British Army Doctor, Elizabeth “Izzy” Cormack, returns from war to rekindle her relationship with her estranged family. Izzy notices numerous inexplicable activities in her house that her husband believes are due to her suffering from PTSD as a consequence of war. Izzy militantly pieces the daunting puzzle together to reveal a terrifying, invisible enemy that has infested her entire family. In a heroic attempt to save her family, she is pulled into a dark underworld in Hawaii to explore ancient mythology.
 
The film directed by Henk Pretorius and starring Jemima West and Christopher Dane was released by Dark Matter Studios on August 21.

Walter Mair is an Ivor Novello-nominated and Telly Award-winning composer known for his captivating scores ranging from epic orchestrations recorded with 80-piece choirs to intimate, small ensemble and hybrid electronic pieces that have graced a diverse mix of feature films, documentaries, television dramas, narrative-driven interactive entertainment and video games. In 2020, he received two Telly awards for “Best Original Music” for his scores to the BAFTA “EE Mobile Game of the Year” Call of Duty: Mobile as well as his score to the Netflix docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive. His most recent credits include the psychological horror film The Unfamiliar, the coming-of-age drama Iceland is Best, and the action-thriller Knuckledust.

His music can also be heard in Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto video games, Sony’s sci-fi franchise Killzone, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction and The Creative Assembly’s Total War series.
 
Walter believes that the main principle of creativity is to come up with genuine sounds, and he enjoys experimenting and creating unique sonic worlds for each of his projects, using his extensive collection of analog digital synths and blending live orchestral arrangements with experimental post-recording techniques.
 
In 2006, Walter moved from his native Austria to London to open his own state-of-the-art recording studio in SoHo and is a member of both BAFTA and BASCA.

Whistle Music: "DON'T LOOK DEEPER" music by Nora Kroll- Rosenbaum

Whistle Music, a joint venture between Alcon Sleeping Giant (ASG) Records and Team Whistle has digitally released the Original Series Soundtrack to Quibi’s highly popular sci-fi drama series Don’t Look Deeper (ASG Music Group/10:22 pm/UMe) from director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen). The album features an original score by Grammy Award-winning composer Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum (Bird Karma, Champaign ILL) that blurs the boundaries between organic and inorganic, biological and machine, and acoustic and electronic.
 
“I wanted the listener to be carried by the music, lifted by it, safely led by a strange familiar melody that flows throughout the story,” says Nora. “The music weaves and morphs sounds together—flutes with moogs, 808s with orchestra, processed voices with string quartet. The identity of the score embraces a plural space that loves on technology and pushes and subverts the possibility of the acoustic.”
 
The Don’t Look Deeper score features a string quartet, string orchestra, flutes, keyboards, electronics, sampled heartbeats, boiling water kettles, and voices. Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum collaborated with numerous amazing musicians on the recording of the score—including Lisa Liu and Grace Oh on violins, Alma Fernandez on viola, Ben Lash on cello, the Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra, flutist Amy Raasch, and vocalist Taura Stinson. Nora recorded electronics, keyboards and vocals on the score.
 
“I had so much fun collaborating with the brilliant vocalist and songwriter Taura Stinson on a number of tracks for Don’t Look Deeper. We made lists of body parts and deconstructed robot identities to create vocal shapes and contours. To score the flashback opening of episode 10, Catherine Hardwicke [director] came up with the radical idea of re-recording Diane Warren’s iconic ‘If I Could Turn Back Time,’ performed by an 8-year-old singer. Eden Kontesz filled Cher’s famous shoes, and the track, produced in collaboration with Tim Kobza, bizarrely underscores images of a child dissecting a doll,” says Kroll-Rosenbaum.
 
“Composer Nora Kroll- Rosenbaum had a deep understanding of Aisha’s character as someone who doesn’t fit in – doesn’t feel quite right in her skin,” said Don’t Look Deeper director Catherine Hardwicke. “She created music that is emotional and intriguing – and has vocal elements of human ‘breath’  – that subtly connect us to the humanity of the character. Nora was able to create a very original, powerful score that at times is haunting, soothing, terrifying, and always somehow -- beautiful.”

Milan Records: "THE NEST" music by Richard Reed Parry

Milan Records today announces the September 18 release of THE NEST (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) with music by multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer and Arcade Fire member RICHARD REED PARRY.  Available for preorder now, the album features music written by Parry for the thriller and marks Parry’s debut feature film score as solo composer.  Making its debut alongside today’s preorder is the soundtrack’s lead offering – listen to “Symphony Brew” here.  Written, directed, and produced by Sean Durkin and starring Jude Law and Carrie Coon, The Nest debuts in theaters Friday, September 18 from IFC Films.

Rory (Jude Law), an ambitious entrepreneur and former commodities broker, persuades his American wife, Allison (Carrie Coon), and their children to leave the comforts of suburban America and return to his native England during the 1980s. Sensing opportunity, Rory rejoins his former firm and leases a centuries-old country manor, with grounds for Allison’s horses and plans to build a stable. Soon the promise of a lucrative new beginning starts to unravel, the couple have to face the unwelcome truths lying beneath the surface of their marriage.

Richard Reed Parry is the red headed musical polymath at the heart of the endlessly inventive art rock band Arcade Fire, but his work and story reach far beyond.  Born in Toronto in 1977 and raised in a community of ex-pat British isles folk musicians, he attended Canterbury high school in Ottawa, Canada where he graduated from the first generation of its Literary Arts programme. In 1998 he headed to Montreal where he studied electroacoustics and contemporary dance at Concordia University, paving the way for a career on the wilder edge of music.

As well as navigating Arcade Fire's meteoric rollercoaster ride around most of the globe over the past 15 years, he also released his debut album as composer “Music For Heart and Breath” in 2014 on legendary classical music label Deutsche Grammophon, formed and toured in the acclaimed contemporary instrumental ensemble Bell Orchestre with AF violinist Sarah Neufeld, formed the sonic folk ensemble Quiet River of Dust, and collaborated and performed endlessly with artists from across a dazzling musical/artistic spectrum including David Bowie, David Byrne, the New York Philharmonic, Neil Young, Kronos Quartet, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Mick Jagger, The National, Spike Jonze, Sufjan Stevens, Nico Muhly, Justin Vernon, yMusic, Caroline Shaw, Sam Amidon, Terry Gilliam, Garth Hudson, Nadia Sirota, Colin Stetson, Britten Sinfonia, Barr Brothers, Little Scream, LaLaLa Human Steps, Bang On a Can, Alexi Murdoch, and The Unicorns.

In 2017, Parry premiered Wave Movements, an hour-long composition for string orchestra which he composed in tandem with frequent collaborator Bryce Dessner, alongside a film created by Hiroshi Sugimoto, at Barbican UK and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.  2017 also saw the premiere of Black Mountain Songs at Brooklyn Academy of Music, a multi media music performance based around the Black Mountain School, which he co-curated and co-composed with Caroline Shaw and Bryce Dessner for the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, released as an album on New Amsterdam Records.  In 2018 and 2019 he released Volumes 1 and 2 of the Quiet River of Dust album series on Anti Records, which he launched with a 4 week performance residency inside the Satosphère dome of Montreal’s Societé des Arts Technologiques, where he performed both albums in their entirety inside a 360-projected visual world built around the music, for the Festival International de Jazz Montreal.

He has won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year, multiple Juno Awards for both Arcade Fire and Bell Orchestre, The Polaris Prize, Brit Awards, and Socan Awards among others.  He speaks English, French and is currently studying Japanese. Hasbro: "TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY - SIEGE" music by TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON

Hasbro has digitally released Transformers: War for Cybertron - Siege Original Anime Series Soundtrack by Alexander Bornstein. The soundtrack features 17 electro-charged tracks from the hit Netflix Original Series, in partnership with Rooster Teeth.
 
"Being brought on to compose an entirely new musical world for the 'Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy' on Netflix has been both a dream job and huge creative responsibility," said Bornstein about the incredible task of creating new music for the beloved franchise. WaterTower Music: "TENET" music by Ludwig Göransson

WaterTower Music has today released the digital soundtrack to acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi action spectacle Tenet. The Tenet (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) features music from Academy- and Grammy Award-winning composer Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, The Mandalorian), and features the new, original song “The Plan” by multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated recording artist Travis Scott, and produced by Göransson, Wondagurl and Scott.
 
Describing his process, Göransson says, “There are a lot of sound illusions in the score.  I spent an inordinate amount of time taking familiar sounds, then, both organically and digitally, manipulating them so that they reflected the complex world of ‘Tenet.’  One of the biggest challenges for me in writing this score was how do I provide a musical roadmap for audiences as they experience something so conceptually ambitious and technically unprecedented?”
 
Although he had never worked with the director before, Göransson explains that, “Chris has had a colossal impact on the way I approach and experience film. Speaking with him, about his vision for the score, I was immediately struck by the depth of his musical knowledge and his drive to push the boundaries in music production with Tenet. When I started writing, those conversations became listening sessions where we would dissect the sounds, harmonies and textures, then refine them little by little. By the time Chris left to shoot, he had two hours of music to listen to as he traveled all over the world. He would write me notes from wherever he was with ideas on which sound belonged to which character, or how the music could interact differently with a scene he was shooting that day.”
 
Travis Scott created and is featured on the original song “The Plan,” which resulted from a suggestion by the composer. Christopher Nolan offers, “One of Ludwig’s suggestions was to bring in Travis Scott, show him the film and get his insight. Travis watched the film and really connected with it and in the end, his voice, the song he created using Ludwig’s tracks and the way in which we wound up layering his voice into various elements of the soundtrack became really the final piece of this puzzle that we’d been working on for so long.“
 
Göransson further elaborated. “When I watched the movie in its entirety, I started to feel that the end needed a new voice to reflect the culmination of the Homeric journey we’ve just experienced. The first artist that came to mind was Travis Scott. Conceptually, his artistic voice is very much in step with the sound palette we’ve created for Tenet, and I felt that he and Chris might almost be kindred spirits when it comes to creating fully realized worlds with music and visuals. Travis became one of the first people in the world to see Tenet, and his observations of the experience were exactly what Chris was looking for. His song is such a perfect fit for the movie that Chris and I asked if we could weave a short snippet of his vocal into the score at various points throughout the film. Travis Scott did indeed create the missing piece of the puzzle.”

Walt Disney Records: "MULAN" music by Harry Gregson-Williams

Walt Disney Records has released the original motion picture soundtrack to Disney's new movie "Mulan," streaming exclusively on Disney+.  Directed by Niki Caro ("The Zookeeper's Wife," "McFarland, USA"), the movie and soundtrack feature score composed, conducted and produced by Harry Gregson-Williams.  Multi-platinum and global award-winning superstar singer/ songwriter Christina Aguilera performs a new original song, "Loyal Brave True," and "Reflection (2020)." The digital soundtrack is available today.

A welcome challenge for the composer was writing music to underscore a film that was grounded in Chinese legend and history.   Gregson-Williams said, "The idea for the music was that it would be a fully orchestral score that had an additional layer of featured Chinese instruments woven into its DNA. Ancestry and heritage are both really important to the story, so I immersed myself in that world and sought out specific musicians who could contribute using their knowledge of Chinese music."  He adds, "At the heart of the score is a full-bodied symphony orchestra and a big choir. But on the periphery, we have a lot of Chinese colors."

Caro says, "The score by Harry Gregson-Williams is every bit as epic and emotional and thrilling as the movie itself. However, it was really important to me to honor the animation by bringing in the most revered song-'Reflection.'" Written by Matthew Wilder and David Zippel, the brand-new recording of "Reflection (2020)" is performed by Christina Aguilera and produced by Harry Gregson-Williams.

"Loyal Brave True" is a new original song written especially for the film by Jamie Hartman, Harry Gregson-Williams, Rosi Golan and Billy Crabtree, and produced by Jamie Hartman.  Aguilera recorded the song in both English and Spanish.  Music videos for both tracks featuring Aguilera were directed by Caro.

Music from both songs is featured in Gregson Williams' underscore with Aguilera's full-length versions appearing in the film's custom main-on-end title design.

Yifei Liu, who is also a singer, recorded "Reflection" in Mandarin as well. The Mandarin version of the song was produced by Matthew Wilder, who originally co-wrote and produced the song for the animated film.

Intrada: "MUSSOLINI: THE UNTOLD STORY" music by composer Laurence Rosenthal

Intrada revisits an '80s miniseries score from the pen of veteran film composer Laurence Rosenthal, Mussolini: The Untold Story (1985). In the '80s, Rosenthal scored many historical epics, with Mussolini coming in between George Washington (1984) and Peter the Great (1986). These miniseries gave Rosenthal wide, opulent opportunities for which to score large-scale, extensive works. In the case of Mussolini, Rosenthal composed a score that reflected the rise of the dictator, from a thrilling, almost heroic theme for his rise to power, romantic music for his passionate romance with his mistress, a playful theme for his family and exciting action music. Running nearly two hours, the score to Mussolini is epic in every sense.

For this reissue, Intrada revisited the session masters and rebuilt and remastered the original 2-CD program, resulting in a superior listening experience to the original 2020 release and includes updated packaging.

The miniseries features a view into the private life of Benito Mussolini (George C. Scott), combining the grand spectacle of his public facing persona with a more intimate look at his behind the scenes relationships with friends and family. Running 7 hours, the miniseries aired starting Nov 24th, 1985.
