment in one of my favorite tracks, ’Romantic Meetup’.”

Sergei Stern is a classically trained composer with music band background and a deep interest in electronic music. He has scored a dozen feature films and over 80 short films, while his music can be heard in various feature films, TV shows and video games. Some of his selected credits include The Envelope (2017) and Queen of Spades 2: Through the Looking Glass (2019) (both produced by AK-47 director Konstantin Buslov) and the upcoming Cicada 3301 (2020) by Alan Ritchson [https://keepmovingrecords.com/]

Silva Screen Records: "A SUITABLE BOY" music by Alex Heffes with Anoushka Shankar

Based on Vikram Seth’s 1300-page book following the fortunes of four large families, the six-part series is directed by Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding) and adapted for screen by Andrew Davies (War and Peace, Pride and Prejudice). The series was created by an almost exclusively all Indian cast and crew and main roles featured Tanya Maniktala (Lata), Ishaan Khattar (Maan), Mahira Kakkar (Mrs Mehra), Danesh Razvi (Kabir), Namit Das (Haresh).

A Suitable Boy is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer, and will be released on Netflix on October 23 in all global territories, except Canada, the U.S. and China. The DVD will be available from 26th October.

The score was composed by Alex Heffes with Anoushka Shankar, world renowned sitar player. Previously paired on Mira Nair’s 2016 Disney Film Queen Of Katwe, Alex knew how important the music score is to her. Says Alex of his work with Mira “music flows throughout Vikram Seth’s book so we discussed very early on how to tie the original score into the very authentic music world of India that had been captured on screen and how to create a musical language for the score that weaves between the world of Classical Indian music and the world of film music… careful consideration was given to how to integrate orchestra into the Indian musical world, often having to learn to follow the phrasing and bending of the sitar.”

In search of character’s music themes, Alex arranged experimental sessions with some of the UK’s best classical Indian performers, combining tabla, mridangam, kanjeera, ghatam and many other percussion instruments with bansuri (Classical Indian flute), tanbura and the sitar. Early on, the decision was made that the sitar would be Lata’s ‘voice’. For Kabir they used the bansuri, played by acclaimed indian performer Ashwin Srinivasan and for the character of Amit, the solo violinist Philippe Honoré provided the musical voice. For suitor number three, Haresh, a variety of pitched Indian classical percussion such as clay pots, mangeera (hand cymbals), ghungroos and morsing (jaw harp) was employed, played by percussionist Sanket Naik.

Says Mira Nair “The three of us (Mira, Anoushka and Alex) approached several Indian artistes. Ashwin Srinivasan, the great flutist, plays throughout the soundtrack. Namit Das, who also acts as Haresh Khanna in A Suitable Boy, is an extraordinary singer who composed the boatman’s song as the lovers crossed the Ganges. Gagan Dev Riar, who also acts in A Suitable Boy, made a beautiful song of longing for the widow in the village scenes.

We were lucky to get the great maestro, Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan, the son of the legendary Ustad Vilayat Khan, to perform ‘Jhinjhoti’ and ‘Khamaj’ on screen in two concerts. The syncretic nature between traditional Indian sound and the Islamic influences that had arrived through Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan, which was then called India; all of this confluence can be experienced in the music of A Suitable Boy.”

A Suitable Boy soundtrack is digitally released by Silva Screen Records on October 23rd. [http://www.silvascreenusa.com]

Maisie Music Publishing: "THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT" music by Carlos Rafael Rivera

Maisie Music Publishing, LLC has digitally released music from the Netflix limited series The Queen’s Gambit from Oscar®-nominated writer and director Scott Frank (Logan, Out of Sight). The album is comprised of the lush original score by Emmy® Award-winning composer Carlos Rafael Rivera, who previously collaborated with Frank on the Emmy-winning Netflix series Godless and the action-drama feature Walk Among the Tombstones. The Queen’s Gambit album is available on all major streaming platforms today, October 23, in conjunction with the global release of the limited series on Netflix.

“I have always loved underdog tales like Rocky, or Rudy. The moment I read Scott Frank’s teleplay, I knew getting to work with him in telling Beth Harmon’s story would be one of the great thrills of my life,” says Carlos Rafael Rivera. “It was something special, and to say the least, challenging, as we were going to have to make the game of Chess exciting on screen for those who play it—and even for those who don’t.”

Rivera adds, “Having such a complex protagonist as Beth Harmon, I wanted to avoid writing a ‘Beth Theme,’ but rather themes for different aspects of her character: addiction, genius, mischief, growth, etc. By resorting to these, I could apply and develop them throughout the seven episodes, as Beth herself developed, helping create a more holistic representation of her character.”

“I am ever grateful to Scott for trusting in me to bring all of these musical ideas, that slowly developed throughout each episode, into a fully matured state, playing into one very tense, dramatic, and ultimately exhilarating ending,” says Rivera.

ABOUT THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT... Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, the Netflix limited series drama The Queen’s Gambit is a coming-of-age story that explores the true cost of genius. Abandoned and entrusted to a Kentucky orphanage in the late 1950s, Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) discovers an astonishing talent for chess while developing an addiction to tranquilizers provided by the state as a sedative for the children. Haunted by her personal demons and fueled by a cocktail of narcotics and obsession, Beth transforms into an impressively skilled and glamorous outcast while determined to conquer the traditional boundaries established in the male-dominated world of competitive chess. The series is directed and written by two-time Academy Award nominee Scott Frank and executive produced by Frank, William Horberg and Allan Scott, who also co-created the series. The Queen’s Gambit stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Marielle Heller, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Moses Ingram, Harry Melling and Bill Camp.

ABOUT CARLOS RAFAEL RIVERA... Carlos Rafael Rivera is an Emmy® Award-winning composer, whose career has spanned several genres of the music industry. He mentored with the incomparable Randy Newman while studying at USC's Thornton School of Music. His work for Film and TV includes scores for Netflix’s Godless, directed by Scott Frank and produced by Steven Soderbergh, starring Jeff Daniels and Michelle Dockery, as well as Universal Pictures’ A Walk Among the Tombstones, starring Liam Neeson. As a guitarist, he has performed onstage as opening act for The Who at the Hollywood Bowl; recorded studio sessions for Island/Def Jam, and Universal Records; and had songs featured on feature soundtracks (Crash, Dragonfly), as well as Netflix’s Firefly Lane, ABC’s Scrubs, MTV, and VH-1. Carlos is Assistant Professor and Director of the Media Writing and Production Program at the acclaimed Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He is represented by Bradley Rainey at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment (WME).

Intrada: "THE LAST CASTLE" (2CD) music by Jerry Goldsmith

Expanded and remastered Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack on 2 CDs! Dreamworks Pictures presents, Rod Lurie directs, Robert Redford, James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo, Clifton Collins Jr., Delroy Lindo star. A clash of wills, a test of strength… behind bars! Gandolfini is the military prison warden, Redford the new inmate with a twist: he’s also a decorated general, not accustomed to following but leading, now a fallen hero just doing his time. Before long his ideals put him in conflict with the warden’s and the other prisoners find themselves “pawns” in a giant chess game with their lives at stake. The chess metaphor (note the film’s title) anchors the increasingly dangerous game playing out between the two protagonists.

An all-out battle looms ahead. Complex film had the misfortune of being completed just as the terrible events of September 11, 2001 took place. The impact affected the mood and outcome of the film itself with the American flag as a centerpiece. In fact, Jerry Goldsmith completed his score close to the terror attacks and named his primary theme, “September 11, 2001”. The incredibly moving, solemn minor-key theme plays typically on solo trumpet, scored by the composer for ace trumpeter Malcolm McNab, who contributes a personalized paragraph in the booklet notes specifically for this release. But the score offers much more: as conflicts build, Goldsmith increases the tension as well. [CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION]

WaterTower Music: "THE WITCHES" music by Alan Silvestri

WaterTower Music is pleased to announce today’s release of the soundtrack to the film. The Witches (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) features music from acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning, Oscar-nominated composer Alan Silvestri (Polar Express, Forrest Gump), who has blazed an innovative trail with his exciting and melodic scores, winning the applause of Hollywood and movie audiences the world over.

Reimagining Dahl’s beloved story for a modern audience, Robert Zemeckis’s visually innovative film tells the darkly humorous and heartwarming tale of a young orphaned boy who, in late 1967, goes to live with his loving Grandma in the rural Alabama town of Demopolis.  As the boy and his grandmother encounter some deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches, she wisely whisks our young hero away to an opulent seaside resort.  Regrettably, they arrive at precisely the same time that the world’s Grand High Witch has gathered her fellow cronies from around the globe—undercover—to carry out her nefarious plans. The film stars Oscar winners Anne Hathaway (“Les Misérable,” “Ocean’s 8”) and Octavia Spencer (“The Help,” “The Shape of Water”), Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci (“The Hunger Games” films, “The Lovely Bones”), with Kristin Chenoweth (TV’s “Glee” and “BoJack Horseman”) and award-winning comedy legend Chris Rock.  Newcomer Jahzir Kadeem Bruno (TV’s “Atlanta”) also stars, alongside Codie-Lei Eastick (“Holmes & Watson”). Based on the book by Roald Dahl, the screenplay is by Robert Zemeckis & Kenya Barris (TV’s “black-ish,” “Shaft”) and Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro (“The Shape of Water”).  Zemeckis is also producing, alongside Jack Rapke, del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón and Luke Kelly.  hbomax.com/the-witches TheWitchesMovie.net Instagram: @WitchesMovie Twitter: @HBOMax, @WBPictures Facebook: @HBOMax, @WarnerBrosPictures

ABOUT THE WITCHES... With 300 million books sold and one new book sold every 2.5 seconds, Roald Dahl stories continue to grow in popularity. The Witches is one of Roald Dahl’s most beloved titles, now translated into over 41 different languages worldwide. Published over 30 years ago, its themes of kindness, bravery and hope remain as relevant to young people as ever.

ABOUT ALAN SILVESTRI... In his decades-long career as a composer, and a credit list of over 100 films Alan Silvestri has composed some of the most recognizable and beloved themes in movie history. His efforts have been recognized with two Oscar nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, three Grammy awards, two Emmy awards, and numerous International Film Music Critics Awards, Saturn Awards, and Hollywood Music In Media Awards.

The 1970s established Silvestri as the action rhythmatist for TV's highway patrol hit "CHiPs," which caught the ear of a young filmmaker named Robert Zemeckis, whose hit film, 1984's "Romancing the Stone," was the perfect first date for the composer and director, and became the basis of a decades long collaboration that continues to this day. Their numerous collaborations have taken them through fascinating landscapes and stylistic variations, from the "Back to the Future" trilogy to the jazzy world of Toontown in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" the tension filled rooms of "What Lies Beneath" and "Death Becomes Her", to the cosmic wonder of "Contact;" the emotional isolation of "Castaway", to the magic of the "Polar Express". But perhaps no film collaboration defines their creative relationship better than Zemeckis' 1994 Best Picture winner, "Forrest Gump", for which Silvestri's gift for melodically beautiful themes earned him an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination and the affection of film music lovers everywhere. This 35-year, 21 film collaboration includes such recent films as "Flight", "Allied" and most recently "Welcome To Marwen".

Though his collaboration with Zemeckis is legendary, Silvestri has scored films of every style and genre. He has brought excitement and emotion to the hard-hitting orchestral scores for Steven Spielberg's "Ready Player One", James Cameron's "The Abyss" as well as "Predator" and "The Mummy Returns." His diversity is on full display in family entertainment films such as "The Father of the Bride 1 and 2", "Parent Trap", "Stuart Little 1 and 2", "Lilo and Stitch", "The Croods," "Night at the Museum 1, 2 and 3" while his passion for melody fuels the romantic emotion of films like "The Bodyguard" and "What Women Want".

Most recently, Alan has composed the music for Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame." The film is the culmination of a partnership with Marvel that began in 2011 with Alan's dynamically heroic score for "Captain America: The First Avenger" followed by "Avengers". Since 2011 Alan's collaboration with Marvel helped propel "The Avengers" and "Avengers: Infinity War" to spectacular world-wide success.

Silvestri's has also achieved songwriting success. His partnership with six-time Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard has produced hits such as the Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated "Believe" (Josh Groban) for "The Polar Express", "Butterfly Fly Away" (Miley Cyrus) for "Hannah Montana The Movie", "God Bless Us Everyone" (Andrea Bocelli) for "A Christmas Carol" and "A Hero Comes Home" (Idina Menzel) for "Beowulf".

Caldera Records: "ANGELICA" music by Zbigniew Preisner

Caldera Records is proud to present Zbigniew Preisner’s score for the motion picture “Angelica” from 2015, directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein.

“Angelica” also tells a story of female empowerment. It is based on Arthur Phillips’ book of the same name, published in 2007, and adapted for the screen by Lichtenstein. Set in the Victorian age in England, Phillips and Lichtenstein describe the trials and tribulations of Constance (played by Jena Malone), a young woman who falls in love with a successful scientist. Their romance blossoms and leads to marriage. Eventually, a child is born, a girl they name Angelica. The birth is grueling, and Constance nearly loses her life. For her, everything changes in an instant: she is told in no uncertain terms by her doctor that she is to refrain from engaging in vaginal sex (and therefore become a “hortus conclusus”) – otherwise she will risk her health and quite possibly leave her daughter motherless. From this moment Constance goes into a downward-spiral.

Zbigniew Preisner’s music pays tribute to the elegant romanticism of the 19th century, while at the same time weaving more experimental elements into it. The composer decided against creating specific leitmotifs for the individual characters. Instead, his music follows the story as it progresses. Hence, Preisner developed variations on the themes as demanded by the story. For example, there is no theme for Constance per se. Preisner follows her journey with various motifs and themes, divided into what the composer calls the “courtly” and the “modern.”

The 38th CD-release of Caldera Records – a world premiere – features a detailed booklet-text by Stephan Eicke and elegant artwork by Luis Miguel Rojas. The CD was mastered by Leszek Kaminski and produced by Stephan Eicke and John Elborg. [http://caldera-records.com]

Haunting and mysterious score by composer who always brings and maintains the main theme throughout the whole score and brings the score together. Subtle sadness with the guitar only to a ghostly piano that brings it all to one place and that place holds your attention. ANGELICA by composer great Zbigniew Preisner brings another worthy piece to the already growing catalogue of soundtracks.

Intrada: "THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR" music by The Newton Brothers

The Paramount Television series The Haunting of Bly Manor is the follow-up series to the 2018 The Haunting of Hill House, which was based on the novel by Shirley Jackson. This time, it is Henry James' The Turn of the Screw that gets a modern retelling. The Wingrave family children Flora and Miles have been orphaned, left in the care of their absent uncle (played by Henry Thomas, also star of Hill House). Uncle Henry is hands-off, so he hires an au pair to look after and teach the children, with the companionship of and sometimes help from the cook, housekeeper and groundskeeper. Not everything is as it seems, as the history of the manor has draped the estate in a curse and there are more residents than at first meets the eye.

To score Bly Manor, the Newton Brothers return from their Hill House scoring duties to provide the regal yet mysterious surroundings with a largely string-based score, along with piano solos. The score is haunting as one would expect, but it's more sophisticated than just that -- it's a mix of nostalgia, warmth, angst and confusion. Memories, tragedy, love, family...a home's history is a complex mixture of emotions and experiences that makes haunting a complicated business. To musically envelop Bly Manor with all these mixed emotions, The Newton Brothers assembled an orchestra comprised of 10 violins, four violas, four cellos, and one bass. The dominant solo color comes from the piano, which seems to capture the complexity of Bly Manor's history all by itself.

Starts Shipping in November!
Note: Due to local restrictions related to the pandemic, shipping time may be slower than usual

" KILLING SMALL ANIMALS" music by Oscar Fogelström

Horror short ”Killing Small Animals” premiered at Gothenburg Film Festival and is currently doing festival rounds. It has already won several awards, and is screening at HollyShorts, an Academy Awards® Qualifying Festival, in November. [https://www.n10yrecords.com]

A desperate attempt to alleviate the loneliness, sadness and anxiety of a woman (Louise Peterhoff) further and further into the destructiveness. What begins with a crushed butterfly soon takes on unimaginable proportions and in the beautiful environments a gasping psychological thriller develops where we are thrown beyond all control.

Sony Music/Masterworks: "YELLOW ROSE" music by Christopher H. Knight

Sony Music Masterworks today releases YELLOW ROSE (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK), an album of music featured in the upcoming musical drama from director Diane Paragas.  Available everywhere now, the album features a mix of newly-recorded original tracks as performed in the film by Eva Noblezada, Dale Watson and Lea Salonga as well as score tracks by composer Christopher H. Knight.  The result of a collaborative writing process between the director, country singer Dale Watson and Filipino-American singer and actress Thia Megia, the new original tracks are performed in the film by Watson and lead Eva Noblezada, a breakout star of Broadway’s hit smash Hadestown.  Following the story of a young Filipina teen as she fights to pursue her dreams of becoming a country performer, Yellow Rose makes its theatrical debut Friday, October 9 via Sony Pictures’ Stage 6 Films.

“Music is truly the heart and soul of Yellow Rose,” says the film’s director DIANE PARAGAS of the soundtrack.  “Even if you’re not a country fan, I know you will love these songs performed by the extraordinary Eva Noblezada, legendary Lea Salonga and Dale Watson.  Dale also contributed his amazing songwriting talents to the film along with myself and Thia Megia.  In addition, we include the haunting score from our composer Christopher H. Knight.  I think the number one question I get asked at every Q&A is if Yellow Rose will get a soundtrack.  I’m proud to finally say that Sony Music is making this dream a reality!”

“I was thrilled when Diane asked me to write the score for her feature film directorial debut,” adds composer CHRISTOPHER H. KNIGHT.  “We worked closely on the tone and texture of the music. She brought me in very early in the process, which was essential as it allowed us to build an emotional thread throughout the film that would work alongside the wonderful songs she had written with Dale Watson. It was also important for the score to have its own voice. With that in mind, in addition to using traditional instrumentation, I created ambient atmospheres by processing Filipino folk instruments in unconventional ways to provide a rich sonic fabric that would support Rose’s inspirational journey.”

Rose, an undocumented Filipina girl, dreams of one day leaving her small Texas town to pursue her country music dreams. Her world is shattered when her mom suddenly gets picked up by immigration and Customs Enforcement. Rose, facing this new reality, is forced to flee the scene, leaving behind the only life she knows, and embarking on a journey of self-discovery as she searches for a new home in the honky tonk world of Austin, Texas.

Christopher H. Knight attended the University of Texas at Austin. While at UT, he studied Electronic and Computer Music with renowned composer and professor Russell Pinkston. It was at this time when he scored his first short films. He has gone on to score a wide range of TV and film projects. Christopher’s opening themes for Masterpiece Classic and Masterpiece Mystery are heard on PBS and Amazon Prime by millions every week. You can also hear his music during NBC’s Sunday Night Football. In 2017, he re-imagined and updated the classic HBO “Feature Presentation” theme, which IndieWire hailed as, “…honestly more epic than most Marvel Superhero themes.” Knight has written the scores to several films including: A Close Enemy [Sony/Monumental Pictures], Six Degrees Could Change the World [NatGeo], Echo Park [Array Films] and Yellow Rose [Sony/Stage 6 Films]. He has also worked with composer Blake Neely writing music for Blindspot [NBC], Arrow [CW], and the hit Netflix series YOU.

Varèse Sarabande: "THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7" music by Daniel Pemberton

Varèse Sarabande Records will digitally release The Trial of the Chicago 7 album on October 16, the same day the film debuts worldwide on Netflix. Pre-order is available today, October 8, with the track “Hear My Voice,” available for immediate download as an instant grat. The official music video for “Hear My Voice” premiered today exclusively by Variety and can be viewed here. A CD release of the soundtrack scheduled for November 20, is also available for pre-order starting today.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 tells the story of the violent clash with police at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. In what was intended to be a peaceful protest, the organizers—Abbie Hoffman (Sacha Baron Cohen), Jerry Rubin (Jeremy Strong), Tom Hayden (Eddie Redmayne), Bobby Seale (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and others—are charged with conspiracy to incite a riot, leading to one of the most notorious trials in history.

“The first time I met Aaron Sorkin to talk through our ideas for the film, he’d already formulated the entire plan in his head. He knew the moments where the music should be strong and bold, and then also the ones where it should take more of a subtle and supporting role,” says Pemberton. “I wanted there to be two worlds juxtaposing against each other—from the perceived restraint and control of the courtroom to chaos of the riots, which were some of my favorite moments to score.”

Celeste spoke of her contribution to the original song, “Hear My Voice,” stating, “I am so grateful to be part of such an important and timely film. Daniel Pemberton and I wanted to create a song that would be as meaningful, relevant and powerful as Aaron Sorkin’s film. He’s a true visionary and it really is an honor to contribute to this story.”

Pemberton adds, “One of the first things Aaron Sorkin talked to me about was his vision for a song that could end the film, that could leave us with a sense of hope and possibility, of light beyond the darkness. I wanted to write something that captured the ideals of protest, that every person has a voice and a dream for the world and that those voices deserve to be heard. ‘Hear My Voice’ was that idea".

“I knew straight away I wanted to collaborate with Celeste, as her voice is one of the most magical things I have heard in recent times. Her voice soars on the track, and is an expression of freedom, defiance, and hope. Like anyone who makes art or desires change, we all want people to hear our voice. I am incredibly proud that together, we’ve made a song with a strong, powerful and simple message at its heart that feels as relevant to now, as it does to the events in Chicago in 1969, and I’m very excited for the rest of the world to hear it,” says Pemberton.

Daniel Pemberton is a multi-Golden Globe®, Emmy® and BAFTA® Award-nominated composer who has been regularly cited as one of the most exciting and original new voices working in modern film scoring today. Constantly working with some of the most renowned names in the industry, Pemberton has scored projects for the likes of Danny Boyle (Yesterday, Steve Jobs), Ridley Scott (All the Money in the World, The Counselor), Aaron Sorkin (Molly’s Game), Darren Aronofsky (One Strange Rock), Edward Norton (Motherless Brooklyn), Louis Leterrier (Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance), and Guy Ritchie (The Man from U.N.C.L.E., King Arthur: Legend of the Sword).

Celeste is a British-Jamaican soul singer and songwriter who, in 2019, won both the BRITs Rising Star Award and BBC Music’s Sound of 2020 Award. Since 2017, she has released two extended plays and has supported Janelle Monae, Neneh Cherry and Michael Kiwanuka on tour. She has been predicted as a 2020 breakthrough artist by publications such as The Guardian, Vogue, NME, GQ, MTV, Vevo, and Amazon Music. Celeste has performed at many of Europe’s biggest festivals such as Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Field Day and Rock en Seine.

Founded in 1978, Varèse Sarabande is the most prolific producer of film music in the world, releasing the highest quality soundtracks from the world’s greatest composers. From current box office hits and top television series to the classics of Hollywood’s Golden Age, Varèse Sarabande’s catalog includes albums from practically every composer in every era, covering all of film history; from Bernard Herrmann, Alex North and Jerry Goldsmith to Alexandre Desplat, Michael Giacchino and Brian Tyler. Constructive: "TIN STAR: LIVERPOOL" music by Adrian Corker

Constructive (a new sister label of SN Variations) is thrilled to announce its first official soundtrack release: Adrian Corker’s original score for the third season of the Sky original drama Tin Star, co-produced by Gaumont Television UK and Kudos and created by Rowan Joffe. Broadcast on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV, Tin Star: Liverpool will be released on digital and vinyl on November 20. Pre-order is available today, October 9, on Bandcamp.

Adrian Corker’s bold, heavily textured score for Tin Star: Liverpool gets a limited release on 300 neon yellow vinyl. Working with a 12-piece string section as well as brass and percussion, Corker draws out a rich palette of volatile sonics from the very edge of playable. Analog tape processing helps re-shape things further, slowing and stretching the sound giving rise to unusual shapes and colours. And woven amongst all this are field recordings by Corker and renowned sound recordist Chris Watson, who also did field recordings for HBO’s Chernobyl series soundtrack by Hildur Guðnadóttir, which went on to win the 2020 GRAMMY for “Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media.”

At the end of series two, which is currently available to watch on demand on Sky and streaming service NOW TV, Jack (Tim Roth) and Angela (Genevieve O’Reilly) are forced to reveal a devastating truth to their daughter, Anna (Abigail Lawrie); and now the family’s dark history is catching up with them in their native Liverpool as their ultimate nemesis arrives on their doorstep. Jack, Angela and Anna return to the UK twenty years after leaving to confront the sinister truth they ran from. The secrets they hold threaten a group of dangerous criminals who are still operating in the city.

“Tin Star: Liverpool is the last chapter in Tin Star and moves the location from the wide-open spaces of Canada to the urban landscape of post-industrial Liverpool in the U.K. I knew that I wanted to replace the predominantly acoustic ensemble sound from the first two seasons with something that reflected this, while retaining some of the original Tin Star feel,” says Adrian Corker.

Corker explains how he accomplished this sound: “12-piece string ensembles are combined with a trio of brass, percussion played on oil drums, and Russian synthesisers. Ensemble recordings made in London, were then played back in different locations and rooms that were used for the Tin Star shoot in Liverpool and re-recorded using a 360-degree mic array by Chris Watson. These were then used for composition alongside the other recordings, combined with analog tape processing and some more of Chris's field recordings.”

This was Corker’s third time working with many of the same players, each time developing the language into new imaginings of the same core ideas. Soloists include Aisha Orazbayeva, Richard Jones (Ligeti Quartet), Eloisa Fleur-Thom (12 Ensemble), Lucy Railton and Petter Eldh. Ensemble playing by Orchestrate (Mica Levi, Bobby Krlic).

Adrian Corker is a musician and composer living in London. He has written extensively to picture on award-winning film and TV projects, whilst also curating live events and releasing his music via diverse labels including his own imprint, SN Variations. His recent TV credits include all series of Rowan Joffe’s Tin Star for Sky Atlantic, with the upcoming third instalment set to be released later this year. Adrian’s rich, adventurous and unpredictable soundtrack to the contemporary western series was released on Silva Screen Records last year, and Joffe has himself remarked that ‘without Adrian’s music, the show would be incomplete.’ Other TV work includes both seasons of BBC period drama The Village, starring Maxine Peake and John Simm, and Octagon Films’ Clean Break. Adrian’s film credits include critically-acclaimed scores for arthouse film The Have-Nots, Charles Garrad’s Waiting for You, Tim Plester’s documentary film Way of the Morris, and his collaboration with composer Paul Conboy and the late director Antonia Bird on Face, Ravenous, The Hamburg Cell and BAFTA award-winning Care.

Lakeshore Records: "THE WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW" music by Ben Lovett

Lakeshore Records releases The Wolf of Snow Hollow—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally today, October 9th. Composed by Ben Lovett (The Ritual, The Wind), the album is a strikingly orchestrated, multi-faceted work inspired by old school Bernard Herrmann-era suspense thrillers reflecting all the dimensions of the offbeat horror film—from darkly comedic to tension-fueled terror to oddball mystery caper.  The album includes the newly reimagined cover version of “Little Red Riding Hood” originally performed by Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs in 1966, and given a seductive and thoroughly haunting treatment by Lovett and indie artist Valen.

Written, directed and starring Jim Cummings, The Wolf of Snow Hollow will be released in select theaters and On Demand October 9. The album follows the release of the EP Little Red Riding Hood which includes four versions of Lovett’s adaption including a full Acapella arrangement of Valen’s vocal parts.

In The Wolf of Snow Hollow, a small-town sheriff, struggling with a failed marriage, a rebellious daughter, and a lackluster department, is tasked with solving a series of brutal murders that are occurring on the full moon. As he's consumed by the hunt for the killer, he struggles to remind himself that there's no such thing as werewolves…

The Wolf of Snow Hollow is written and directed by Jim Cummings (Thunder Road) who stars alongside Riki Lindhome (Knives Out, “Garfunkel and Oates”), Jimmy Tatro (“American Vandal,” Bad Education), Chloe East (“Kevin (Probably) Saves the World”) and the late Academy Award nominee Robert Forster (Jackie Brown, The Descendants) in his final feature role.

Speaking about working with the director Cummings, Lovett noted: “After seeing Thunder Road I leapt at the opportunity to collaborate with Jim and tried to match his energy every step of the way.  Jim is a big music fan and had tremendous enthusiasm for the process.

We talked about everything from Prokofiev to Bernard Herrmann and I could tell he wanted to go big.  We had a tiny budget but a lot of ambition, and I wanted to see if we could pack big ideas into small packages.”

Expanding on the score, Lovett adds: “On a score like this the aim is to be referential without being derivative, to celebrate the influences instead of trying to hide them.  I like folding a love letter into what I’m doing but try to keep from getting too caught up in that, ultimately I’m just chasing an instinct about a sound and feel that hopefully expands on the personality and character of the film.”

Ben Lovett is an American recording artist, songwriter and composer known for crafting unconventional scores to a diverse range of films including the Netflix original THE RITUAL, Independent Spirit Award nominee THE SIGNAL, the Duplass Brothers’ survival thriller BLACK ROCK, Amy Seimetz’s award-winning noir SUN DON’T SHINE, Emma Tammi’s haunted western THE WIND, and the time travel sci-fi noir SYNCHRONICITY which earned Ben a nomination for “Discovery of the Year” at the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards.

Lovett’s scoring career flew into motion after THE SIGNAL debuted at Sundance in 2007 on its way to widespread success and enduring cult fandom.  In the years since Ben has scored over 30 films, received numerous awards and worldwide recognition from countless collaborative projects such as the visual adaptations for his own original songs “Eye Of The Storm,” “The Fear, and “Ghost of Old Highways” as well as original music for the films AMERICAN FOLK and TOMMY – an “ESPN 30 for 30” documentary on the late American boxing champion Tommy Morrison.

In addition to THE WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW, Lovett’s latest work includes scores for the Hulu series INTO THE DARK, the colorful taxidermy documentary STUFFED and a new collaboration with The Ritual director David Bruckner on the Searchlight Pictures thriller, THE NIGHT HOUSE.

Lakeshore Records is a four-time Grammy Nominated record label, and the soundtrack arm of the Cutting Edge Group.  Lakeshore Records is the global independent leader in top line soundtrack album releases, including such popular, critically acclaimed and classic soundtracks as Drive, Stranger Things, The Walking Dead, Star Trek: Discovery, The Handmaid's Tale, Napoleon Dynamite, the Academy Award nominated Lady Bird and Academy Award winners Moonlight, Little Miss Sunshine, If Beale Street Could Talk and The Hurt Locker and many, many more.

Wood Entertainment acquired worldwide rights to the film in March 2020 at the start of COVID 19 shutdowns in a deal negotiated by CEO Tara Wood, writer/director Groton as well as producers Crystal Collins and Simone Lapidus. The film will debut on all digital VOD platforms November 3, including: iTunes; Amazon; Vimeo, Xbox, Google Play; iNDEMAND; FandangoNOW, and more.

“I am so thrilled to be working alongside Wood Entertainment as we share our film Darkness in Tenement 45 with the world” said Groton. “This film was built on female collaboration and we're excited to continue that journey with Tara Wood and her team who have created a great space for women in film.”

Joanna has been living with her overbearing Aunt Martha, in a low-income NYC tenement building ever since a violent outburst left her fighting a force that she can only describe as the “darkness.” Little did she know that weeks after moving in, a biological threat from the Soviet Union would leave the building boarded up and the tenants locked inside. With food dwindling and Martha’s controversial role as leader expanding, Joanna rallies the children in an attempt to save the building. Tensions come to a violent head when Martha delves into Joanna’s past and Joanna struggles to keep the darkness from overtaking her entirely.

“I love thrillers of the 80’s and 90’s, Fatal Attraction, Sea of Love, Point of No Return, even Cujo” said Wood. “We are very much looking to acquire today’s female driven thrillers with women in front of and behind the camera. Darkness in Tenement 45, or DT45, is a perfect fit in our library."
