Varèse Sarabande: "LONESOME DOVE" Music by Basil Poledouris

Varèse Sarabande celebrates the 30th anniversary of the LONESOME DOVE saga with the release of LONESOME DOVE - Original TV Miniseries Soundtrack. Out of print for more than 10 years and never available digitally, the CD and digital album will be available March 15th everywhere incredible soundtracks are sold. With the original music composed and conducted by Basil Poledouris (CONAN THE BARBIAN, FREE WILLY), the album features a new exclusive track composed and performed by Zoë Poledouris and her husband Angel Roché, which uses her father’s timeless themes from the original score in tribute.

Basil’s first western, LONESOME DOVE won the 1989 Emmy® for Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or Special. This was the first of five scores Basil would compose for director Simon Wincer (HARLEY DAVIDSON AND THE MARLBORO MAN, CROCODILE DUNDEE IN LOS ANGELES), who also won an Emmy® for the mini-series. With 7 Emmys®, 2 Golden Globes® and numerous other awards and acclaims, LONESOME DOVE helped to revive both the television western and the miniseries in the early 90’s.

Tommy Lee Jones (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, THE FUGTIVE) and Robert Duvall (GODFATHER I & II) led an all-star cast, including Danny Glover (LETHAL WEAPON 1-4), Diane Lane (UNFAITHFUL, UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN) and Anjelica Huston (THE ADAMS FAMILY, PRIZZI’S HONOR), in the story of two former Texas Rangers who join a cattle drive to the Montana Territory. Based on the 1985 novel of the same name, the popularity of LONESOME DOVE went on to spawn four novels, five miniseries and two television series.

Best known for the music to films like RED DAWN (1984), ROBOCOP, THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and FLIGHT OF THE INTRUDER, Poledouris had over 90 credits as a composer before his passing in 2006. His prolific collaborations with directors John Milius and Paul Verhoeven helped create some of the most beloved cinema of the 20th century. Poledouris worked on several projects with his composer-performer daughter, Zoë Poledouris, including John Waters’ CECIL B DEMENTED.

Available March 15th for the first time in over a decade, the LONESOME DOVE - Original TV Miniseries Soundtrack features original music by Basil Poledouris and a new exclusive track by Zoë Poledouris and Angel Roché. The album is available for digital download or CD from your favorite music retailer. Visit VareseSarabande.com for this and other incredible soundtracks. [www.varesesarabande.com]
