Lakeshore Records is set to release Virgin River—Music From the Netflix Series digitally on July 9 featuring an original score by Jeff Garber (Nancy Drew, Lopez). Garber’s orchestrations anchored by acoustic guitar and piano, provide a natural, richly pastoral backdrop to the beloved Netflix series. Also included on the album are four cover songs performed by SYML, Phillip LaRue, Chance Peña and Dresage x AG. Season 3 of the series premieres on Netflix July 9.
In “Virgin River” season three, we've got even more drama in store for our beloved characters. Highlights include, a funeral, a fire, a divorce, a hurricane and a new romance, in a twist-packed season that'll keep fans on the edge of their seats.
Says Garber: “My approach to scoring Virgin River was to simply support the evolving story-lines with natural sounding acoustic instrumentation. From inception, The beauty and the backdrop provided such a visual sting, the scenery almost begged for instruments made from trees and earth.
Scored exclusively on either Acoustic guitar or piano, I generally score straight to picture and let the characters dictate the score. I always feel like the first impression is the best idea, and I generally use 90% of what I capture in those initial moments. Virgin River is wonderfully written, acted, and beautifully shot, so my only job is to simply keep up with them, and it’s one of the funnest most rewarding shows I’ve ever written for.”
Jeff Garber has been quietly making his music industry presence known as a film and television composer. Currently Jeff is the composer for the Netflix hit series “Virgin River”, CW’s “Nancy Drew” and the upcoming Netflix comedy "Pretty Smart". His past credits include No Sleep ‘Til Christmas (Freeform), Rel (Fox) and Lopez (TV Land). Additionally, Jeff has been an assistant composer for shows such as The Royals (E! / Lionsgate), Runaways (Hulu / Marvel), The Kids Are Alright (ABC), and The Baker and The Beauty (ABC). Jeff began his career as a songwriter, musician and producer in bands such as Year Of The Rabbit and National Skyline.
