Milan Records: "THEM" (MUSIC FROM THE AMAZON ORIGINAL SERIES)

Milan Records today releases THEM (MUSIC FROM THE AMAZON ORIGINAL SERIES) with music by MARK KORVEN.  Available everywhere now, the album features music written by Korven for the Prime Video limited anthology series set in 1950s Los Angeles.  Building on a legacy in the genre, Korven has scored popular horror films such as The Witch and The Lighthouse in addition to trending on YouTube with his mind-blowing “Apprehension Engine” video.  Among the album’s 18 tracks are four covers of classic R&B staples from the 1950s newly-recorded by The Watts Wonders including “Go! Go! Go!,” “Pink Champagne,” “Rockin’ at Midnight,” and “Information Blues.”  Them premieres today exclusively on Prime Video from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios.

Of the soundtrack, composer MARK KORVEN says, “The score for Them seemed to call for music that was rough, dissonant, and brutal.  There's not a lot of polish.  It's guttural, visceral and in your face, which I think suited the horror that our protagonists endure in the lilywhite Compton of the 1950s.”

From breakout creator Little Marvin and executive producer Lena Waithe, Them is a limited anthology series that explores terror in America. The first season, set in the 1950s, centers on a Black family that moves from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood during the period known as The Great Migration. The family’s idyllic home becomes ground zero where malevolent forces, next-door and otherworldly, threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.  Them stars Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas, Alison Pill, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Melody Hurd, and Ryan Kwanten. The series is created and executive produced by Little Marvin along with executive producers Lena Waithe, Miri Yoon and Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, David Matthews, and Don Kurt. Them is a co-production from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios.

Toronto based, multi-award-winning composer Mark Korven has had his feet firmly planted in the dramatic and documentary film and television worlds for over 20 years. He has 8 Genie Nominations, 14 Gemini Nominations, a Genie Award, a Gemini Award, a Canadian Screen Award and recently, another CSA nomination.

Mark has worked with acclaimed directors Deepa Mehta, Patricia Rozema, Vincenzo Natalie and Robert Eggers. His collaboration with Eggers yielded the smash cult hits The Witch (A24) and the Oscar®-nominated film The Lighthouse (A24).  The latter film premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival Director’s Fortnight, where it received the Critics’ Choice Award – Best Film of the Festival. 2019 saw Mark scoring Ridley Scott’s The Terror: Infamy for AMC, and this year two new series will launch, both scored by Korven: Chapelwaite for EPIX and the Sony Pictures Television production Them: Covenant for Amazon.
