Lakeshore Records: Better Living Through Chemistry [2014]

LAKESHORE RECORDS PRESENTS:
BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY
Featuring Original Music by Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau

(March 31, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and through Amazon-On-Demand on April 15, 2014.  The album features original music by Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau (ANCHORMAN 2, CASA DE MI PADRE).

“The score was for the most part minimal, then balanced out by jazz type 1960's grooves,” said John Nau.  “We also utilized voices and chamber orchestra – as with many of our projects, this was fun to do!”

It was in Venice, CA that John Nau and Andrew Feltenstein would meet, some 14 years ago.  Feltenstein was working on songs in a studio while Nau was there to score a film.  Becoming fast friends and collaborators they decided to open their own studio, a decision which paid off rather quickly as they secured a ready stream of commercial work.  A project for BudTV – a series of short films and sketches for Budweiser -- would lead to them working with Matt Piedmont, an Emmy Award winning writer for Saturday Night Live (SNL) and writer for the popular website Funny or Die.  Piedmont would enlist Feltenstein and Nau to compose for his web series THE CARPET BROTHERS, starring SNL alums David Spade and Tim Meadows and BRICK NOVAX’S DIARY, a winner of a Jury Prize in Short Filmmaking at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.    Piedmont would make his leap to feature films with his directorial debut CASA DE MI PADRE starring another SNL alum, Will Ferrell and written by his Funny or Die collaborator Andrew Steele. Nau and Feltenstein’s film and TV credits also include the films ANCHORMAN 2, BACHELORETTE, KIDS AND MONEY, The BIG LOVE Christmas Album, and the IFC Channel series SPOILS OF BABYLON.  Their upcoming projects KING DORK for director Matt Piedmont and the second season of SPOILS OF BABYLON.

A small town pharmacist's uneventful life is turned inside out when a chance encounter with a lonely trophy wife turns into a walk on the wild side in the murderously funny dark comedy, BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY. Doug Varney (Sam Rockwell) is the model of suburban respectability-until the night he delivers a prescription to the home of Elizabeth Roberts (Olivia Wilde). Gorgeous, seductive and multiply addicted, Elizabeth eagerly introduces Doug to extra-large martinis, uninhibited bedroom behavior and the illicit pleasures of the pharmacopeia he has access to in his store.

Written and directed by Geoff Moore and David Posamentier, produced by Occupant Entertainment's Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino, BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY also stars Michelle Monaghan, Ray Liotta, Jane Fonda, as well as Ben Schwartz, Norbert Leo Butz and Ken Howard.

Samuel Goldwyn Films presents BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY in theaters on March 14, 2014.  The BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available digitally and via Amazon on Demand on April 15, 2014.
