CYRANO TO OPEN THE 2021 MILL VALLEY FILM FESTIVAL THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2021

The Mill Valley Film Festival announces the California Premiere of CYRANO to open the 2021 festival, Thursday, October 7. A beautiful re-telling of Edmond Rostand's 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac, CYRANO is inspired by the 2018 musical stage play adapted and directed by Erica Schmidt. With music by Aaron & Bryce Dessner and lyrics by Matt Berninger & Carin Besser, colorful costumes, and choreography, this sumptuous production stars Peter Dinklage as the gifted poet and skilled duelist who secretly loves the beautiful Roxanne (Haley Bennett). Attending the Opening Night festivities will be BAFTA Award-winning director Joe Wright.

BAFTA Award-winning director Joe Wright envelops moviegoers in a symphony of emotions with music, romance, and beauty in Cyrano, re-imagining the timeless tale of a heartbreaking love triangle. A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac (a glorious performance by Peter Dinklage) dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. But, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne, Cyrano has yet to declare his feelings for her — and Roxanne has fallen in love, at first sight, with Christian (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.). The film also stars Ben Mendelsohn as “De Guiche,” and is slated for a limited release December 31, 2021 in select theatres. The film is rated PG-13 for some strong violence, thematic and suggestive material, and brief language.
