Milan Records today releases an album of music from Episode 3 of “SCHMIGADOON!, the Apple Original musical comedy series executive produced by Lorne Michaels. Available everywhere now, Episode 3 soundtrack features original music and lyrics by the show’s co-creator and showrunner CINCO PAUL in addition to score music by composer CHRISTOPHER WILLIS. Performing the show’s musical numbers is a renowned cast of talent that includes CECILY STRONG, KEEGAN-MICHAEL KEY, MARTIN SHORT, ALAN CUMMING, KRISTIN CHENOWETH, AARON TVEIT, DOVE CAMERON and more. Today's release follows last week's debut of albums from Episodes 1 and 2 - listen to Episode 1 & Episode 2. Milan Records will continue to release episodic soundtracks for the remaining episodes in the series as they debut on Apple TV+. "Schmigadoon!" is now streaming on Apple TV+.
“Schmigadoon!,” a parody of iconic Golden Age musicals, stars Strong and Key as a couple on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship who discover a magical town living in a 1940s musical. They then learn that they can’t leave until they find “true love.” The first season also stars Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Fred Armisen, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada. Martin Short guest stars.
Hailing from Broadway Video and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, Schmigadoon! is co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. Paul serves as showrunner, and wrote all of the original songs for the series. Barry Sonnenfeld directs and executive produces. In addition to starring, Strong serves as producer, and Daurio serves as consulting producer and writer. Andrew Singer executive produces with Lorne Michaels on behalf of Broadway Video.
Christopher Willis is a composer and songwriter, currently living in Pasadena, CA. Originally from the UK, he attended Clare College at Cambridge University, earning a PhD in Musicology, and he trained as a concert pianist at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
He is the recipient of multiple honors from the International Film Music Critics Association for his scores to The Death of Stalin and The Personal History of David Copperfield. Both films won Best Original Score for a Comedy Film in their respective years, and Copperfield was named 2020’s Film Score of the Year. His TV work includes HBO's Veep, Disney Junior’s The Lion Guard, and the much-loved Disney Mickey Mouse shorts. For the latter, he is a five-time winner of the Annie Award for Outstanding Music for a Television/Broadcast Production, and a two-time Emmy nominee for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics (2017) and Outstanding Music Direction and Composition (2019).
Christopher recently composed the soundtrack for the Walt Disney World ride-through attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The ride centers around “Nothing Can Stop Us Now,” an original song co-written with his wife and songwriting partner, Elyse Willis. Upcoming projects include The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse for Disney+, Lamya’s Poem, an independent animated feature set in Syria; and “Schmigadoon!,” a musical comedy series coming to Apple TV+ in Summer 2021.
